In light of the mtx free dxp, it has brought foward that dxp is somewhat loosing its value. It used to be once or twice a year for 1 weekend, which was then changed, to 48hrs over 10 days then to 4x a year when covid hit. I feel that now running 4x a year it’s starting to loose meaning. My suggestion is to remove atleast 2 dxps and then replace with more activity based weeks, like skilling week, clue week, bossing week etc. for skilling week buffs can include things like no porter charges used, double damage, double progress when mining or archeology more chance of 3x Dino’s in bgh etc. bossing week can bring back wars coldron, free deaths improved drop chances. Clues week can include, chance to not spawn double agents, immediately finish a clue. I feel these would have more of a positive impact then 4x dxp a year

I strongly agree with this. It would be awesome to have more variety in events [[ winter weekends ]] which have been done in some years before are a great example of possibilities
Wiki links found:

I would even say that having 1 DXP Week is ideal a year.
Realistically Summer or Winter is idealistic.
but I absolutely agree; having a Skilling Week, Combat Week, Clue Week in replacement of the other 3 would be idealistic.
I like four dxps. But also weekly events should be added as well. And it's lose not loose 😆
DXP started off as a gimmick to entice players to return. it used to be unannounced and totally random. With our current xp rates its 100% unnecessary to keep and I personally would be happy if it were phased out entirely
we dont need gimmicks to get players to play
id like to see them remove dxp altogether and remove lamps. bonus stars are fine because they promote players to actually play the game instead of being able to buy exp with lamps. id also like to see them completely remove treasure hunter and all of its mtx items and bring back yak track and make yak track all cosmetics and no way to buy levels in the yak trakc as well
Nah. Purchasable Bonus xp is bad. It’s just Squeal of Fortune 1.0.
If you want to play the game play it. We have insane xp rates without MTX. Bonus xp just gives those who can throw money at the screen access to doing half the grind
Unfair and bad for game health
i dont think stars can be considered purchasable exp because even if you get stars you still have to play the game and train the skill you put them in so i really dont see how its classified that way
It 100% is. Just because you “have to play” doesn’t change that fact. Stars and bonus xp cut your effective total xp needed to grind out by half. Meaning if you throw enough money at the screen you can just meet your entire 99/120 or even 200m goals twice as fast than someone who can’t. Thats not equitable or healthy for a game that’s had its player count gutted because of MTX.
If you want a fair and healthy game all outcomes should be inherently merit based and not because you had more disposable income
yeah, cause no
XP rates are hardly 'insane' without MTX for 110's, let alone 120's and 200m's. Unless of course you spend hundreds of millions or even billions of gp on the fastest methods.
Nothing wrong with skilling requiring time and money to do 🤷♂️
Bring back all the events from the old winter weekends
and why is this a problem out of curiousity?
How does that players actions impact you directly?
The reality is they lock Bonuses on New Skills, so the Race on new Skills are fair; and by the time that Lock is lifted the top 100 are already secured to 200m.
I am not opposed to purchasable BXP because primarily alot of the remaining players in the game are mid 30s working full time employments.
Way I personally see it Lamps are discusting, It avoids the interaction with the skill at all, but BXP still enables the player interacting with the market or interacting with the skill in order to achieve that XP to be utilized.
Having 50% reduced work towards the skill isn't any issue in my eyes, just my view I guess 🤷🏽♂️
billions in RS is pretty small to achieve now days.
Thats less then a weeks worth of effort to afford any 200m skill anymore.
that being said though; I agree the XP rates aren't insane, when not every player chooses to put 15 hours a day into the game. 😂
Depends in what you call "insane" but alot fo skills are pretty fast already at base rates at the higher levels
Because I view game health as a game that doesn’t have options that reduce total gameplay needed for an activity just because you have more disposable income. Also it doesn’t matter what the games predominant population is. We used to be a merit based game. You getting bonus xp to effectively do 50% less work than others isn’t fair
alright let me ask you this; do you condone boosts that aren't acquired by MTX?
Because to me it sounds like your primary argument is that you simply don't believe Purchasable Content should be existent that reduces the gameplay required.
Yes, however Let me ask you this; How long do you think it should take for someone to aquire XP from 0XP - 200M XP?
Longer then it currently takes
- looking at base rates not mtx /dxp boosted rates
People are just to used to their mtx / dxp boosted rates that they forget how fast skills already are to train
I support anything that’s earned in game. So if you can get bonus xp from mini games or quests. Then I’m cool with it
Core principles of the game is earning xp and levels. You cheapen this with xp or xp boosting MTX
alright fair; can you establish an estimate timeline you'd consider reasonable?
I am curious to understand your views, and potential discussion on this.
alright in that case, I understand your views.
So in that regard, what about views of purely cosmetic overrides as a secondary earning source for Jagex?
I'm not against it taking years to reach 200m all as casual few hours a day player
because so far, If that is something that could occur; I absolutely could support that approach.
I do however believe Bonus XP should be acquirable in game, now I don't necessarily care if its purchasable. I do however feel Quests/MTX/Mini Games shouldn't reward Lamps though. I feel Lamps are very destructive towards the game, and BXP is a better alternative to lamps.
I do however also understand Jagex has to establish a stable income to maintain their investments, and maintain growth as a Company. Therefore Am completely comfortable with Cosmetic MTX
Including...
- Outfit Overrides
- Weapon Overrides
- Ability Overrides
- Familiar Overrides
- Conjure Overrides
- I would also include Items such as Inverted Capes in this Category personally.
- I would also Include Items such as Re-releasable Rares in this Category personally. (Black Phat, Green Santa, and so forth)
110% support. I’ve been a huge advocate for cosmetic only MTX and how it has better yields and ROI than current MTX standards
However Personally I disagree with Treasure Hunter as a Random Gambling method as discusting regardless. and The Only method should be Runecoins personally.
Yup. We have too many redundant currencies
One centralized MTX currency. One centralized shop. The end
so on a realistically over 80% of the skills meet your criteria currently?
because if you take out MTX Methods, BXP, Lamps, and limit it to only a couple hours a day (I'd say a couple is 2 estimated)
There are a couple Skill Exceptions that take shorter and some which can take longer too.
absolutely agree.
Also to add on to the cosmetic cash cow that jagex has. We have a literal ass load of cosmetics that are outdated or discontinued. Bring them back. Sell those. Also update them visually and sell those too. Now I’m not a fan of double dipping. But who cares. It’s a far better alternative than the 15 years of SoF/TH
