#Improve Tortle Hunting at Uncharted Isles

The cherry on top of this hunting problem is that you can only get 200 tortles before they disperse, EI, resource depleted. We are left with 50 bowls, while other skills produce resources in abundance. There is always going to be a shortfall with Tortles, so if this is an economic design in the game, at least let it be painless with one of my above suggestions.
I agree with this. It's wonderful content but the effort is far from worth the "reward". Its no wonder I don't waste my time with this, and you're right. It should be more AFK, and the language we're given (regarding the 3rd suggestion) is frustrating.
Counterpoint to this:
Without boosts; the 50 bowls that are supplied from a tortle spot matches the 50 wobbegong oil from 100 wobbegong; 50 mushrooms minimum from the 100 mushrooms (unless you get a rare) and 50 golden bamboo stacks from the 100 golden bamboo.
Alaea salt is the odd one as that awards 200 per.
It's generally an equal distribution, aside from alaea salt.
Transmutation is optional, but helps balance out your resources.
Initial post also has conflicting stances with "It's supposed to be AFK" and then the same post having a second point of reducing ticks to work faster (i.e: Reducing the AFK)
The initial post states exactly what I meant: 1 of the options, not all of them.
Additionally, the 50 bowls require far more effort than any other item. Energy and time invested are disproportionate across the various resources. I suggest 1 of the 3 solutions or a possible combination thereof. It's not intrinsically conflicting to offer multiple solutions to a single problem.
Additionally, I'm not proposing an increase to the total cap of bowls per resource. I'm proposing a way to make exploiting said resource suck less than it currently sucks.
Without boosts, tortles are generally the fastest to deplete having done plenty of Arc myself.
Making comparisons to Proteans - an item that is typically MTX-related - is a comparison in bad faith. Yes, I know there are ways of getting them outside of MTX sources, but those sources are typically much lower in abundance.
Proteans in general, are bad for the game and the game economy.
If people are training Crafting purely through Proteans, crafting supplies lose their value.
Drop the traps onto your action bar and hold your key down.
Hunter has always been leaning to be one of the least AFK skills, and not every skill should be homogenized into an AFK-fest.
Skills can lose a lot of their identity if they are at its core, basically the same as something else.
The Mining and Smithing rework managed to pull Mining from basically being the same as Woodcutting or Fishing.
Fishing with Fishing Frenzy pulled Fishing away from similar likes of Mining and Woodcutting.
Time Sprites in Archaeology are somewhat similar to Rockertunities from Mining to reward active gameplay.
It wasn't contradictory: It was an option 3, in the case that options 1 and 2 were rejected.

Hunter has plenty of easy/afk methods, this one is active but rewards a lot of XP for it.

Hunter cape lets you 1-tick traps, just go afk 99 elsewhere then come back. I would like if this wasn't the case as well.

Yeah it's not that many per batch, but they're a fairly common find in the Arc and deplete really fast so it balances out.
I did a mix of hunting them and transmute method for all the chimes needed on 2 accounts, honestly my biggest issue was finding enough golden bamboo.
Bad faith? Automatic deployment may come from proteans, but it's also really nice. Like, seriously, that's an amazing feature. Proteans are bad for the game, I agree, but it's not the auto-deploy feature on protean traps which is so bad. It's the damage to the player experience and in-game economy, no less.
All fair points, but TBH, the Arc is a separate region and economy, insulated from the main economy and training methods. It's literally designed around a chill-AFK gameplay in every other aspect, even has a nice tropical island theme to calm your nerves. I don't think some consistency here would be a detriment to the general experience of a skill, especially since it's locked behind a high level requirement in the first place.
About the XP: it's slow. High XP per tortle doesn't translate to much per hour, since you can't reliably find any one resource when spamming voyages/maps. It's RNG based. It's also tick-based waiting time between traps set and checking the trap. So it doesn't really turn out as good as it looks.
I had my hunter cape when I was trying to hunt the tortles, BTW. I was having a bad time with it.
most islands have at least 1 ornate tortle spot, it's really easy to have enough maps/chimes to run lots of maps per day. I believe it's the highest xp/h hunter in the game
How so? it should be click cape click to place trap, when looting tortle click cape
iirc that is, been a few months since I did it
So I have to keybind the traps and the cape to do this? 🤨
yeah
so wear the cape put it on hotbar where ever is comfortable for you, I had mine on my mouse side buttons
and I would just roll my thumb from cape bind to trap bind
For the love of Saradomin, this should be a passive effect
Yeah it's real jank, esp considering they removed 1-ticking methods just to re-introduce it with the cape exclusively
Well, double key-bind method gives these results: 28 minutes to deplete tortles.
100% effort went into that trial. Trapper outfit gave 26 extra shell chippings. Trapper outfit did not proc to speed up any processes. Irregular and erratic reliability of cape feature, so that I would have to attempt to use the cape keybind 7-8 times per 5 traps.
The whole thing was arhythmic. Would I do it again? Maybe. Would I say it's great? Not really.
Perhaps, I should have named this post to: Fix the tick-system with hunting and hunting cape.
All the same, it's about tortle hunting, so if I had to reconsider anything I said in the above post, it's that it's too tedious for anyone to do. It is in fact: too tedious to do as a training method to reach 99 hunter, since without the cape it would be even worse.
honestly just #1240187918773915682 overall
yeah luckily there's plenty of hunter methods out there, trap hunting is weird because it's both very active and a lot of sit and wait time, hard to be fully invested or do as second monitor gameplay
If hunting could reduce ticks at level thresholds, IE, 20% faster trap setting at level 90, this would be less of an issue. Because we know they're not fixing the tick system soon.
