I’m not sure if this is a thing, since I recently started playing, but I don’t believe it is. I feel like not a lot of people play castle wars and would be neat to buy these tickets thru the merchant maybe 15-35 at a time. A lot of cool stuff I’d like to get that just doesn’t seem reasonable due to lack of players. Also would save time, like as if you are getting kill free reaper points
#Castle Wars Tickets thru Traveling Merchant

That is kind of a temporary solution to a bigger problem... reworking minigames
But until they get around to that I dont see a problem with letting players just buy the profound achievement
Castle wars currently always has a game going on world 24, albeit mostly afk. I do agree with both suggestions, in that minigames need to be reworked and how often the CW tickets would show up on traveling merchant would most likely be about as often as it does in player owned farms. Thus the impact would be negligible but help those that are okay with pursuing this route.
Agreed on Mechant.
tbh, if castle wars had a ultra rare drop chance like hazelmeres upon each flag capture, people would actually bother the game correctly.
Not everyone wants to or is physically able to AFK for extended periods of time
+We still have players to this day who use terrible computers / devices to play the game on and may not have the best internet either some only have Wifi which causes a lot of disconnects during their day to day game time so afking let alone being online for 20 minutes is often times impossible for many users
I'm just not a fan of having achievements in-game that require you to pay stupid internet prices / many hundreds into thousands on a system that can run without you dcing for the full duration of a minigame.
Some live in areas where good internet just does not exist in also so having CW tickets in the merch indirectly includes these people to finally obtain it over a lengthy duration of time
rather than never at all
The original post was hinging on "not a lot of people play castle wars", therefore the tickets should be buyable from traveling merchant as an alternative. I agreed with this, largely because I don't see the ability to buy from traveling merchant as being game changing for the profound requirement. It will still require a considerable time investment in Castle Wars. I have no problem whatsoever of alternative solutions to things from within the game, in so much that they don't adversely change what they intended to address. Otherwise, like many other have said and I have supported, a completely different system for minigames/achievements should be implemented.
I was just adding onto the bit you mentioned about the minigame as a whole.
The hard part is getting people who already went through the grind for things like this to get on board with it personally I don't mind having these tickets as a timely solution even though I did my game plays for the achievement others however be their usual self saying:
"We suffered the grind so you must do the same"
"You don't have good internet in your area? Just be born in a different area not hard"
"Can't afford a $1,000 PC? Just stop paying your bills and go homeless until you can afford one"
^Those are the common things I see from people who did some kind of lengthy grind and it eventually becomes easier to other players. Overall making things more inclusive is great in many ways even if it's temp until they can rework them.
Ya, I have my profound and am slowly working towards 5k games and I view people who think that misery comes with certain things in the same way I view how the older generation laments the newer being soft because they don't suffer enough..... It's completely reductive. I have also heard those same complaints from players and I think the game needs to be more inclusive, especially for long-term viability. Having more options is always a good thing and am baffled by people who seemingly want less.
Make them buyable from merchant after completion of like 50-100 castle wars games?
Rather not have this either tbh. Just allow anyone to purchase them from the merch as long as it has them in stock.
Not everyone can even stay logged into the game for a full 20 minutes thats not mentioning doing it 50 - 100 times
I do not support getting the benefit of a minigame, without spending the time in said minigame. Why bother winning a game, when you can just purchase the trophy.
It's not like a one and done type thing kind of purchase it will takea lot of time to get enough from the trav merch since it only has one stock per day and lots of stock rotations to deal with
Bump - Support as CW is dead and we need a new way to get the god halo's and other cosmetics!
support for this, although i think extra restrictions should be placed on the profound title and profound halo, as they are marks of having suffered through castle wars, much more than all the cosmetics purchaseable for tickets, and i think that value should be preserved
if the "How Many Games?" achievement was changed to "show lanthus a full set of profound while wearing the castle wars enthusiast cape" that's be appropriate
Agreed!
Can obtain Thaler from any Minigame that supports it - Spotlighted Minigame is x5 Thaler rate, purchase CW armours with Thaler and then sell them back to Lanthus for tickets to then obtain Halos.
An alternative already exists.
A method yes but it's a method no one wants to do! Not everyone has months to dedicate. I believe it bumps it to 1 thaler per minute so even if it would just be better than that like 3 thaler per minute even would be nice. But once again there's the fault that even a minigame in spot light isn't always active and still empty. There would be no harm in adding tickets to TM.
Although I support this. I still think finding a way to increase minigame traffic, create AI NPCs for minigames when populations are low, have a minigame hub, and/or have all minigames have share worlds is a better solution than just copping out to the traveling merchant for consumables
Adding thraler to the merchant is going to negatively impact minigame traffic. Why spend time playing the game? Thats exp waste that could be spent afking dunegoneering dummies in the GE
And thats not great
But RuneScape players seem to really hate interactive/social content so maybe just adding all the minigame rewards to the travelling merchant isnt a bad idea
Its like participation trophies 🏆
Moving the gamers grotto to a more convenient location would be smart, like a portal to it in the Grand Exchange instead of out by Falador
