I'm not sure is it marked as one for today, but sometimes it has had announcements in the past as a community event. PvPlatform FC is arranging a best out of three Soul Wars game at 20:00 game time today on W45. Yet I don't see it on the calendar. So was wondering about that and hence the question. It is open to all participants and all.

So, comparing what shows up on the ingame calendar vs. what I can double-check elsewhere, the events that show up on the calendar are the ones listed in #in-game-events
The only events that show up in that channel, are events hosted by one of our (RS discord) official affiliate communities

Thank ye very much for the help. To my understanding PvPlatform is (or so I believe?) one such affiliate community, but as said sometimes we had an announcement and sometimes not for events. So hopefully Azanna can clear things up.

..Literally why, Arthurian legend is british, Jagex is a british company, such a weird change that nobody asked for 😭

events to celebrate real life things like mental health or the jubilee are welcome, but the standard for permanent lore is a bit higher

If you do your research you would see that the likes of previous Mod Osbourne proudly included British references into the game lore and this was his job at the time.

Is this all part of Jagex trying to reshape its identity?

I mean, fair enough, but I'd argue the existence of those locations met those standards by being pretty deeply embedded in the Camelot quests-

Found an annoying issue with today's update: the game window is unresponsive as long as the interface for withdrawing from the money pouch is open. The withdraw interface can no longer be closed by clicking anywhere outside, and can now only be closed by clicking the X button. This is less convenient than before.

Funny because if I recall right, I remember a user on this Discord making this exact suggestion in chat to remove any real-world references from Camelot and King Arthur.

I'm generally satisfied with that being removed from the game. I imagine it was a nice easter egg initially but as established in lore now, humans came for Teregard so there's no need for Earth to exist in RS in my opinion.

Arthurian legend is actually Welsh, so referring to it as English isn't accurate. That was appropriation of Welsh folklore by England for colonialism

King Arthur was probably a real person to some extent even if the legends have drifted away from what happened

what to do with Camelot and its questline has been discussed for a while

I think there was discussion about updating it a while back that got a lot of backlash to preserve the older elements of the game

the calendar update is something I've been hoping they'd do for a while

it'd be nice to have some way to toggle reminders and to have a way to set up clan events and maybe see the minigame spotlight too

I think they mentioned an update to clan interfaces but I think some kind of update to grouping and friends chat would be good too

like an easy way to find friends chats for specific things in game besides the day planner

and condensing the chat list tabs into one

There's a glitch under "Display Additional Action Bars" causing them all to say "Bar not displayed" while they're being displayed

Been trend for over a decade to remove outright references to cultural works and make them closer to the setting with old word as inspiration.

Earliest example is Romeo and Juliet being replaced with Gunnar’s ground. You took a quest that went nowhere and replaced it with one that was integrated into the setting and had a cohesive plot.

This integrates King Arthur in a way it can actually be used in future stuff, as he can tied to potential future story. Rather then being this side lore people pretend isn’t there.

Just wondering, the difference of brightness etc is easy to spot (starting above the door)

The top of the tower, which is the roof and is not accessible of course seems to remove the inside when viewing it. If I can explain it nicely, like backface culling.

"Romeo and Juliet" has also been in game for many years before they removed it (and I'm happy they did) and so did many old quests that were eventually replaced with new ones. Citizens were also all called Ali in Pollnivneach and they changed it (and no, the lore about why everyone was called Ali was added later and never in-game if I recall right), the change I'm also glad it happened. Not to mention the god lore... stuff changes so lore is more consistent and I'm glad for that.

It would be really nice if the community events info popups had a brief summary of what the event will entail, and maybe a link to the relevant Wiki page for the activity in question. That might help newcomers, and I have to admit while I'm hardly new, I've never been to a "Boss Mass". While I assume it's an organised boss-killing event, I don't know what's expected of participants. Historically, there would be a permanent forum post for such events detailing rules and advice, but in this post-forums world I'm not sure how that's organised any more; can Discord chat links be embedded?

killing the forums was a mistake. Some people can't or don't use Discord, Twitter and Reddit and it's a lot easier to find forum threads and posts than it is to sift through discord

some mobile users mostly but there are people who stay away from third party platforms that are now forced to either make a third party account they don't want or get cut off from anything not in game

discord also has a web interface with almost identical functionality should one have trouble with the installed client

I find the main issue is that you can't really predict or control the long term state of third party platforms, so you can get security issues from decline in security or a platform becoming much less usable later on
