Heyo Scapers,

New archaeology dig site!!! Love it
4th Rex matriarch - amazing
Good job 😄 Happy to see those schedule changes!
I saw mention of dxp. I am starting to see a pattern here with this
These updates sound fun, looking forward to the new boss!
tbf DXP was expected by most players - it's been every 3 months on a pretty consistent schedule ^^
I meant like when exactly in that period it will start
May 17th
I do hope this will bring new life to this game
/s Content?
Is that it?
Really?
Yeah we are definitely in maintenance mode
New dig site is big. I think this is a pretty positive update
We used to get substantial updates weekly
This is embarrassing
I’ll give Jagex the benefit of the doubt that they’ve been starting and abandoning projects more frequently lately. However communication has been absolutely atrocious lately
A lot of games I've seen switched to a monthly model sadly
For the amount we pay in membership and the levels of MTX I would expect more
Especially compared to other games in the same price bracket
I get the Hero Pass fiasco scared them, but we deserve WAY more transparency in terms of what’s coming down the pipeline. Also investing significant resources into potential updates just to cancel them because backlash could be avoided by just… getting player feedback sooner
Overall I’ll take this over what we’ve gotten lately though
Talking about now cancelled summer event btw. I thought the beach was already permanent summer event anyways
Seems like it was unsustainable the amount of development that was focused on seasonal events. The constant cycle for Christmas/easter/summer/halloween seems like it was the only thing they were working on until this change
The new one was going to be brand new like Christmas and Easter
Different content and not just the same recycled skilling stations
Much better, honestly only feedback would be to not use the beach
Just no summer event for a year
But the focus on better and more permanent content is better as a lot of the higher level playerbase are running out of stuff to do
the new seasonal events might be new and fancy but it feels just like a regular old afk skilling event, intro quest - 5-10 mins repeatable daily content - back to afk skilling for event tokens
It’s definitely better but not something that should be taking a whole 3 months to develop each time
Like three months of your ENTIRE development team
Overall this is good news to hear. Seasonal events really don't need to be more than a 15 minute silly thematic quest/event that rewards cosmetics (some new and ideally all old) and that's it. The easter event was lovely but we really didn't need an entire landscape and AFK 'activities'
I hope with the beach at the very least we can still obtain the Athlete cosmetics for the Paris Olympics this year.
Like I said
The fact that we pay 11 or so USD a month and are bombarded with mtx
Meanwhile the other big mmos are releasing major content weekly or monthly for the same price is a joke
It's still so surprising that whole schedule and new things prepared around hero pass, when its canceled whole plans gone. That makes me feel sad they just wanted to imply more mtx by other things
glad hero pass had good reaction to remove it
still I believe if they would release th cosmetics at solomon store for example, would have more interest
Dont think cancelling was required (not that i would have bothered with it anyway) but its done now. Think all people wanted to know is what we could look forward to. Think it would have been fine to announce these plans for July and August and noone would have minded as long as they have the communication. When every update is a MTX update and thats all we can see its frustrating. Even the content coming I personally wont probably play but its just nice to see that there IS content coming. However WHEN is this fourth conjure coming??? Im losing my mind over it now lol
exactly this, not seeing proper update for multiple weeks except mtx is frustrating, this update is still not bad but not enough imo
Following up on this, i would like to also see the updated halloween event cancelled (in favor of bringing back the draynor hub from 2020/2021/2022) if it means we're able to see full development focus on permanent content for the rest of the year
So was the plan for this year just holiday areas and MTX with a few other updates scattered around? Cause that's what it looks like the plan was...
@narrow owl You have been asking about the Daemonheim dig site for a while!
i wonder what kind of relics there's gonna be from there
i was racking my brain over options, but i definitely don't want stuff like another gatestone or another door skip to be locked behind a relic
Door Surge-on: You can now surge through unlocked doors
the most appropriate i could think of was choosing which boss you see on every floor, but i'm not sure i'd even pick that
maybe if it works on hard mode it could be cool for hunting t99 pieces
but the daily free choose we have now doesn't work on hard mode
I hope this doesn't mark the removal of events. We wanted better events, like we used to get, not complete cancellation of them.
Like the blog post says itself there's a balance to be found.
I am really excited for Daemonheim archaeology.
It doesn't.
I don't believe that players dislike the events we have been bringing out, the feedback for Blooming Burrow and Christmas Village has been very positive, the request from players was to see more evergreen content hitting the game and this is why we made the changes we mentioned today, events will continue to happen but we wanna make sure we balance them out
This news is very welcomed with the upcoming quest (with its rewards), the new Rex and Arch site.
I think a fair compromise would be to make the holiday quests permanent, like in the case of Myth of the White Lands. The other features in the holiday hubs can remain seasonal.
Can’t wait for +100 relic power (seriously, please, I’d love an additional 100 relic power) and Conjure Dinosaur and Dragon (haha, jk, unless?)
Oh we for sure love the recent events, the Christmas one was especially good, it felt more like the old events we used to get
def. great stuff
Top notch announcement. I’m excited to see all these new game jams get implemented into the real game. Sad we won’t see an updated summer event but hopefully some aspects of the new trend of limited seasonal events has some sort of influence on the return of the Beach.
The Christmas event was great, was magical and traditional. The Easter event was also full of content. I particularly liked the traditional egg hunt activities. However, the rewards from the shops felt really grindy.
It wasn’t terrible. I was able to get all the rewards and some within the first two weeks. Farmed a total of 90k tokens iirc.
Mind you I just afk’d my character as I was at work. But I could see the benefit of a minor tweak in token drops as a necessary change
Definitely going to happen. Possible galvek boss in the future?
I'm glad to have The Beach back.
I was making the foils with Smithing and it was so so slow lol
Probably the second worst way to grind those
It was the machine or nothing
I sat at the molding station the entire time. Then did the Hunter method so I could find all 6 of the missing chocolate bunnies (total caught 500+)
Yeah that's fair
I hope the Ungael area for REQUIEM FOR A DRAGON doesn't give me the same issues that I had during Ancient Awakening. Kept crashing the game evetime I got off the boat. I almost couldn't finish it. I had to turn off Textures and it looked awful all washed out. I hope they fixed this for this new quest and area return or I will not be able to enjoy it.
I can say I'm really happy to see this updated roadmap. Last post really made it sound there's planned only one content update per month but I'm happy to see we're getting more permanent stuff now. Especially looking forward to where the story will lead next after Requiem for a Dragon.
I think it's been quite a long time since RS was getting weekly permanent content updates. Since 6th age began, I think it was significantly lessened.
Weekly permanent updates too much. Well rounded Monthly releases are a great thing
what level range do u guys think daemonheim arch will be around?
Exactly, I don't expect big updates every week; I just don't want b2b2b MTX/Merch 'updates' to be the norm and not meaningful perm content.
Completely agree. I'm fine with one firm content update per month and potentially some dev. log leading up to it. Even in pre-RS3 we didn't always get new content weekly. I remember there was this (albeit short) era in 2008 when future updates were promoted as one big update and one small update per month so we definitely didn't always get weekly content even in old days.
Would love to see a weaning of TH and more push towards a single simple cosmetic shop. No more gambling - this last TH event is another perfect example of how messed up it is. A Friend (for the sake of science) ended up spending a little under 300 keys to get the cape - they got 4 diamond chests and was pounding the table for some rubies. No one should have to spend $120 on a cosmetic. Broken system.
Yeah, I'd be happy with that.
i doubt it, 650 is already high enough to run basically every combination of relics you desire, minus CoE+zerk
and it would be a bit power creep-y if you could run those two together whilst running a third strong relic like death ward or fury of the small
would be cooler to me if relic power stayed at 650 but we had 5 slots instead of 3
that way you have meaningful decision making in running a few smaller relics instead of the big chonker that is CoE and just throwing in whatever other 2 relics you want
to saturate your relic power, because the relics are clearly balanced around their relic power cost
also i realise i've said relic power all this time, i hope its clear i mean monolith energy
I’m saying to add more because of the noob trap that is the Luck of the Dwarves relic power. I would personally prefer running CoE, LotD, and FotS as my relic powers because what I do on any particular day can change. Unless our character gains a second finger, I would rather hamper myself and not run other combat-beneficial/specific relic powers while using a combination of the LotD (to prevent FOMO) and other rings (both for skilling and combat purposes).
Hopefully the June update is a response to people enjoying archaeology but finding dungeoneering less enjoyable. If it ties in the elite dungeon storyline through the use of archaeology lore I"ll be very happy with this update, as normal and elite dungeons are currently very disjointed.
i don't have massive expectations, probably on par with senntisten dig site
its not an update that's gonna make people enjoy doing dungeoneering via daemonheim any more than they currently do
unless there's a super strong relic specifically for that
This looks exciting
I think Elite Dungeons would be better classed as Slayer Dungeons and give Slayer experience instead of Dungeoneering.
People come to Daemonheim with 120dg and can’t even form a party xD
I am Incredibly interested in the Daemonheim&Archeology content
I thought you would lol
You have no idea how much money I’m about to make selling Floors xD 🤑🤑🤑
big agree
you shouldn't be getting dung xp without doing daemonheim
if that means destroying the beach hole, making elite dungeons give slayer xp and converting all xp rewards from direct xp into bonus xp, that's worth it
that last one is just a good change in-of-itself
Its just funny watching 120’s struggle on frozen floors xD
I love DG but as a mobile player mostly daemonheim is pretty rough
I know that's my own restriction though
If somehow the arch site revived daemonheim or even just some kind of enjoyable DG exp that would be awesome
Or outfit tokens hehe I want that warped cosmetic set
I Dungeoneer on my ipad, its tricky but learnable
W77 for parties
I think the biggest issue is the minimal has been broken for 6+ months for Google phones
Mini map
O, you deff need a map
Yeah it's pretty bad haha
there must have been a lot of outcry at the lack of content I guess, glad they finally listened
and hopefully more info about the rest of the year comes very soon

I’m excited for the new dig-site!
Same
i'll just restate what i said earlier, please cancel any current development for the updated halloween event and instead give us the draynor hub from 2020/2021/2022 back with all its miniquests, all development should be focused on permanent additions to the game atleast up to summer 2025 when presumably the updated summer event would launch, but skipping it again for another beach and making 2025 the year of the updated halloween event would also be good. I don't think both should happen in the same year, lest we get another half-year of development resources being pooled mainly into temporary content
we definitely want the updated holiday events, but spreading them out is crucial
Such a weird shift to replace a repeatable Halloween event like Draynor Hub with, whatever nonsense 2023 gave, only to revert back to repeatable again for both Xmas and Easter.
could potentially do a poll on which event people want updated in 2025, summer or halloween
and the loser will just be beach/draynor again
Am picking up the Rex Matriarch boss - Osseous! What sort of feedback do you have from doing the previous Matriarchs that you'd like to see/not see?
It blows my mind that Jagex didnt save Necromancy’s release for last years Halloween event xD
I would honestly be okay with a “daily trick or treat” run around Lumby-Falador and a “help: NPC get a halloween costume” style fetch quest.
Nothing dev heavy really needs to be done. Maybe a spooky skybox and pumpkins around the overworld too.
I don't think I would like to see the draynor Hub again. At least not for the generic token grind.
I would like to see something that was akin to "til Death do is part" that was a fun Halloween event.
Well, as a new(er) mobile-only player, I'm disappointed with this decision🤦🏻♂️ ...Seriously, zero interest in Bossing, I generally avoid Daemonheim like the plague, and... There's not enough bankspace to get me hyped or invested in Archaeology at this point... 🤷🏻♂️
Caveat Lector: Actually, I am thrilled about Rellekka Graphical Update, but that's the ONLY thing I have to look forward to... 😒
The Graphic updates have been nice
I was like you with arch - lamped it to 86 for the necro quest. But since have fallen in love with it. Good grinding skill, good rewards and very mobile friendly. Would recommend giving it a go
That said, avoiding arch and pvm is probably neglecting like a third of the game 😂
Arch especially improves when you get gote and an augmented mattock. Train two skills at once while afking and earning huge rewards
...Except it isn't; bankspace =/= justify doing Arch, I can easily PVE w/o dealing with any/most bosses* and I can grind elsewhere on my own terms, TYVM. Basically, Bossing, in general, is boring AF and adding to Arch is a shoddy alternative to a brand new Summer event 💁🏻♂️
*Take, for example, Hermod; Outside of the Quest-required battle, I would never have bothered with him again EXCEPT he had those stupid drumsticks as a drop, so I fought him until I got them and I'll never bother with him again until a Quest forces me too 🤷🏻♂️
...Also, if Bossing and Arch make up 1/3 of rs3, then I think expanding content away from them should be a much higher priority in terms of making the game more balanced and varied 😑
i agree with you, but i think the draynor hub is probably closest in feel to the updated christmas and spring events we've had already, eg, different skilling activities, small thematic quest(s), a token grind for old cosmetics, so its probably a better fit even if its less fun of one
Skipping deathdealer entirely?
...I prefer the blue of Deathwarden, actually, over the the green of Deathdealer, plus the so-called "benefits" of Deathdealer are of no interest/consequence to me either~ 💁🏻♂️
Not sure what you mean by ‘so-called “benefits”’ — it’s power armour, i.e. it gives you a significant amount of additional damage
(Even before you take the instakill effect into account, since that can be replicated by the spell)
...That word, "significant," is doing an awful lot of heavy lifting in your (abysmal) attempt at being persusaive, but you know what is more persuasive? Not telling people how they should play the game and enjoying the way one chooses to play, which means there's absolutely nothing "significant" 'bout the Deathdealer, as I stated, to me~ 😉
I’m not trying to convince you otherwise or tell you how to play
Just questioning your implication that power armour is useless (which does read as an across the board dismissal, which many other players disagree with)
Would have been just as effective if that had read “plus the benefits of Deathdealer…”
Oh, please, I never once said it was "useless," I simply stated it is of no interest/consequence to me; At least have the decency to read what I wrote... 🙄
I’m specifically referring to the phrase “so-called” and the scare quotes
The benefits exist and are widely considered as such, even if you personally don’t care about them
Which is completely fine, I never intended to imply otherwise
Precisely, because those so-called "benefits" that you (and, apparently, the player base you claim to speak for) put so much emphasis on are, again, as I stated of no interest/consequence to me (and you will just have to live with that fact) 🤷🏻♂️
I’m not claiming to speak on behalf of anyone, I’m just saying that power armour has objective benefits compared to other types of armour (to the extent that I’ve seen people saying that tank armour is useless - a sentiment that I don’t entirely agree with either)
It’s fine to say that you don’t care about them, I’m not questioning that
But when you go further and phrase it in a way that suggests that “doing more damage and killing things faster” is of absolutely no value, that’s just wrong as a blanket statement (as opposed to a personal preference)
Yet, you can't grasp that, objectively, your argument is null/void from the get go, because these so-called "benefits" are, as I've stated more than once, of no interest/consequence to me~ 🙃 ...Also, when you throw around phrases, like "which many other players disagree with," that sounds an awful lot like trying to speak on behalf of others, be they real or fictitious (as it doesn't matter either way in the end) 🤔
...But, at the end of the day, the fact that Deathwarden is blue, not green like Deathdealer, will be forever more important and of far greater value, in every sense, than any of that DPS-nonsense you've continued to harp on about to me (and that is very much a personal, albeit blanket, statement about me, for me, and by me and you'll have to live with me choosing to play rs3 like that) 😇
Everybody's entitled to play the way they want, but i think its also good to be aware that playing in a manner that is statistically inefficient will potentially get people to call it out, they don't mean anything bad by it, its just a matter of helping your fellow player be the best they can be, even if the help is unsolicited
There's no need to get argumentative about it, just say you don't want the help and leave it at that
That was quite the interesting argument to read
https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/1c72ywi/what_changes_would_you_like_to_see_to_the_beach/
Time to get rid of the Dung hole for the beach 😜
for the greater good
I just had a thought about the Ring of Kinship and how it could possibly get stat boosts outside of Daemonheim to encourage players to actually want to upgrade it.
naw we need mansion of death as a permanent hallowe'en hub
cancelling the summer one makes sense because it's not a holiday unless you're in school
they'll come through with the hallowe'en event
+1
though i can see them not doing it because of the misleading title
the questions only ask about rewards and QoL
well at least theres been some ground broken with the summer event, so next year we should expect it revamped with all other limited events
Do you reckon removing dg hole would get people back to daemonheim?
You could also think otherwise. Why is dung hated so much people love the hole.
You might say update dung, but the scope is probably pretty big to just do that.
I love dg but mostly play on mobile and so it's quite painful
Especially single Google phones have a perma broken minimap
dg is practically only lead-forward gameplay, with the dg hole being fully afk
daemonheim not being balanced for about 8 years as far as combat goes, didn't help
elite dungeons having better token farm rates
and with how long it's been in the game now, most people will have played it so much they're fatigued
add in being unable to even enter, if your bank is full
and ya can see why it died down
many of the rewards from the dg shop are pretty niche too
possibly, though they said 'stopped' and 'cut' so it's unclear whether that work will ever be resumed
yes, as their only options would basically be daemonheim, sinkholes, ED, and the TH minigame
People that dislike Dungeoneering tend to have a fundamental misunderstanding on howto effectively train the skill.
There are a lot of players on w77 that are capable of giving tutorials but the current NPC explanation does a terrible job. (Players need to take the initiative and ask others for help here)
Removing the Sink hole and no longer rewarding Dungoneering Exp from Elite Dungeons would bring people back to Deamonheim since that is the only place real Dungeoneering takes place. Having more players visiting the Lobby will help everyone get refamiliarised with the skill.
The rewards need to be updated 100% and I think Player Polls might be a good way to find out what to add but there is a reason the skill was so popular for so long at its peak and its not because it isn’t fun.
Im curious to what the new Relic is going to be
cross-world matchmaking at a top level (eg, in the ring interface next to form party) would be amazing
you might think there's nobody playing, even across the entire game, but that's because they know they can just hold out for the beach hole or lamp/daily the skill, or do EDs
these other sources of xp need to be totally annihilated
The problem with matchmaking is:
Someone unfamiliar with Dungeoneering enters Daemonheim lobby
A team is currently in a floor so the lobby is temporarily empty (floor time: between 5-20 minutes
New player waits 30 seconds - 5minutes max
says “This skill sucks”
Leaves
10 seconds later Dungeon party returns to lobby.
Repeat.
This is why Hub worlds are there. W77 is the offical Dungeoneering world. I have been there every day since before the Christmas event this year.
Players just don’t understand patience and player interaction anymore and tbh I partially blame Afkscape for that.
This example seems to misunderstand what matchmaking is, as long as the game properly shows that you can queue into a team of other players queueing for a given floor theme, it shouldn't be much of a problem
you could even allow people to queue into ongoing floors that don't yet have 5 players
if i click queue occult, the game should look for literally anybody in the entire game currently queueing for or already doing occult, and put me together with them
unless they turn their matchmaking off (it should be on by default)
Players that know what they are doing will never use the matchmaking system since it is just a better process filling your own parties.
Having a matchmaking system full of people that dont know what they are doing is going to build random parties full of frustrations.
Having a GP incentive for party leaders (maybe 100k gp for the host to run a Large 5man group) might help players want to learn how to play properly
matchmaking would work. I remember in WoW I would queue up for a dungeon as a dps and had to wait an hour or more to get in. Didn’t stop me. I would do something else in the meantime
This isn’t WoW though
Here is a thread suggesting some very basic Lobby changes I think would be a really good start to reviving interest in the skill
helldivers has really changed my mind on the viability of matchmaking, playing with randoms (even ones who don't know what they're doing) is totally still fun because the game itself is just that enjoyable
and i think dungeoneering is also on that level of enjoyment
So MMORPGs can’t take concepts from one another? If I’m waiting for a theoretical match making group at say Castle Wars I’m not gonna sit idly at CW lobby. I’m going to go wood cutting or PvM or whatever.
The same could be said for waiting for a Dungeoneering lobby
@scenic lichen
Did you look at the posted thread?
Yeah I did
Problem is DXP so close to update only 3 weeks to explore it until DXP. can DXP hold off?
Would love to see a taper off of dxp frequency
...I concur with this assessment; Nearly my initial experience with the skill when I was F2P shortly after rs3 was released on Mobile 🤔 ...Tried again, later, once I was P2P (thanks to Amazon Prime) around the '21 Hallowe'en event and... Still hated it 🤷🏻♂️
...Then they made that change where you can't bank dungeoneering token boxes anymore this past January, so I opened a bunch I kept banking over the past few years and bought out nearly everything in the two reward shops that wasn't specifically tied to dungeoneering (or combat gear that I wouldn't use/already have) and, yet, I still got a ton of tokens left over (and many more boxes to open too, eventually)~ 🙃
I think this could definitely work with daemonheim. Would almost definitely need to have the alt1 minimap keys baked into the main game so you can easily pick up where another players exploration left off if they happened to get distracted or weren't quite a competent dger
The problem I see is that matchmaking and afking would be very abusable
There are also a bunch of scenarios where having someone who has no idea what they’re doing (or afk, or even worse trolling) can be a big problem
e.g. emote statues, warped portals, switches, Blink, Stomp, etc.
there would need to be some forgiveness in party size difficulty probably, i don't think the game should be spawning a 5 player emote room if you were a 3 player premade who got 2 matchmakers to fill to 5, it should just be a 3 player room since the floor is already set to 3 in party size difficulty
it shouldn't change midway through just because more people joined, that would be weird
on the extreme end though, it probably doesn't feel amazing to start a dungeon as 1 player, get filled to 5 and still get awarded xp as if you're just 1 player, nor get challenged in the slightest by rooms since they're all scaled to 1 player
but whether that's a big enough problem to require a solution, i dunno
I think there's more work to do than just matchmaking though. There's a few things they could add to make it more relevant. Maybe an invention perk bind, necro support (could nerf to like one summon or something), I think some of the puzzles would need to be scrapped for scaling. Also some puzzles just suck to do like the maze, ferrets etc
Maybe if you queue into a:
Small - 2 people total
Medium - 3/4 total
Large - up to 5
Have the exp as a base for each size and increase with speed and multipliers which would encourage more people but then solo is semi okay as well
Jagex didn't learn from the massive negative response 2 years ago
That is a quick way of getting banned in here
I am advising you to not post anything like that again
Nothing on the old forums posts got banned...?
Have a good day Ty
And no excuse, the forum i had made 2 years ago stood til the forums were deleted
Are we not allowed to have a #rants?
We removed the rants channel since it got really toxic
wonder why...
You wonder why a channel dedicated to negative comments was toxic?
The walk pathing for the barrel room puzzle is atrocious and should be ninja fixed and it is one of the most skipped puzzles but I wouldn’t remove any of them.
You can get lock melts and the dungeoneering outfit for puzzle skips for ferret rooms.
Removing puzzles means adding new ones
Yeah some fresh puzzles to replace some of the less enjoyed ones would be great. I know that's so low on the list of priorities though hahah
And yes am currently grinding for my dg outfit to skip puzzles
Come to w77 for party :3 we gotchu
I appreciate that! Am only online atm cause I can't sleep haha - 2am here in Aus
