#Quest Requirement/EXP Reward Overhaul

One common issue I've found in quests is skill requirements that don't really make sense (Why does The Mighty Fall require 72 defense and 79 attack for example?), as well as many quests having had their exp rewards changed into lamps (not ALL quests have had that change, however).

What I suggest is an overhaul that simplifies quest skill requirements to be more in-line with the content of the quest, while also changing the exp rewards from quests to be lamps (so that those of us who wish to complete certain quests can do so without massively leveling outside of our self-imposed restrictions).

Note: I am NOT suggesting that we remove all skill requirements for quests, simply make them more available to lower level accounts, even if that means it becomes a more challenging quest if you just hit the required levels.

Feel free to give me ideas on how to change or improve this concept!

Well the kyzaj is a t70 weapon. So while I'm not sure why the attack requirement is 79, a n attack requirement of 70(+) does make sense.

I am not sure where the defence req is coming from tho.

Fair enough, I assume that with time it's likely these changes will be made and pures/skillers will simply need to be patient. I am happy that these changes are already being made. I will go ahead and close the post given that it's already happening (I will close it in a few days in case anyone else wanted to voice an opinion and I see reason to keep it open)

If it helps, I got a few requests for a more skill requirement focused project after the above shipped. Here's the individual requests I documented from it.

I've written a JIRA for The Mighty Fall and added it to the list. (Though I think you'd have a hard time completing that quest without using one of the combat styles, as it's inherently a combat-focused quest.) And as noted, you have to wield the kyzaj for one scene and it has suitable Attack & Strength requirement to equip for its level (70 for the basic, 75 for the superior).
I think it went up to 79 Attack & Strength due to the 80k direct XP it gives (those'd have to be converted to a lamp with same req to rub if either quest accept skill req is lowered).

Not immediately seeing direct checks in The Mighty Fall for Constitution, Defence or Slayer. Needs further investigation but likely those were to express your combat prowess, balance against your ability to soak damage from opponents statted at that level, and have suitable skill requirements to be classified as a Master quest. As long as the level 69 & 79 combat lamps can't be used on those skills unless those requirements are met, seems initially doable to remove some or all of those 3 reqs, though you'd have a hard time since the combat encounters are balanced for 75-85 melee and some of the bosses hit like a truck.

If there's any other quests you feel should be on the list, I can write a ticket for those too.

I'm happy to see this list of quests to be reviewed for accept requirements. Ultimately what often affects which quests I take is whether the XP reward is a lamp or forcibly given. Ideally I would like to see all combat quest XP rewards be lamps, though I know that may be a larger undertaking than the changes of accept requirements. I'll do a quick look through the available quests to see if there are any that I feel should be included on the list you linked.

That's an ideal, but in practice each XP in each quest is a unique lamp with unique give and reclaim mechanics, so it's helpful to know which would be most valued to prioritise accordingly. I started gradually chipping away at quest XP rewards back when we had TAPP and now we have quarterly gamejams, so it's slow going to work towards that ideal.

The only one that I didn't see on that list was Salt in the Wound with it's 60 Defense requirement, but I think many of us are still trying to forget that quest.

Devious Minds requires 65 smithing due to needing to smith Mithril before the skill rework.

This isn't needed anymore. Can we change the smiting requirement?

I have a couple of requirements questions.

For the "Quiet Before the Storm" quest, do players need to complete the process of becoming a Temple Knight, which involves finishing "The Wanted" quest? Or can they initiate the quest by starting the Temple Knight recruitment process, which can be demoted to the "Recruitment Drive" quest? The current requirements for the "Quiet Before the Storm" quest are completing the Imp Catcher and Wanted quests.

This next question is an achievement requirement question. Since 7 out of 9 Wilderness Easy Achievements can be completed in F2P, is it possible to make the remaining two easy achievements unlocked in F2P? There is a positively received thread called "F2P Easy Wilderness Achievements Suggestion" that is making minor changes to the remaining two achievements. These two achievements do not require member content or skills to be completed. It would be awesome to have an easy level teleport to short distances in the Wild.

Can we the updated xp rewards OSRS has for Legend's Quest, Grim Tales, Morning's End Part I and II and Swan Song?

For Fremennik Trials can be allowed to use a Raw Bass and Ring of Charos instead of a Raw Shark. Like you can after the quest.

Getting a raw shark isn't terribly hard, just kill mogres for it (that's how I did it on my Ironman).

I think an alternative way to do the section of the quest is good. It's a post quest reward.

Perhaps The Lord of Vampyrium shouldn't have as high of a def requirement. The only real reason for the def requirement is to wear the t70 hybrid armor. I wish there was a way to do the quest with lower defence overall just because river of blood has no defence requirements.

You have to equip if for the final boss battle. No getting around the requirement.

Then maybe make it similar to warpriest armor and give it multiple tiers with t70 being the highest? I genuinely forgot about that armor being required for the fight itself.

You are going to need the amour it's the hardest quest Boss in the 5th Age

Bump now that the Ring of Vitur exists, we could feasibly remove the defense requirement now that there's an alternative.

House Drakan armor is used not just for the battle but also for the infiltration part. No reason to change that one, its not arbitrary. Its not at all reasonable that you'd use a ring for the infiltration part as you mingle in high vampyre society.
