Geodes are the main target, but there are plenty of items that you need to open which can be annoying to do. Geodes for example give about a 50% chance for a non stackable gem, so you can only open about 50 of them before they fill your inventory up. Birds nests are a lesser example, since you turn 1 full nest into an empty nest and some other item (seed, jewelry, etc). This could really use a fix, but just noting the output doesn't really fit and would almost be too powerful on its own.
I propose a middle level tool that while in the inventory, spends 1-2 charges to note certain items when you "open" them. Gems from the Geodes, Birds nests, and whatever else gets added onto it once opened would be noted, allowing for a better experience when opening them. It's not really all that powerful as its just a minor utility item, so it shouldn't be too expensive to obtain and use, but the cost per use can't be too high because of the mass number of items it would be used with, so even 2 divine charges is quite expensive for such an insignificant utility but isn't absurdly costly either.
This could solve the minor issue things like Geodes have, but also be adapted to potentially help with many other situations as seen fit.
