We need a more transparent grand exchange. The websites we use for price checking are ran by people being paid to allow manipulation. These people are being banned weekly.
I suggest a grand exchange that allows for competitive sales. I would like to see all of the sellers offers so the sellers must compete to give the buyer the best price. For example 1 sailfish for 7k or 100k sailfish for 5k each. This would also work great for rares giving the buyer the best price.
#grand exchange update

Totally agree and support this suggestion.
I think the best way to enable transparency is like the Auction House in WoW. It works well and would fit the grand exchange vibe.
Very cool. I’m not sure how that works but it looks very similar to what I was saying.
I also think this fits jagex agenda in fighting inflation and scummy manipulation
Basically, it’s exactly as you described, however there is no longer “buy offers” which would be the biggest difference compared to what we have now on RS. Transparency is key though and that’s why I also like being able to see the username of the seller.
Could have something more like EVE, which does allow buy offers in addition to sell offers: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/2-9nhCCScIw/maxresdefault.jpg
Hopefully they do something quick. They ban a whales account but they have many others. The only way to really shut them out would be to do something like this.
Was really hoping this would get updated this year. Or maybe be announced as a upcoming update for this year
Look at how bad bph was manipulated

I’m sure we will see something soon
Max cash update was awesome. Hopefully they follow up with this
It will also work in their favor by making more people want to use the grand exchange to make their trades. This way there will be more taxes being taken out of the game
Being able to see market volume in real time would be huge too.

Bumppp
This makes sense @op and comments below are smart. 👋 tl;dr below btw
⌛ 'Til this *potential *update, I'd say after years of using and actively volunteering to provide item price checks amongst the major price checkers ||(and formerly on the Rs3 forums when those threads were still alive. rip.) ||Currently: Flippaholics is the best/most reliable Price Checking site/discord bot etc- *at this time.
⏰ Disclaimer: This is NOT Financial Advice. I am simply an occasional volunteer Price/Item checking contributor with regards to the item updates/price checking segments and I have 0 stake and this is 100% my opinion & experience only - always make your own well informed decisions. I am not liable.
💠 Method: When I do place a price check input (buy or sell) I do so with very intense Anti-Manipulation verification indicators, to the best of my ability, on the image I upload.
🖼️ **Reference: **If you wish to visually view what I speak above ⬆️ , Then, please perform a Price Check on Flippaholics Pro with the item: Omni Guard. (you will see name and price check with many timestamps, rsn, and ingame clock and local timestamps and even a watermark, idk if that helps but I do it anyway for the integrity of the game.
🤯 Why?! I hold myself to the Gold standard and keep honor above all.- more on this below.
Potential Solution: If more folks participated (salute to those who already do) in the price checking with inclusion of something along the lines of a reasonable timestamp and/or anything I mentioned above. This would result in a community driven, Say NO to manipulation, Excellent GE price checking tool, and perhaps makes sense to be built upon the existing flippaholic industries foundation as it's found in almost every Rs3 related Discord server and has a solid website.
👋 tl'dr: Amongst the many price checking tools & sites= Flippaholics appears to be the most reliable at this time and hopefully it is devoid of corruption/manipulation or else we will be Very, Upset-to say the least.
🌊 With that said - Let's get some more new folks dropping some price checks on that stellar resource with a timestamp and integrity. Alas, we may end up in a win win situation if this occurs- **this is my hopium as they say. **
Cheers ~ Radagon GG
Also, true that.
@lethal flume That place you're trying to say is in our filter. Feel free to repost your message with the word censored as E** if you like ^^
Thank you I had no idea what was going on 🥹
My only issue with flipaholics is they charge some members a premium. They are also a third party relying on members uploading. Anyone can photoshop a time stamp it’s very simple to fake a screen shot. I really am hoping rs takes matters into their own hands. A transparent and competitive g.e will drive the prices into the right direction. It will force people to use the grand exchange and it will take more tax go out of the game. Overall it will balance the economy and remove third party manipulation
the best implementation i've seen is in guild wars 2, where you can see all the current buy and sell orders to get an idea of the state of the market for each item. you know exactly what price will buy/sell instantly, or where to set the price so it probably gets fulfilled eventually.
Yes that looks good
Another good example! We need something!
Agree'd!
I would appreciate anything of this caliber too - 100%
It really fits their agenda. I believe we will see something like this soon. Hopefully if it’s not already in the works they see this
Maybe they can even add a rs2 to rs3 wealth transfer. I know these websites make money transferring gold and charge a fee for it. Jagex could do it and tax the gold. This way it eliminates real world trade. And potential scams
support.
Big support, even in minecraft there is better grand exchange/bazaar systems than RS 🙂
Lol, kinda sad 😂
Let’s gooooo. Bump

Another one
While the concept of a more transparent grand exchange raises interesting points, I have concerns about its potential impact, particularly regarding competitive sales and full visibility of seller offers.
Drawing from real-world business parallels, large corporations with deep pockets can afford to operate on slim profit margins, often overshadowing smaller competitors. Translating this to Runescape, if all offers on the grand exchange were fully visible, it might disproportionately benefit wealthier players. They could dominate the market with lower prices, making it difficult for players with less capital to compete.
This could lead to an economy where the rich get richer, using their financial power to control market prices, which might not be healthy for the game's trading dynamics.
Moreover, a significant portion of players, myself included, find enjoyment in the money-making aspects of Runescape. Introducing such transparency could drastically alter this aspect of the game, potentially ruining the experience for those who enjoy the strategy and challenge of the current trading system.
In pursuit of better prices for buyers, we must also consider the wider implications on market balance and player enjoyment. A change like this could fundamentally shift the nature of trading in Runescape, affecting not just the economy but also the enjoyment derived from the game by a considerable section of the community.
I think I see what you’re trying to say. In simpler terms you’re trying to say that now the rich can buy up an item and control that sector and control the price on that sector?
The same thing happens now. However we have to rely on a third party source to determine the price. So if those same people who bought up the product are also posting higher fake prices were more susceptible to manipulation.
The nice thing about a transparent system is it will be harder for them to do this.
Lol exactly. This is already happening. The dupe hat people just flip/new and old rares and get richer and they control the price checking sites. BPH for one example would have been much cheaper but the merchers don't want to take a loss so they buy them all up and hoard them and manip the sites to retain their value.
.
I guess if they add this (same as Crushout/Zahti's reply, it would be not bad to put it into the game and disable it every x days. Just to try avoiding problems or so 😮
Sounds a little similar to current PoF buyers & those requests. A board with multiple options, but than like this suggestions and via the clerk
I like it
I like this. I hope they roll it out soon!!
@woven bane any info on this?
bumpp!
Auction house, actually not a bad idea.
It's not illegal as gambling, and its pull people that go as far as a desperate need.
Yet, we should make sure to have a minimum price range to not put GE out of the picture.
I agree that the Grand Exchange needs to me more transparent so to eliminate the need to check 'street prices' that are often manipulated, or have had a history of being so. The GE should include a history of actual completed sale prices, allowing a buyer to make a more informed decision.
This would also elimimate a lot of scammers who ask you to help them with their buy limits. Youll be able to see that there are no offers for the price theyre charging
Little messy explanation on my end, i can elaborate if needed
👍
Bumppss

I think every player should have the ability to run their own personal 'mini-market' on a 'Player-Exchange'. The grand exchange should still be a thing for sure.
The player Exchanges could be accessible at 'Menaphos Grand Exchange'.
Where players can have multiple listings(5-10), of any amount of any item.
The player would be able to set their own prices for the item/s they offer.
Search the 'Player Exchange' by item name or player name.
Searching the item name shows all of the listings for said item,
searching the players name shows all of the said players listings.
Searching by players name should only work by exact search criteria.
The 'Player Exchange should include relevant mechanics from the regular 'Grand Exchange' needed to run smoothly.
bump! The ge system is very dated and could use some love
Sounds interesting but also feel this would make merching a thing of the past.
Yes, it would affect the merchers who can’t read trends of what an when to buy.
bump
Something as basic as adding a toggle option in the exchange to display the most recent trade price would fix the issue I've had since the exchange's inception.
I wouldn't have this be the only price shown to avoid low volume items scams .
No experience in coding but something like that sounds so simple to do
Surely this would be better than the misleading "current item market price" that is shown (which isn't even the current price of the item lol).
Yea anything at this point would be nice 🫡
Exactly! This is already happening and has been for a long time. The only people who are afraid of a better ge are the people who are guilty of maniping and/or hoarding.
bump!
So, this' just an absolutely terrible idea, end of story, and I stand by the existing GE set-up 👎🏼
👎
Glad we agree that this' a terrible idea~! 👎🏼😜👎🏼
Context matters
Not the best idea. I think the way GW2 does it is undeniably the best way to avoid price manipulation. Show lowest price first, show many items are this price, and base your own price on this. RIP price manipulation.
OSRS really needs this as well.
We thinking this will be on roadmap Tuesday?
I'd like a more transparent G.E, but if we look at history the grand exchange is one spaghetti mess of code that probably only the veteran devs are willing to touch.
doubtful it will make it on the roadmap
As I have said in the past the best way to combat manipulation is by providing the last 500 - 1,000 sales on all items on the websites Grand Exchange page a single player even a group of players being able to fake 500 - 1k entries is not easy
If a player buys more than one of something at a time then it should be one listing out of the total 500 - 1k shown since it happens at once and are not individual sales
This comes up everyday. I have proof of people in the top ranks third party price check sites manip item prices for their own benefit
If mods would like that proof please pm me
Bump.
There are still some good folk out here homie, such as myself who is happy to take billions in loss (not that I want to but if i have to I won't hesitate)
All to say I would do that in order to price report current prices at their legit values
and I know
There are many others like me** (who just drop Price Reports so the Community can benefit from selling their items at a VALUE Price 🙂 )** , you have simply found a few, minority manipulating outliers I believe. Lmk though I'm not always right, no one is.
I think you missed the top ranks part of what I said. Litterally the ones running the sites are involved
The RuneScape economy should be entirely independent and not influenced by a single individual or third-party service. Items within the economy are severly over inflated and lacks transparency. There is a simple fix to this - Jagex should include in the Grand Exchange a purchase history, where each and every item shows a last 10 transaction, displaying what people have been willing to buy and sell a given item for.
I support that
I’d like further context into this. Anything to expose a potential scam or corruption.
There’s more coming. Just waiting for other parties. However in short we had a group of legit guys who would share our buys and sells so we could weed out the fake trades on that site. Everyone involved on that site would drag us when we posted real sales if it wasn’t to their liking. Until we all got banned. We had members that were ranked in there too. Lots more proof will come to Reddit in the coming days

something like this would be nice
can't post the image but for OSRS, they have a real time price checker on OSRS wiki
shows the most recent buy and sell
Yikes. It's that kind of BS that imo Jagex should perm ban accounts for.

Other areas of the GE could use an update too, which would further justify spending some time on it
making it easier to search item categories like food, potions etc
maybe something to make navigating potion doses less tedious
reworking the sets interface
there has to be a better way to navigate the set options now vs when it was first made
and also adding more sets
I just wish we could see the offers on the G.E. so that we can know the supply and demand and adjust what we do accordingly
Lots of manip by that price. Checking site this week. Lots of people lost bills
I can here today to make a similar suggestion, though mine was a more simple/shallow, "I want to see what people are buying so I know what's worthwhile to craft."
I very much like these ideas. And, while I can see how there would still be opportunities to drive inflation, I believe there will be enough people willing to sell at or below the trendlines to keep it under control, or even drive it down.
Ya there would still be a lot of merching opportunities everyone wants this. I’m not sure why jagex hasn’t addressed the issue yet
Still no update hmm?
