Anima crystals can be obtained randomly from motherlode maw and metamorphic geodes, but have no use once max reputation has been achieved at GWD2. To a lesser extent they exist as a travelling merchant item with no benefit to players who have achieved this goal.
I suggest providing an alternative use for these crystals, such as replenishing KC or providing a temporary buff when fighting a particular faction.

Not AFK for challenge modes and lower level players. Suggested this as shard provides higher multipliers for KC and maxing out is fairly trivial. Other suggestions welcome.
No need to shift rep when the crystal gives reputation to a desired faction directly.

fwiw challenge modes can be afked its just not as efficient as manually killing so guides dont really get written for them since the only reason to do hm is the 100kc achievement

Alternating rep is in relation to the prior suggestion that you can convert anima crystals to say goebie charms and other reputation points/items
The bulk of GWD2 is AFK. The rest are niche instances that can at times depending on the player be afk’d. Lower level players aren’t the ones farming GWD2 or making it afk. Nor are the ones actively utilizing anima shards
