#Fort Forinthry

They conscript civilians prior to EGWD
one day soon we will find out what happened to vallance
So it’s definitely a mix
inshallah
If it hadn't been for what Veilinius said, I would argue he was genuinely just old and sick
Because no npcs ever imply otherwise, they only say the White Knights are taking advantage of him
Denulth, the Museum
Like, there doesn't need to be something more going on
Old weak puppet king resulting in a de facto coup is plenty intriguing
And actually believable
But then we got Veilinius suggesting something more
And having a crown on his table
It was always pretty obvious there was more involved
Not necessarily because of in-game
But the mods have teased storylines etc. around that very question
It’s been clear they’ve been thinking there’s more involved with Vallance for a bit now
That random quest pitch on the survey
About King Vallance "returning" to Falador and you helping Tiffy investigate what the king was up to
Was plenty intriguing
Almost suggested Vallance might be an antagonist??
In this random quest pitch, at least
And returning would mean he wasn't sick after all, he was actually off somewhere else - doing what?
I’d be very surprised if that Vallance didn’t end up being a fake
I always took that as Veilinius would return as him
Well, not always
But given what we know now
I assume that’s what they’d do
Hmm
That fits, I guess
A couple people in the Discord here have pointed out
That "Vallance" sounds oddly similar to "Veilinius"
What if there never was a Vallance
Veilinius says "the less said about King Vallance, the better"
Which can be interpreted in several ways
And he does have a crown on his table
Vallance -> Vey Lance -> Veilinius
Im prettttttttty sure that the next update is that Moia has sent out a declaration that anyone that can hold land in the Wilderness will be given a Duke title
Under her
And then Evil Dave builds a fort next door
That seems pretty obvious
How could the story go any other way
See Dave waving from atop his Keep “HIYA NEIGHBOR!”
We must consider
Who is Dave's elusive Uncle Nigel?
According to the Evil Dave court case
Nigel wants Dave to follow in his trade
But it isn't stated what this trade is
Oziach also notes he has not actually met Uncle Nigel so can't be certain he exists
But let us assume that he does
My only issue with that is it seems hard to pull off
Unless Veilinius has been every king of falador
Since it’s inception
Surely people would realize this random guy came in and isn’t actually the heir?
He had to have been born from the prior king right?
Depends
He devoured the prince and stole his form
Either that or
He has been every king of Falador.
What's Warbreaker?
Realized thats a spoiler
I wonder how that would actually effect Asgarnia
A Sanderson book
Yes
Veilinius does say that he rebuilt human civilization and that he is the power behind the throne
And Tiffy in Recruitment Drive mentions that the higher-ranking members of the Temple Knights have "almost complete control over this kingdom, plus a few others, so I hear"
So it might be that this entire time the three kingdoms have been a sham puppeted by Veilinius
Asgarnia more so than the others
@bold quest Thoughts?
In fact
This could even explain some of the stuff Solmestix has pointed out here
Why King Roald is so incompetent
Or why King Ulthas seemed to be for no apparent reason doing things to sabotage and weaken his own kingdom
Solmestix thought Ulthas was insane
But what if Ulthas was deliberately trying to destroy Kandarin
Because he knew the awful truth
But then Ulthas dies from an "accidental arrow fired during a hunting trip"
Who fired that arrow, Denn
Avernic?
But everyone knows about Kandarin; it's the largest human kingdom
But it would be interesting if Raddallin was also Veilinius
It would be weird that he brought the Zamorakians in though
Given how much he hates the Zamorakians
Well I’m not sure if he does
I assume he does
Since Zarosian
Maybe he used the Zamorakians as tools then discarded them when they no longer served a purpose
It seems like he tried to do the opposite of discard them
Unless this was all a psyop

The emissary of Zamorak who appears in Kara's dream claims that the Knights of Falador could have destroyed the Kinshra at any time but that they keep them around so the people will need them
What a strange claim to make
UNLESS
Unless?
Vei
Yo the art is comin out
Some of the production work that went into a smaller update for a new Fort.
My work here was mainly to create the model sheets & paint overs to work from.
Initial Fort designs by https://www.artstation.com/barkbrush !
Models for the Fort itself by
https://www.artstation.com/anoukdebruyne - Fort and Walls, layout & project management
https://ww...
im honestly surprised they let you customize the chapel
considering how much they wanted to move away from player god alignments
Environmental designers gone rogue
Some of the production work that went into a smaller update for a new Fort.
"a smaller update"
Did no one tell him
I suppose if there is to be future updates to the fort then this might be considered a smaller update?
I liked the no seren comment
I was just thinking last night how the random chunks of rubble in that area were definitely placed there because a building is going there and they don’t want people walking through.
Steps onto the walls... Some kind of watchtower, perhaps?
They wanted us to be able to climb onto the walls but it wasn't mechanical so couldn't be added, it was just an idea for a cosmetic thing
Future content perhaps?
You know one thing I really appreciate here is that the buildings actually have visible rooves?
By Jiminy, I haven't had them on while inside
I'll have to remedy that
@hazy river Look at this
Love it
I believe the windows are level, it's the timbers around them that are causing them to look uneven
Theo so smug
Castle Kassel
Also I know it’s just concept art but that lighting sketch shows buildings in the places we assumed new buildings would be added. Food for thought I suppose?
if there's arbitrary no-walk areas or debris, presumably there will be something new there so it would stand to reason
since "we need something there" was part of the "how to let people not be instanced but not look weird" solution
Ooh
Well spotted
What sort of jobs would a Marcher Lord's fort require that we don't have currently filled?
We have an architect/builder (Bill), a banker (Copperpot), a gardener (Zoe?), a steward (Aster), and a logistics expert (Sivi). Oh and a priest.
i dont think approval rating thing is working right
i boosted on Monday and my approval rating is 68% even though I boosted for 7 days
were you at 100 already
it's also giving me the option to boost it again
even though I should have a current operating boost
isn't it up to a cap of days? So if you boosted it for 7 days, 2 days later you could still keep boosting up to a cap?
i was not, and it doesn't give any indication that my last boost was running
Interesting on the second part. I think it prevents degrading rather than reboosting to 100 though
ofc the way it's phrased sounds like "free 100%, period"
yeah, I'm still 100% and capped out on days (besides the 1 day since I last checked)
Looks at how poor I am. "I mean.....
Idk this is sus
smaller than a POH rework or a skill
But is it bigger than a breadbox?
Has it ever come up I wonder like why exactly the adventurer would just stroll into Varrock to see the King to end up in possession of this fort
That's sort of just what we do
We just wander into peoples' houses conveniently when they are having problems
That is sort of classic storytelling but in a lot of recent storytelling it seems like it's preceded by some kind of invite or the story is written such that you might stumble upon something and become curious/invested
Maybe we were on our way to raid the White Tree for fruit again?
Rather in this story thread we just traipse into Varrock and are like "wuh wait the king wants something"
We were stopping in to use the public restroom
...What's a restroom?
Here we overhear voices coming from the throne room
Considering how many quests we start by randomly approaching people
It actually seems more organic to be passing by the throne room and happen to overhear stuff going on
Why were we in the palace to begin with? I don't know, why were we there to randomly begin any number of other quests?
I choose to believe the town criers throughout the kingdom have been announcing the King is looking for adventurers, maybe even mentioning what the job is and we went to apply.
That or we are walking around and see someone who is clearly in distress so we go ask them what is wrong.
This, firstly is how I see it
BUT
We are like link
breaking into people's places
minus pot breaking
we misclick and literally kill them
I love Minish Cap...forget pot breaking, I just run all around digging up every patch of ground I can for mysterious shells.
Actually speaking of Town Criers
I remember the april fools where we could kill generic men and women to get child jmod drops to raise on POF
There's some great dialogue with the man in the house near the Falador furnace
Where he asks what you're doing in his house
And you say you're exploring
And he's like "But... Why are you exploring in my house?"
The 2006 Falador update added so much character to the place
But at least two of those unique men/women have since been consigned to the void
The snobby rich woman who had the Party Room dropped on her mansion
And the paranoid man in an upstairs house that was obliterated by the Artisans' Workshop
He's free now
incinicrated with the updated
I like to think they just have a secret room full of "dead" NPCs like Skyrim.
But when you cease to exist, you suffer in a way
having the king send us an invite or something to start the fort wouldve probably gone against the clean break idea
Imagine
Like I said, if you gone to the fort before the quest, there was a notice there
oh is there?
thats cool
see they think theyre being smart but i would take the teletab walk to varrock and boom
So here's a question
Will we ever know what the Wilderness wall actually is in-lore
Who built it, when, and for what purpose?
Silly, but yes
I mean they forced me to teleport when I said yes
but yes you are correct
Just wait til you hear about how I exploited Love Story
Where the WOM gives you teletabs to modify
in a weird and meta logic i hope they never explain the wilderness wall so that they can one day remove it
oh yeah he gives you a bunch right
yup
Hmm, in this, are you imagining the Wilderness being made a safe place?
not really?
Yes, and you can obtain more repeatedly by - Dropping and asking again, I want to say?
not any more safer than it is right now
although they are removing the threat system so i guess it will be
but i do think its purpose is largely not needed any more when you have to try fairly hard to enter a pvp state
and it just doesnt look very pretty
Still a perilous land of monsters and such
But considering its existence is never acknowledged in lore
oh this is more of like a gameplay/game world consideration
Maybe deleting it would make sense
lorewise its basically made out of used tinfoil
That's what I meant
Still kind of dangerous for a noob to stumble into
Although
If they removed it
eh not even the lower levels really
free bob
He can no longer enter Kandarin because of the way WWM works now
also i would assume just the visuals of the wilderness would let people know that its a dangerous area
and i mean worst case with current death costs
a new player dies to a greater demon and has to drop like
maybe genuinely single digit gp
in death costs
back in my day if you wanted to go to varrock you had to brave the dark wizards gauntlet
Ah yes
fond memories of when osrs came out on mobile and high level players bought the ring of coins
which made you look like a big pile of money
and stood next to the dark wizards
many new players fell that day
I feel like some sort of alien anthropologist
yes hello excuse me, what is the social function of this "chapel"
Kek
dude you know what i just noticed about the fort
the light refracts off the water in the well onto the rope
and the well itself
That's been a thing for water for some time hasn't it?
It has but it looks really really beautiful every time
I do like sitting at menaphos VIP area and looking at the reflections on the water
Father Aereck:
Welcome back to the church of holy Saradomin, my friend! What can I do for you today?
Who's Saradomin?
Father Aereck:
Surely you have heard of our god, Saradomin? He who created the forces of goodness and purity in this world? I cannot believe your ignorance! This is the god with more followers than any other...at least in this part of the world. He defeated the evil Zamorak in the battle of Lumbridge nearby, and he defends us from evil!
Oh, sorry, I'm not from this world.
Father Aereck:
... That's...strange. I thought things not from this world were all, you know, slime and tentacles.
I am! Do you like my disguise?
Father Aereck:
Argh! Avaunt, foul creature from another dimension! Avaunt! Begone in the name of Saradomin!
Player:
Okay, okay, I was only joking!
Or were we….the player is a Chthonian demon theory deepens.
new fort, new fit, who dis?
I'll get that outfit
For now I'm yak tracking, but there is a good chance I'll buy task skips eventually
But not yet.
It looks real nice
with the right cape also
Same with the robes
both outfit, if added cape, can be real Dutchy like.
Very Duke-y, Much Stylin' 😎
If we do not form a glorious army of dudes in that outfit we have failed
Then you must track the yak
I have completed 24 tasks thus far
I have done 14, I believe
25 here
I'll need to catch up to you
Well my whole day is stacked with work and meetings so it won’t be hard for you.
I see, I see
Then I'll need to ensure Avernic doesn't gain a big lead over me
Which will probably happen
its not a race ;-;
It is now
Winner, Who isn’t Darth, gets bragging rights and a burned piece of meat.
I can't pass up a prize like that
What did I do
What didn't you do?
You’re too good at Yak it wouldn’t be fair.
Wait, it isn't fair for me to compete against Avernic, considering he gave me information earlier to help me complete my tasks more quickly
Or one task, at least
i lied
i logged in to check
im at task 18
but for real, i am quite impressed with the armor set
probably my favorite set in the game
yeah i think i'll use it when i get it
although i'm gonna be skill and killing a lot of these tasks ngl
.
,
Indeed
That's my way of pinging you after the fact
The last two lines before it were directed at you
i like the shoulder capes as well
although i still wish they were overrides and not just physical items
Same
I think on average this track is a little lower for me on the armor
But I absolutely love the pets
And am a fan of the weapons
The book override especially
I see
Yes I agree
The art team in general for RS is fantastic
We're lucky to have them
The pets are great
I wish there was an option to override our old pet cats with these cats
I did not like the pictures of the cat
But ingame with the animations it's fantastic
She'll offer us a shiny new cosmetic to betray King Roald.
Thank you
that might work, sadly.
My services are for hire.
What do stone spirits do
everything
stone spirits double the ore you recieve.
just finished task 27
agreed
i'm still at like 15 or so but i'm just letting most of my tasks get skill and killed while i pvm
I love when they randomly do a woodcutting or divination one
Complicately unrelated skills
One of the slowest paired with one of the fastest
If they were all divination there could be 100 tasks for all I care
Especially with the relic
Dwarves axe doesn't help with woodcutting unfortunately
Does with mining
I'm still doing task 27
It's slow going
Any pearls of wisdom to share?
Skip summoning
27 was an arch task
Yes
i have a couple hundred unrestored artifacts in the bank
those take me a minute
I usually just grind away at the staff locations
how does dwarven army axe work for mining tasks?
same difference
Isn't it just a normal axe? Or do you mean the TH one
Wait, do you mean this: https://runescape.wiki/w/Dwarven_chainaxe?
A dwarven chainaxe is an item obtained from dwarven toolboxes, which were available on Treasure Hunter from 17 April 2015 to 20 April 2015. Inactive versions of the chainaxe are available after 13 July 2016.
It can be used in Resource mode to gain double the amount of logs cut with no experience gained, or it can be used in XP mode to double the...
Okay, that makes sense. I was thinking the other dwarven axe
Chainsaw
Tbf if he's in priff isn't he already a serial killer
What tier is that?
IT'S THE GUY FROM FORTNITE
it's John Wick Fortnite
31
So close
Avernic wins
I am actually on that task myself
Mostly done, too
But I forced myself to take a break to avoid burnout
I could have beaten him
I mean in the end Avernic won, he completed the task, the burned meat is his.
You could see if you could convince avernic to do double or nothing yeah
58 gets you the robes
We can even let Darth participate in this one.
Very well
However, I have an inkling that I may reach my limit before this point and end up buying task skips
Avernic has to agree to it though otherwise it’s not a competition
I mean you’ll take them when I get off work and critical roll starts :p
That…feels like it’s just a flex on Kitty
🙂
still need task 70 for the cape.
As the officially appointed judge of this contest, I deem that we are now on a point system. The first point to goes to avernic but 2 points remain, the second outfit at 58 and the final reward at 70. Winner is whoever gets the most points sound good?
That would mean Avernic already needs just 1 more point to win, Kitty and Darth can still catch up.
Very well, though I must state again there is a good chance I will drop out before 58 and just buy task skips
Premier pass obtained, and now I at last have the knight gear and shield. Hopefully this will motivate me to continue
Dress to impress
Indeed
I'm at task 20 now. You guys are going too fast
ill take 100m to slow down
Don't worry, I think I might throw in the towel
Now that I have the knight armor my motivation has decreased significantly
I'll do a combination of task skips and relaxed skilling before March 20
I'm completely guessing here but will the new building be a guard outpost or something?
I mean, guessing is the only thing any of us can do right now
Ironically enough to go 4 more
My guess is something along the lines of barracks / armory
Having not eaten all day, I ordered a footlong sandwich from Subway and found myself unable to finish it
It may be that twelve inches of sandwich is too much for most mortals
This is entirely off topic but I felt the need to share this
I'm reading too much into the cosmetics lol
I heard someone in here say (mind you, I don't know the source) that apparently Jagex didn't want to use the knight armor for fort guards because it looks too knightly
i think that a barracks is likely.....
I mean there will be a murder at Glielinors own TexMex restaurant
I'm going to flex on Duke Horacio; all he has is part-time volunteer farmers
The victim died because the food was too spicy
Maybe a jail lol
What would that do for us?
Something to hold our murderer
Or a morgue
Somewhere to store our victim
For now
A morgue could tie in to necromancy
I assume the necromancy building will come with necromancy
For a fort to defend Misthalin from the Zamorakians it has a distinct lack of any ability to do that
Our true job of course is to be attacked instead of Varrock
Pub imo is unlikely
With jolly boar so close
irrelevant
thats 2 days journey by scale theory
Not really
2 months journey
In the novels the Salve River is one day from Varrock
Also just a general lack of utility
Though idk what reward space is really missing
I'd say a bonfire
Maybe a mess hall type thing
The Zamorakians will be intimidated by our walls and assume we must have soldiers inside, because who would build a fort on the border of the Wilderness without soldiers?
It's a psychological tactic
Maybe we will contact the dwarves for multicanons down the road
but how fast were the unicorns galloping?
more like morale is 1/3 of the way to ensure your crew don't just make off with your boat.
Slow-paced journey; they even stopped for dinner at the estate of Lord Ruthven
The area east of Varrock has a number of small noble fiefs
Our fort is actually perfectly placed
Now we are the northernmost of these little holdings
This is the funny part
“I want you to build a fort to defend Misthalin”
“Okay defend it with what army”
“Idk make one”
“Roald, what?”

"alright then"
"NOT LIKE THAT"
He gets no room to complain, his "reward" is doing the manual labor of building my own fort for the specific puprose of acting as a sacrificial lamb to draw attention away from Varrock. I will not miss him if he is the one murdered...
You guys are cruel, hot damn
I have succumbed
Questions about my new unlocked cosmetics (which all look fantastic)
- Why is the spear called that when it's clearly a lance? We have at least one lance ingame, so it's not like the term is unheard of in RS
- What on Guthix's green Gielinor is a "chakram"
They can't just make up words
Chakram isn't made up
They're real weapons and we have crystal ones in game already
Oh right
I do vaguely remember the crystal one being a thing now that you mention it
Thrown circular blades
If rs went that route they'd probably be melee range hybrid
Like Greg's weapons
Finishing up my thought, not saying his weapons are out of place
I can see why the Forinthry royal knight set wouldn't be a good fit for random guards
It feels like something a nobleman would wear into battle
a chakram as a misthalin thing is a bit weird
Robin Take 2, now with golden cane
You know, it occurred to me
There's room now for some interesting character moments with Ellamaria
We can like, bond
Over the struggles of being of common background
And now being elevated to such positions
Where we are no doubt mercilessly judged by our new "peers"
Chakram is the indian version of a Shuriken.
Ninja stars?
Ellamaria strikes me less as woman of the people and more disdain for the place she came from
Not that she couldn't become a more sympathetic character
But I like her as the more ruthless side of Roald personally
We can now discuss with Roald about how nuts his wife his and how terrifying she can be
An entire quest where the nobility cower in mutual fear of Roalds wife
I really don't think we should completely rule out Roald dying
He's not my first guess
But I think Roald or Horacio are very good narrative choices
He needs to sign the papers to make me a duke first
Hmm, it worked more like a kunai (throwing knife) but looks more like a shuriken (i.e. spinning blade). While mostly used as a throwing weapon, Chakrams (and the smaller version, Chakri) could be used to fight hand-to-hand as well.
Plus if it's Horacio we can get a necromancy quest and make Horacio a funeral cake
Support
No dialogue because we can't risk her hearing us
I really doubt that as part of the fort stuff is going back to old familiar faces, killing them off would hurt that (plus drag the story away from the fort and towards lumby/varrock)
I think to me it's more that they're both notable while also not being particularly key to anything unresolved
While also creating some semi interesting succession stories for the future
Like if Roald does Ellamaria taking over I think has some very interesting potential
Obviously if Horacio dies it goes to Meg and Lumbridge becomes Megtown
Meg is Horacio's long lost daughter
We weren't told how Duchess Oriana died, were we?
Maybe she died in childbirth
Just being key characters for existing storylines makes them excluded since the fort storyline is something you can do first, it makes having to replace those characters (or explain why they're randomly alive) a pain
More likely are the unknown rulers of some towns, probably ones scaltheory'd away even
The edge lord or whoever took over from count draynor are likelier choices for relating to ingame places
The baronet of Fort Blibberwock, a fort consisting of one house and a wooden barricade guarding the strategically important north Lumbridge cowfield
on the other hand it would make it feel a bit cheap if it was just some random guy
Yeah
aka a Certified Brother Samwell Moment
Maybe the thief's wife's dad
V's death was cheap
Isn't one of the thieves parents nobility?
yeah
Yes
the blonde one
Noble ran away with the thief breaking into her family's vault
If their parent dies and they became a noble that'd be potentially interesting
Rather than enter an arranged marriage with a very boring nobleman
Who apparently dresses like the old RS2 default appearance
Hmm, indeed
It would put a bit of a damper on the whole thievery thing
Maybe someone from Family Crest
Ah, the Fitzharmons
it could be the guy who gives you chaos gauntlents since theyre beyond dead content now
🙂
The new yak track armor has our crest on it
Notable enough to go "oh yeah that guy" but not feel and about it
That's fixable
Or ignorable
Maybe Roald tried to push him off on us
I really hope the knight outfit is the one they give us an umbral version of
This man is technically not wrong
@lusty crow u skipped!
I did indeed
I succumbed to temptation
But I always said it was going to happen
Twas inevitable
17 days to qwest
I look forward to it
I think I can get away with going to 68 and stopping
I do want the pet outfit there
But I can just buy the shoulder cape
Yeah, that was my plan
I just bought the cape off the GE on Day 1
Before the prices rose
y would you stop 2 from the end
Because
There's no more unique cosmetics and pets
Only a tradable cape
I guess there's yak coins
thats 3 coins off of the golden detonate animation
more often than i switch my outfit
I used my Yakcoins to get all the pets, plus Hearty Rest from a previous yak track
Fight the Fatigue seemed conceptually tempting (is it supposed to be a sleeping bag?), but it looked like it might clip badly
Yeah 68 is the last cosmetic
well tbf if you like
I usually use skips on the last 4 or so tasks anyway
train any skill in the next 2 months you'll get that stuff + a bunch more yak coins
100????
Although the XP side of both are not bad
All our murder mystery quests go that way though, like both lord sinclair and || not || sister anna only exist to be the dead bodies to start their quests
theyre 0
575k hunter and 450k construction for 69/70
60
I am an infamous xp waster
o
I'll use my coins from the track for the 4 pet outfits
Then I'll buy the shoulder capes off the GE
Ability overide doesn't interest me
One thing they could do for me to improve the repeatable tasks is to have it be S&K or a randomly generated other task
I just don't enjoy S&K
Actually, this asshole could be the one murdered, since I don't think he is in any quest despite being a noble
what if
ehh ive sorta suggested it before
but itll be clutterbuck or anette's father that is killed
and we have to prove that it wasnt annette or caelyn
He's a courtier from Ardougne
And after he learns who you are he's quite excited to meet you and becomes very pleasant
He's only dismissive before he learns that you are a famous adventurer
A spear is a lance
Isn't that the other way around?
So he only cares if we're famous? Still worthy of being offed
No, he says how he's traveled a little and has heard so much about our heroics
And how it's a pleasure to meet us
It doesn't feel like it's a fame thing
More genuine appreciation
Outside of him looking outdated being as a member of roalds court I think he'd be included at a function
But if we were some random peasant he'd still act like a dick?
Either or. This isn't an "all squares are rectangles" statement, this is a case of potato/potahto. (Who says potahto anyway??)
Well, he'd not talk to us, apparently
So I guess kind of
Hmm, but they have separate pages on Wikipedia
A lance is a spear designed to be used by a mounted warrior or cavalry soldier (lancer). In ancient and medieval warfare, it evolved into the leading weapon in cavalry charges, and was unsuited for throwing or for repeated thrusting, unlike similar weapons of the javelin and pike family typically used by infantry.
A javelin is a light spear designed primarily to be thrown, historically as a ranged weapon, but today predominantly for sport.
Are you expecting heartstealer to be a req?
A pike is a very long thrusting spear formerly used in European warfare from the Late Middle Ages[1] and most of the early modern period, and were wielded by foot soldiers deployed in pike square formation, until it was largely replaced by bayonet-equipped muskets.
no
Then they're probably not involved
i dont see the correlation
We'd have no reason to trust them without that quest
#doubt
This should be the solution to the murder: https://youtu.be/XfdJGrGfA_Y
they trust us before that quest
Yeah because that quest wasn't part of a fresh start
Well yeah there are different kinds of spear. The one from this yak track looks like it's inspired by a tournament lance, used for jousting. In real life you probably wouldn't see anything quite like that on an actual battlefield, they were designed to shatter and explode on impact. They were very much form over function since they were being used for a very showy sort of event
This quest is the equivalent of missing presumed death so we're gonna get everyone introduced again
Trindine will be disappointed that we didn't champion the cause of Zaros?
Of azzanadra*
I plan to use my skips for the repeatable tasks at the end
I feel like I probably did a bad thing wasting my money on so many skips
look at my glorious star
Denn is the only debate you can win really the one where you call the demon a demon?
shit im at the point where the minimum ore for mining tasks is banite
that's still easy and afk
and usually sub 1 hour
afk in the jatizo boots 4 mine with the guy who one-click notes ore, or use porters with your juju + stone spirits, easy
still not as fast as orikalchite >.>
21% more health, but also less chance of wasted damage
and the noting guy is pretty sweet to save porters
not having 5k porters banked
okay so
CHALLENGES
do we think that the update Sponge is working on that involves Fort Guards is CHALLENGES
what even are CHALLENGES
Wot
CHALLENGES
I guess that's next on the list?
Maybe they're tied to the mystery building the quest gives
I've expanded my guess to barracks / armory / mess hall type thing
Though you could do most of what I'd considered mess hall in barracks
Idk
that would be kinda boring
3 more free keys seems weird
i honestly have a feeling that challenges is just a generic word they put in there
to cover for something that wasnt really finished in development yet
I do hope though one of the buildings brings content with it vs improving access to existing content
the CHALLENGES of building the fort
THE CHALLENGE of finding rocks
The CHALLENGES of turning to bricks and walls!
Yeah challenges seems super generic
I'm shooting in the dark here, but an apothecary
reasoning:
it's coming with a murder mystery quest
the murderer will probably be poisoned by something and they'll call in an apothecary to identify the potion
and he'll huff and puff about needing a shop
I would like a druid here in the fort so an apothecary works
We get the Varrock apothecary and he gives everyone hair loss potion
Inb4 it’s Sister Anna dressed as a Ripper Demon who is dressed as Duke Horacio
Sister Anna is dead
or is she?
Maybe the flights of Icyene really did carry her away
Is it confirmed fort guards are a thing
Yeah in like April
I bet it'll be two uninteractible npcs in the corner using this model
Examine Guard: "Guards the fort."
Terrible Take: The Guards are actually bodyguards for one of the nobles attending our dinner party: Once we solve the murder and everyone is allowed to leave, the guards leave along with their employer.
yooo the pets on this trak can perform emotes
So
I have armor and robes
Both befitting a duke
Which do I want to make my regular Fashionscape as I go around the lands of Gielinor?
I could either go the route of
- Robes are standard, and the armor only comes out for battle
- Armor is standard, and the robes only come out when at home in the fort or at some noble function (like a banquet)
Any opinions?
Is the armour the FF armour? That's for guards, you're meant to be a Duke.
I don't think it's actually meant for the guards
This is second-hand hearsay, but someone in here said that apparently Jagex didn't want to give it to the fort guards because it's too knightly?
And it's after I obtained it that I realized it's kind of fancy
Feels like something a nobleman would wear into battle
I kind of prefer a mixture of the 2 in my fashionscape, something like this, for example:
So it's mostly cloth-based for running around and skilling, but then it's got a bit of sturdy armor for protection up-top if I want to do combat, as well.
Oh, I was actually asking about the yak track sets specifically
I had made my own duke outfit before the yak track came out
But I've replaced it now
For the current Yak Track, I would mix-match like this:
I like that a lot
The first one*
Don't dislike that one either
I was playing around with some legs for the top
2 on the bottom right I think I prefer
Hmm
The Zamorak anima core legs are surprisingly versatile
It’s great how well these go together
Well, some of them
I’m slightly surprised the Fort colour is red
It’s not an issue, like at all
Just given the enemies are Zamorakian I thought they might’ve used a dif colour
Honestly the issue with most imo is color
I'm just so impressed that the waists line up
Yeah
The best helmet for it is crunchy’s helmet unfortunately they never fixed the horrifying facial glitches in the text boxes that occur while wearing it.
Demon hunter stuff like the quiver and gloves go really nicely with it to.
There’s an unused Icyene reskin of that helm iirc
Demon hunter matches a lot of stuff well
The helmet at least
They still haven't updated the GE /vault npc
I hope they use demon Hunter partly as a base to rework hide armour
Ehhh it’s not scaly enough I think
Yeah I'd agree it's not hide enough
I'm excited to see what remastered god/gilded armor looks like
I’m not but only because I’m salty that it won over the neizot helm and crystal bow.
Those polls remind me how annoying the rs community can be, like I still don't get the anger over the new nezzy helm when it barely changed, like so many items were completely changed and yet the one looking mostly the same is the one people complain about...
The player base is a mystifying thing
These pets from the Yak Trak are so cute
If you buy the upgrade for 4 runecoins does it give you the base pet?
I assume it wouldn't?
I bought the upgrade for the cat I already took
just the upgrade. still got to unlock the base
No idea, but but I am excite for who it could be.
Do people really not think its roald?
Roald was my first thought
But he's also wearing our sigil / knight armor
And also who else would be wearing a crown
Anlaf or any of the other kings in game
yeah him wearing armour with our sigil is weird
but maybe thats a mistake with the art
if he had that armour with like
yellow cloth with the varrock crossed swords
itd be fine
Yeah
Honestly even if he has our crest it's not the end of the world
Just visually confusing
Maybe it’s just a stand in for us?
Do Dux wear crowns?
Dukes?
In the United Kingdom, a peer wears the coronet on one occasion only: for a royal coronation, when it is worn along with coronation robes, equally standardised as a luxurious uniform.
In the peerages of the United Kingdom, the design of a coronet shows the rank of its owner, as in German, French and various other heraldic traditions. Dukes were the first individuals authorised to wear coronets. Marquesses acquired coronets in the 15th century, earls in the 16th and viscounts and barons in the 17th.
Very lower left of image, there's 2 patches of blue on the red part of the sleeve - that's the dragon crest from Fort.
this?????
discord is blocking other angles of the sleeve for being explicit
thanks discord
Yeah, iirc that's where the crest on the new outfit is.
Maybe it’s Rolad wearing our sigil as like…solidarity? Like the king wears our sigil as sign of recognizing the legitimacy of the duchy?
Wait for this to just be promotional art and Roald isn't even updated for the quest
100% this
we could always just.....
@white girder
Tbh I think it’s most likely that this is just a stand in for us.
But it’s fun to imagine Roald get an update
And would have such a handsome bulb of a nose
That too
It feels like it might be proxy art for us?
i think ur all insane
It seems likely to me
Why?
But you do agree that even if it is meant to be him, it's not an indication he'll actually be updated, right?
Maybe avernic said we’re crazy cause I expressed a desire to just reach in and honk that nose. A desire to grab a big nose has been a thing I’ve dealt with since I was a kid, my father had one of the most massive noses in the world just begging to be honked. As a young boy I’d sometimes climb onto the bed with him in the weekend and wake him up to make me breakfast by honking his nose, it became a running joke.
yes
Maybe it's a player stand in, or a fort forinthry usurper.
its 100000000% roald
well
its 1000000000% not the player
its 100000000% roald and maybe like 5% its just some unknown guy
It makes way more sense to be Roald yeah
Though that guy looksn much younger than I imagine Roald to be
How old do you imagine Roald to be?
Wouldn't they have to revamp roald entirely though?
As of which year?
🤷♂️
Whatever age he has a little bit more grey hair
this is more or less speculation
Yeah this feels right
I want to say 34 as of 169
He just should be greying 😂
Is it time for them to introduce a prince to Varrock?
Between BOL/EGWD / His Wife
Not necessarily
that would've probably come up
His father was actually King Roald II
And the census doesn't clarify which Roald it means
oh yeah true
Roald doesn’t have any heirs right now right?
the closest known heir is a canoe guy who is roalds fourth cousin once removed
Plot twist Roald is the murder victim and his next in line cousin is the top suspect.
presumably somebody is slightly closer
My opinion is that as of 169, Roald was 34 and Ellamaria 21
I have come to this hypothesis after thought and conjecture derived from interpretation of sources
I have no proof of this
But it's not wholly arbitrary
scrolls up
fails to spot the question
Is the question "Is King Roald updated in the Murder on the Border quest?"
No. Character artists were occupied with other parallel projects during this project's development. We're swapping in a newer outfit for Roald's incarnation in the quest, but his body remains consistent. (And as noted elsewhere, he had a bit of a touch up in River of Blood.)
Roald definitely hasn't been updated to look like that promotional art ingame. (Was a bit uncertain whether it was meant to be King Roald when it came from Creative Services, to be honest - they had a lot of detail to fill in, I guess.)
So it is meant to be Roald?
I believe so.
A new outfit is something, at least
But only during the quest? Not his version in the palace?
Correct. We're not doing graphical updates elsewhere with this quest.
I see; that's a slight shame, but good to know
yeah question was "is that roald?" because i was saying it was roald and other people were like no thats not roald
Can you share with us if any graphical updates are planned for this storyline? Not what they are or when just yes or no?
no
Kay
that's "no we can't share" not "no definitely none are happening"
that's what you WOULD say if nothing was happening
I figured as much, your no’s tend to have a kind of…shut down feeling aura to them, stern maybe is the word. That’s not an insult or anything btw, I understand just you never know unless you ask.
yeah np, it was partly for stu's benefit
So it originally was meant to be roald, but is now changed to be a stand-in for us?
@night stag
@sleek oracle
losing the Bilrach placemat feels like a net loss for me
Also we should have this king contrasted with the Burger King
Wait
Am I missing something
Where is our sigil?
I don’t see it
I don’t see the king dude wearing it
You know thinking about it that artwork almost ALMOST make Mod Jack's "the armor was to fancy for guards" seem right, ALMOST but not quite.
Oh
to be honest in that rendition the fur looks a lot nicer
looks like its fur from the hands of an adorable otter or something rather than the travel worn raggedy polar bear lining the armour in game
50 tasks done
woah woah
i didnt realize after task 50 every other task gives a coin
this is great!
i think by the time you get 70 you'll get enough yak coins to get another shoulder cape
its 21 coins 1-70
Crusader Kings 3's next DLC was revealed today
Reading the blog post
And
Grand Tours see you assemble your entire court and set out to visit vassals in your realm - an activity commonly undertaken by medieval rulers. This is a way to assert your overlordship, while also enjoying the hospitality your vassals have to offer. There are various paths to take: Intimidation, Majesty, or Taxation, all affecting the rewards and opinions of your vassals. At its core, Tours are a tool for realm stability - and something a newly-ascended ruler should undertake quite early to avoid factions and revolts. You also get to choose between ways of approaching your vassals individually; you might want to tour the grounds, observe a cultural festival, or simply have a private dinner hosted for you.
I can't believe Paradox ripped off of Jagex, smh
As some of you managed to cleverly figure out, there’s also a brand-new regency system where we’ve made sure that it’s both interesting to have and to be a regent. Loyal regents help you by dutifully fulfilling their Mandates, and being the regent of your liege gives you opportunities to (with varying degrees of bloodshed) seize the throne for yourself, should you be doing a “good” job.
👀
I'm loving all the fur lined stuff in the yak track btw.
Cosmetically the last few tracks have really hit what I like
I just want it to be over tbh. I'm pretty mentally done with it.
👀
i hit 31 yesterday for the cool outfit so i'm just gonna let skill and kill do the rest while i do my normal stuff
hey we're on the same task!
Considering putting one of my banite ore div things from daily spins to work and seeing if that'll make it go any faster.
I think my fav tasks are divination and mining
Mining I just buy half the task worth of stone spirits then hop over to banite
I'm just happy to have an excuse to use them
divine ore rocks use too much daily value to be useful
I never do the daily div skilling loc thing.
Clues are fun, because I tend to keep doing clues for a bit after the task as well
Instead of dropping what I'm doing to move onto the next.
you could also do most of the steps of a clue then stop and wait for a task to finish it
Eh, I guess? But the fortunate comps are too nice to pass up on getting asap.
I just do that kind of stuff for tasks that are S&K tier
like if I'm not doing a task I do things that can prep for later
like the digging portion of arch, or recharging my pitch can for FM tasks later
Reminds me I pulled all my skilling dummies out their boxes for the slayer task at 61 and now I'm just filled with regret looking at the agility and thieving tasks coming up.
I absentmindedly clicked take out all
I guess I'm going back to pyramid plunder to hope for a sceptre of the gods/priff elves to hope for the last clan symbol I need for that amulet.
crux eqal knights
semi afk, 800k xp/hr
Okay, wow, that div rock was really not worth it.
Didn't use up any stone spirits, and only got about 7 ores out of it before it died.
Woodcutting tasks are my least favorite.
Couple hours in the uncharted isles no biggie
ones that support yew can be powered through AFK in the elven resource dungeon with a divine spot
otherwise it's bamboo time
Yeah they're really badly balanced, the time you spend making and using it is better used just regularly mining
it's kind of hard to tell which blueprints I've already made
quest means new building lets go
I forgot
