1 Reduce the respawn time
The current 5-minute respawn timer is far too long. Excessively long respawn windows coupled with insufficient spawn counts have drastically diminished the fun of piloting the helicopter—this includes both the enjoyment of ground attacks and aerial combat. What’s more, this setup disrupts game balance: once a team loses its helicopter, the opposing side will gain unchallenged air superiority for a full 5 minutes with no effective counterplay available. A viable solution would be to adjust the number of Little Bird helicopters based on map size, with a maximum cap of two helicopters per side.
2 Reduce the damage dealt by RPGs to the Little Bird helicopter
Being one-shotted by a single RPG or tank shell is wildly overpowered (IMBA). A better approach would be to set a direct RPG hit to deal 95% of the helicopter’s total health. This way, a fully intact helicopter won’t be destroyed instantly, requiring only a small amount of follow-up fire to finish it off, while any helicopter that’s already taken partial damage can still be taken down with a single RPG strike.
3 Reduce damage to the pilot
It makes sense that a well-placed sniper headshot can kill the pilot instantly, but it’s highly unreasonable for rifles to take down the pilot with just a few shots—after all, the pilot is protected behind a windshield.
The suggestions above will not disrupt game balance in any way, but they will significantly improve the gameplay experience for helicopter pilots. I sincerely hope the development team will consider implementing them.
