#Operation Overhaul Audio

Make the voice lines soldiers automatically say optional
i couldnt test the audio because of memory leaks
also i didnt know there were lines, were thinking it was guys talking to me
my only complaint about audio is not being able to boost VoIP audio, idk if that's a "we didn't implement it just yet" or something, but if I make it so regular audio isn't too loud, I absolutely cannot hear anyone on voip
voip seems too soft at a short distance. Audio is much better however. Whatever you guys did, this is the right direction
I guess I'm the only one with audio issues. No low end at all. Sounds like everything is in a can.
explosions are so loud the blast wave is coming out on my headset in comparison to everything else
I’d say the audio is so much better, it’s night and day compared to before. But there is still something weird about the audio in general that I can't point out, well probably that some sounds are too loud or flat/2d compared to others and it create a weird unbalance.
The audio doesn't sound bad! I like the changes
voice lines feel like ai slop
The voice lines doooo feel a bit out of place
I have a hard time hearing people too. Weird that it can't be boosted a bit more.
Agreed, I dont know if you thought they were too quiet too, because I personally was trying to listen to understand them jsut to be like "oh that wasnt important" hahhaa
They really dont add much to the experience yeah.
Add more sliders for personal mixing the audio.
Audio is amazing, although I wasn't able to pinpoint enemy location from footsteps. I could clearly tell where shots were coming from.
audio improved a lot but don't like the typical white male soldier voicelines , could use more soul and diversity but i am just saying it's better than the silence
I'm pretty sure that the Audio might be responsible for a portion of whatever memory leak we're all suffering from.
Especially as the frames hit single digits and all you can hear are disembodied echoes of gunshots.
couldnt hear ANY footsteps from enemies
Solider voice lines feel unnecessary/repetitive and are confusing when trying to communicate in voice chat with the actual players. Feels like auditory clutter
oki go play planetside2.
before it dies
take some inspiration from how squads/platoons/leadership for either of the factions communicated via voice
Audio seemed muffled all the time.
I don't mean it like you're underwater or anything.
All of them just sounded dampened or something.
Gunfire, footsteps.. any sounds that did not originate from MY character were all super muffled.
We don't want voice acting. Thats one of the main draws of BBR. The players communicating, thats whats fun. If my character is saying shit, why should I bother saying anything?
Footsteps sounds the same on all terrain? Would love if we had gravel-sounding footsepts for gravel, softer and crunchy footsteps on grass, etc. In honesty, the footsteps sounded like gunshots so I got confused a couple of times.
I like the audio design overall, main issue I had was just the voice lines
Voice lines were completely unnecessary, audio sounded muffled 24/7, guns just sounded meh, the old audio for guns was better.
When an objective was contested the audio sounded like you were capturing and making progress pretty sure its a bug but
new sound for snipers is good tho
What should be the priority in the game?

Could not test audio because the servers where so extreamly laggy i got constant distortions and sounds playing on repete stacked on top of each other. Had to turn sound of completely in on match due to how terrible it sounded.
If you fix the servers for the next playtest then we can test the sound.
Agree. I feel like they dont really fit into the game
I think he means that you can put a filter on your voice or something?
Oh I see
I haven’t played arc raiders
I don’t think it would fit though
Yea, it misses the mark too imo
The sound of killing sucks, and it is so silent for some reason. And the sound of being shot is.. awful? I can't say why tho..
I almost was not be able to hear footsteps around.
And I can't be sure about giving feedback of new audio, since the memory leak was the thing, it may ruined a lot of sounds in the game as well.
I had good audio for a while, shots / step were easy to tell where they came from unlike what we have now
Explosions sounded beautiful, my god i need more of that
Weapons sound good
i believe we should have more control of the sound. especially when theres new audio features in the game, giving us the option to toggle them on or off would be nice.
- more settings = better, more options can overwhelm new users i think adding an option to toggle detailed and simple settings would be nice
- i didnt like the end game music and the new voice lines (some do), there should be volume adjustment for the voice lines.
The voicelines just need to be removed
Because they provide an unfair advantage to players if you turn them off
And they sound terrible
i see your point. battlebit imo is an arcade game, not like bf6 immersive level fps game so...
- teammates SHOULD hear voicelines not enemies. this should elimate unfair advantage to the enemies.
but i also think it can be beneficial: - those with partial vision can use voicelines instead of relying on visual cues
- it did help me during those chaotic moments where i was focused on one thing
They sound beautiful
thats just wrong tho
the first part
bf6 is way more arcade than battlebit
way more
they just sound bad
back when bbr was popular everyone used voice chat and you didnt need silly voicelines
Voicelines are giving info that players wouldn't
Something like reloading, healing
And it adds immersion to the game
Its not like the replacement of the VOIP, but QOL feature instead so everyone will hear useful information no matter which teammates you have
And they sound good imo
They sound robotic
And it clashes with voip so if you do have a people using voip it sounds out of place
Also there’s no Russian vo
No they're not
Maybe memory leak was also affecting those, since I liked them a lot, they were not robotic or something, maybe more repetitive instead
Their volume should be reduced when somebody close to you speaks in VOIP, yes
Memory leak doesn’t affect voice acting 💀
Idk, I dont care about it
It’s not immersive
It was affecting sound bro
And voicelines are sounds
Buddy
I don’t mean robotic as in the memory leak
I mean robotic as in the actor delivered the lines in a robotic way
Memory leak can’t affect that
Not possible
Why don’t you care that the Russian team sounds American
You wouldnt understand it probably, so whats the point of benefits it gives if you cant understand it
Bro
I don’t mean speaking Russian
I just want the Russian team to sound Russian
Accent
Also if you play a game for a while you just start to understand what they are saying… so it would help. I know what the Chinese soldiers say in bf4 and I’ve not learned a single bit of Chinese
Still I dont know, they sounds fine for me. I was repeating those voicelines irl because of how cool they were
They were not that cool
Ah, got it. Yeah would be cool
They sounded like a bad imitation of the bf3 voicelines
Idk I didnt hear those
You never played bf3???
Imo they were. I liked them a lot. Its a strange conversation since theyre coolnes is up to everyone's taste
No, as much as other bf besides 6. I was playing compaings
So the only bf multiplayer you’ve played is 6?
I just think they sound very fake
Not very well made
I liked them a lot
Pros of voicelines in BBR:
- They help people that dont have mics to provide/get information they otherwise mightve not gotten (wanting transport, needs repairs/ i can repair, resupplying, reviving etc.)
- To an extent, they also provide immersion and if you are close to the enemy and they are careless, you can hear a distict faction voice, which reveals their location (did lead to funny moments)
Cons: - Bad voice acting is not very immersive. BBR voice acting is mediocre and sometimes sounds very off.
- With how seemingly frequent they were, it does take away from the VOIP.
The best middleground here is to get better voice acting, for both teams that sound generally distinct.
The soldier voice lines should not be automated, they should be triggered by the player only via the scroll wheel/ping system/whatever button depending on the context.
If we are shooting for absolutely zero voicelines, make a better, more comprehensive ping system
Forgot to add, as I mentioned somewhere previously, I would like a commander of sorts, thru the radio, to occasionally notify the team of whats happening to the objectives and potential vehicle warnings, maybe even warnings for unique levolutions and so on (vehicle warnings like in BF4 there are voicelines that go "X vehicle north/south/west/east from your position" etc.)
Commander seems like one instance where voice acting would fit far more, as it doesnt come from any player, gives some useful information and probably doesnt need too much effort to pull off

I just want the old kills sound im addicted to it ._.
Why only English voice lines? Could be cool if we had russian ones too, or other languages. To tell who is who.
because theres 2,000 engrish voicelines for friendly and enemy 😭
imagine doing other languages
