I don't know if limiting people to the first floor and rooftops is a good design choice. Many vertical angles made the center objective much more chaotic and fun tbh
it was explained many times, that overhelming amount of angle to check was a one of many reasons why a lot of players abandoned the game shortly after release.
Its super hard to enjoy a game, when you must check 999 windows to avoid instant death.
it make players feels more tired and play game less, aka 1-2 hours session max instead of 2-4 hours sessions like in other games.
Should we expect an update this year or next year?

not possible, but community servers will be able to run a old Sandy Sunset (Current one) if they want to make players feels uncomfortable.
Old Sandy is not uncomfortable, it feels just like home
Except the snipers, those can fuck right off

Love the new architecture, especially the arched tunnels.
Sandy is (in)famously the "long sniper map" where you could get lot of long-distance kills.
While it can be lame, it doesnt really pose a big threat to usual gameplay (like 2000m+ snipers dont kill people fighting in the current city of Sandy). And while a lot of people think it's the dumbest shit ever, I think a lot of people enjoy it (I dont really care for it). I hope it still will have a place, and if not on new Sandy, on other maps (new ones included). I dont think it belongs on every map, but still.. having super long distance sniping in the game is something I think is worth keeping around. Just not from the safe zones!

I believe the riot shield is flat out abandoned, I would absolutely love acknowledgment of any sort on if riot shield is on the list of reworking, or staying unchanged

maybe the new 4x4km free for all map they teased a while ago? Would be useful there, but at this point it seems pretty useless with Sandy getting smaller. 20x should be more than enough for every other map
Yes, usually snipers fight other snipers on sandy, every update is taking away maps used to get +1200m kills
I have said last year that the bullet velocities should be lowered, lol, but who cares about sensible suggestions with sound reasoning, right
Vehicles are another problem, their weapons are too weak or inaccurate in order to stablish control in a objective

The game really needs an improvement in the vehicle physics and armament in order to play well with the maps
But actually infantry gameplay is ok, not incredibly good but overall is average

Ironically I play other game that have an opposite problem, because the map Lyout encourages camping, like 4-6 dudes holding a room with only 1 entrance

Every room should have at least two entrances so a single guy can't lock down an entire path

This is map feedback thread. You can join 100 other people asking the same thing on #battlebit-eng daily, but don't expect to get any answer. Update will be released when it's ready and showing your impatience isn't helpful. They're well aware people are waiting.
As person above you said, recent updates on this channel are unlikely to make it into the overhaul update, as they already wrapped up all the work and are in the testing/bug-fixing phase.

the only thing im worried is that they are nerfing buldings? like no more 5 storage with multiple windows buildings ? maybe i read it wrong. i personally like to go inside buldings with C4 hunting people, running up stairs moving around inside the buildings. correct me please
Objectively speaking from our community, people will often vote it, but then proceed to complain about the safezone camping on our all modes server (and in some cases frontline but that layout is a mess in general for 64 and 127) and it would result in mass AFKing or quitting out.
Domi layout is the only one I’d argue people enjoyed/tolerated because it was only the city part of the map, which I find the issue is less brought up in text/voice chat as a result.
I suspect like isle, it mainly gets voted in because of the amount of tanks/apcs/helis that both teams have, to the point of where there isn’t much downside to losing one. (Which depending on your viewpoint of vehicles can be a good or bad thing.) Also the safezones giving snipers/tanks no real risk of death unless others counter snipe, real easy to see why people dislike the current state of it.
I wouldn’t say it’s “unplayable” but this is often a flaw that just so happens to discourage people from trying to push, either by the “fuck it everyone else is sniping might as well” mentality, or they see none of there teammates pushing, so they figure “why should I PTFO and essentially get punished for it if my team isn’t willing to move due to a constant threat of stuff they can’t even kill due to how safezones work on most modes?” (Often leading to the standstills mentioned here)
For the recond im not against “long range” sniping/firing tank shots from a distance, but having complete immunity to cerain parts of the sandbox whilst being able to do that just leads to a frustrating experience.
On another note though, it really is a shame that vehicles in general aren’t even getting looked into in regards to this patch from what the devcasts hinted towards.

Vehicles next update trust
ay speaking of vehicles, will the new SandySunset be more accommodating to ground vehicles? On the current build of Sandy, whenever I try to drive a humvee or a LAV/BTR anywhere other than the main roads I always end up hitting rocks or trees or just bumpy terrain which stalls out the vehicle or gets it stuck.
just look at current terrain on left, and new on right.
Old Terrain was supper step and hilly with was uncomfortable to drive on

Some of the questions have already been answered
They had previously stated for example that we aint getting an ETA until they are sure they wont miss the deadline like in april
As as we speak, QA and bugfixing is currently being done
QA has been for about a month or so, and bugtesting from a couple of weeks
They are just working on boring shit for the update, so other than stuff for the updates after the overhaul, there aint much to say

Sandy frontline layout looks interesting, want to see if it'll play out the same (prolly will but a lil less chaotic, tho I liked that all was in one spot on frontline).

and we still waiting on year long update what’s your point
at this point you will need to market the "update" as a re-release of the game if you hope to get any of the playerbase back. Honestly, I don't even know if much of the old playerbase would even come back and keep playing beyond the first week. YOu guys may very well have to rely on brand new people coming in with the release of the update (an update which at this point is a genuine reworking of a large portion of game itself).

But oki was on vacation for like 2 weeks or something, so QA couldnt have begun before that

The biggest problem is the lack of communication. I know they said their is not much to show, but they can still say something like "we are progressing smoothly" or "we hit a roadblock" and also provide a bit more detail into aspects of the update. Just anything besides utter silence about the update itself, and only news on stuff coming to updates after it, which could be 2026 before we see these maps and gun model revamps
I agree, an update taking a significant amount of time is fine if it’s making it polished but the utterly lack of communication and updates is absurd. As if the update wasn’t taking long enough, they got rid of their dev casts. There needs to be some sort of communication here.
So glad the community isnt scared to speak up. No communication is insane after such a long delay and cancelling devcasts
map reworks are nice and all but the fact that there hasn't been an update on steam since March gives the impression that the game is dead
I thought the game was indeeed not being worked on. I’m happy to see it is being worked on still and I so hope an update at least brings it up a few hundred or thousand players. Communicate and advertise when the update comes out!

I think it's great how you're making progress, and personally I'm happy to wait for it, but you shouldn't just post your progress on discord, people who aren't on discord will think that you've completely given up on the game and aren't working on it anymore...

Sandy is notorious for snipers and vehicles abusing the safe zone, as well as this one bug or exploit that long range snipers use on that map
bro, there is no exploit on this map for snipers to use
There is a visual LOD bug on sandy that allows notably long range snipers to see enemies behind hills
And besides that, safezone abuse still exists
Tanks and snipers camp in it, you cant approach them to blow them up because the safezone doesnt allow you to shoot them
Only way to deal with snipers is to be a sniper yourself
And you cant even really deal with tanks because they can just fuck off right to base before you dish out any substantial damage
Even if you disregard both the LOD bug and safezone bullshittery, the map kinda sucks
Takes ages to get go objectives, with very sparce cover in between them as well, vehicles cannot offroad on sandy at all and the map is 80% dead useless space

I always found it silly that you can’t shoot while in their safe zone. People are already risking dying by the timer.
You can in frontline (generally) and invasion in specific cases
Otherwise yeah its basically complete immunity to certain tactics
I would really love evidence of this bug. I've seen multiple people claim 1S1K uses "terrain bugs" and other cheats but we never have issues killing each other from any area on the map
