Add a new game mode where everyone on each team only gets one life (with current revive system ofc). Maybe when your team has less than 50 people, your locations are revealed on the map to prevent camping / hiding. Could also add 1-2 capture points where if all are held, your team wins / loses (to encourage closeness / quick matches). Thoughts?
#New Gamemode: "One Life Only"

that honestly sounds stupid. thats just cod S&D but larger. worse even because everyone is on the map at once.
it is made even worse considering the intelligence of the average battlebit player
they would hold space, think they can respawn, rage quit
just not enabled on any map
Wouldn’t work for bbr, especially not on the larger sizes
People see they can’t play, leave and requeue. Lobby dies. It would be a mode that trolls pick to kill servers and nothing more.
And further more, this could also potentially kill entire regions (mainly whats left, NA and EU) because of that one server pulling people who are joining, seeing they can’t play, and leaving to either try a different queue in QM or to play another game.
that ONE server...
you know what I meant
battlebit could take initiative to organize regular games with this mode once a week/month
cuz i like search and destroy
Yeah, it would be like Search and Destroy. I'd hope the games wouldn't take more than 15-20 minutes apiece. But sigh I get it. People don't have attention span's anymore. I could see all the issues described above.
On a side note, I wish the devs catered more towards the people that made it popular in the first place. In my case, and probs many others, that is a casual but semi-realistic game that isn't 2024 COD where you pro-game and get kills by running around.
Maybe I'm out of touch or being selfish, but I hate some of the brain rot I see online.
nah the majority of people did agree, again that is one of the main reasons people left. then the "tech" of shift+W and spin become very popular and then that just made it worse.
Very fair, though it's still a sizeable minority. I've made some recommendations before that I think would greatly restore / define the identity of the game. These included:
- Stamina bar for sprint (so can't infinite run)
- Use squad points to spawn on your squad (limits spawning behind enemy lines)
- Limited loadouts for classes (no C4 for medics, etc.)
- (And yes, I agree that the "tech" is just stupid and takes away from the gameplay)
Agree or disagree, I think most of us prefer the game as something more cerebral / tactical than COD or other popular FPS. If I wanted to play a run-around shoot-em, there's so many other options available.
From a business standpoint, I think Oki would greatly benefit from focusing on a game that's excellent for his base, rather than watering it down with the "little bit for everyone" approach.
Let's be honest. 90%+ of the people who are going to play BBIT have already bought the game. The best move for the team is fixing some of the core issues to keep the core player base strong / active, then releasing a big DLC or BBIT II to sell to happy / repeat customers.
honestly I think limiting explosives would be enough, and less active squad spawning because squads are 8 people instead of 4.
the other stuff I think is a bit drastic for how long the game has been out
I'll take any change that moves us closer to the "spirit of the game." Are you in-line with me on that view?
yeah, here's hoping Oki gets that message
One life only could work pretty well with this game!
You could make it a 16v16 and 32v32 exclusive mode. Let there be an objective to defend as one team attacks and the other defends, or put a hill in the center that when capped wins the game once the other team's tickets are drained (dying won't drain tickets).
Saying this mode wouldn't work because BBR players have the IQ of a kiwi is defo "pot calling the kettle black" imo. We're all kind of dumb, but I know I would enjoy this mode on a smaller scale for sure.
It would be SUPER fun on a 127 server though too, so I think they should at least give that option for funzies for custom servers.
Also have multiple rounds so it doesn't end in 10 seconds like elimination
Like it or not it’s just how it is, people won’t stay in the respawn screen for it
Maybe? In 8v8/16v16 modes I could see it happening, but that would also require oki to support these modes again.
Which… I sadly don’t see happening as of right now.
As for the other things (mainly c4 and stamina) since both were discussed in suggestions in the past:
Stamina bar was hated by both milsim and arcade sides, one side felt it was a cop out limiter that didn’t actually “solve the problem” and the other just didn’t want the squad ICO stuff to happen here.
And medic is currently seen as the worst class in the game by many people, myself included (medkits healing values weren’t updated with the new system) so for any changes there it would need buffs in other places. hint hint nudge nudge oki why does heal on dropped medkits take so long and still only heal for 35 health
I suggested a stamina system a bit ago, i think it could be kind of interesting if done correctly/well
but lord knows that won't happen
I still prefer thr glass cannon/health solution they’re allegedly going for, personally
But that’s just me
I just suggested it because stamina could be a neato way to balance certain things
More of a discussion thing more than a "I would like this thing"\
I forgot you brought it up too ngl
but yeah past discussions just boiled down to “there needs to be a better solution”
One Life mode in game is something that Oki exploring and researching for potential competitive mode i'm guess?
But it will support only 8v8 [Solo/Party] and maybe 16v16 [Party] scenario matchmaking in my personal ideas.
While we still working hard on current update, it's something we may look at next.
But there is no plans for OneLife 254 players gamemode, due it wont be fun and playable. You can just make 30-60 seconds respawn timer to achieve "ONE LIFE EXPERIENCE" on your server, but nobody will play on it because of that.
I would recommend, personally, not even considering making it competitively viable. I think it's more important to just have it be fun first and foremost. Last thing we need is another mode that's a bit undercooked imo.
Maybe the way cash drops in that cash run mode could be incorporated or something? Like maybe you can revive your team by taking their tags back to base like it's freeze tag or something
Might be a good way to encourage more moving around or something
From the moment when your "FUN" by relaying on other players - its a have direct impact on player experience in negative way.
You cannot make 25% of your team make work as a team.
The game must be lonewolf friendly, so after hard work or study, when you back to home, you can just have some fun by yourself and group of your friends in game.
Once in order to get fun/win you must contract and work in synergy with other random teammates - the things begin fall down and cracks.
And it wont just work at 128 team players at all, due level of chaos is very crazy for any cooperation on team level.
I mean if you want it to be that way sure - it's your game lol. I don't think prioritizing making the game mode fun would necessarily mean making it less lonewolf compatible. I think one life modes can actually be pretty rewarding for the lonewolf types in general.
This is just in regards to the mode in general btw, not like for 254's.
All I was saying was to give the option to custom servers to be able to use the mode if they wanted to, but not necessarily design the mode FOR that mode, if that makes sense.
I have 0 clue how you would make a 254 single life mode fun without having the dead players able to do literally anything, or making it a 10 second cluster fuck personally
My ability to revive people idea was just something I wanted to throw out there for the smaller variant. I think a one life mode COULD work for 32vs32 if you perhaps make a capture point that drains tickets over time when capped. I'm not 100% sure how to prevent stalemates though - other than a fast time limit. In my head I'm imagining this mode would have like 7ish minutes per round and be a complete cluster fuck on purpose.
My concern about trying to make it "competitive" is more so that I think it should be designed to be fun and fair first and foremost. I don't think this game will have a comp community anytime soon, and especially not if the mode released isn't a blast.
A search and destroy clone could probably work for the comp mode. Simply make the medkit not infinite and it'd probably be fairly balanced for the most part.
Competitive has a lot of baggage with the word, that's why I'm aprehensive towards using it personally. People view competitive as a sterile, perfectly equal environment a lot of the time - and I don't think that's what BBR is seeking to do (based on playing the game only ofc).
