#PTRD to engineer
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
from the features before rpg is faster projectile flight and longer range, but if you hold it in your hands you move slower, as well as increased scatter and shake in the scope if you are standing or sitting.
14.5MM AT gun. would be fun as hell, one of those gimmick guns that you cant use unless prone or braced on something, but outputting a lot of HP and Light damage for a 4 bullet clip.
actually I got that wrong a PTRD is a 14.5 single shot AT gun, not the clip fed PTRS.
interesting facts I read when reading the wiki-page initially trying to figure out what this post was about.
PTRDs were used as recent of 2014
PTRS-41 rifles are still in use by Donbas militiamen in Ukraine, during the Russo-Ukrainian War, due to their ability to penetrate APC armor; The ammunition used is actual World War II vintage.
I feel like people are just gonna use it as a one shot sniper
over a dmr?
just give it irons and at most a 2x and that would limit it enough, especially since it would be a 1 shot only weapon.
since it's an anti vehicle gun it'd only need irons
Give it to recon instead of engi.
Have a limit of like 20 shots with a really high resupply cost.
Have it as an alternative to c4 or claymores on a recon. If it’s on engi it needs to be an alternative to the rpgs
To reduce usage on infantry it should do the same damage as m200. It should not be a ohk on bodies.
why would you give an AT rifle to recon?
make it a heavy gadget, at most you get 6+1 shots with it
Sure I’d be fine with lest shots.
I think a PTRS would be better, 4 round clips + 6 at the most? total of 10 which would make more sense with a direct use weapon with no AOE.
Do +8 so you have 2 additional clips and not some odd amount.
the problem with that
is that a gadget has a set "reserve" amount and 6 is the max
for heavy gadgets anyway, I think light might be 7?
This looks like a nice addition, but hear me out
Think about helicopters, and how easy it would be to destroy them with this
other than the tail rotor, which at best would be a Direct impact since no AOE, this would do jack
especailly if its limited to 10 or less shots only from prone
where you gonna get an angle on a chopper while supported?
That's not a problem:high elevation.
Players are very creative
Depending on damage, it could be obnoxious to BH and deadly to LB, and if you want this to compete with HEAT, it needs a significant damage
high elevation, but you can't aim up, or lean, or have more than 10 ammo.
at that point everything is just as deadly with "high elevation" being a "problem"
I do see aboundance of verticality in this game as a problem, yes
to be annoying but useless?
high elevation hardly means anything.
except making youself a target.
i really dont know why you have not enough rpg projectile speed. you need bigger sniper rifle for engineer that penetrates armor? just take m200 as a sniper. or you want mega rifle that gives you insta kill or something.
also, this is a massive fucking rifle, you will not be able to aim down at all, and only maybe 5 degrees up at best on a slow where you are angled up.
At-rifle =/= sniper
guess he wants to kill the driver or something
its literally just something different.
when we get US/NATO AT, most of them are just gonna be RPG but US/NATO
yes, its gauss gun that penetrates and does almost no damage for the armor
am from country who designed ptrd
cool, means nothing.
14.5 mm gun like standalone cord today
and in ww2 it was double-personed standalone heavy tube where one person reloads, second person fires
oops dshk
also 12.7
nope
12.7x108
its use is modern, so why not. limited ammo as a gadget would mean limited use, and as an ALT for RPG
yes but this be video game, where things that are not quite so good/new/easy to use can be fun to use
would it replace RPG as a meta for Engy? likely not
but would be fun to have regardless, especially with the downsides we were thinking of.
no, just dont favor similar weapons added. better to add 3 tubes with different params
like nlaw, carl gustav and single-use rocket
you do realise that other similar shit is already going to be added right?
NLAW guided missle though? fat chance
for me that 4 is different. one is less weight, second is could be reloaded with teamplay, and third one uses guided missiles
big sniper rifle that just a big sniper rifle for me like a mistake
old damn javalin too
yeah sure, guided missles. totally gonna happen
single use rockets? totally going to happen
if rockets were secondary, maybe, but as a gadget with reserve ammo that would just be stupid
weight on gadgets is also not currently a thing
in heroes and generals AT rockets is well balanced as - you personally can take heavy ATGM at the control point in the crate
nobody is going to use something that requires teamplay in this game
hearoes and generals? you mean that game that became pay to win and killed its playerbase basically overnight?
totally a good example of good balancing and weapon additions.
yes that game that present some ideas then failed
there was same problem with HE spam from rpg and every guy with RPG disabled tanks at all, same as in BB
there was alot more problems than just that
and they decide - you cannot spawn with rpg. you have to take one on the main base
must have been new to it.
which did nothing, because that was the most used spawn anyway lol
you really must have joined really late in its life
btw HH has tonns of tanks in each game, and less players. and the problem with rpg was a primary. there's every random guy could kill the tank if he wants
that was more because of their shitty armor system
and deciding to use an HP system for tanks
and deciding that the AT items did a fuckton of HP damage.
which armor did nothign to fix, despite many games having fixed that
and they never changed the actual problem
so it never dissappeared.
strange. i remember that you could hit tank from one missile or three, depends on the point of your hit
where's the hp in that idea - you could imagine
tanks in HG had HP
that's why they died so quickly, because nothing was directional
or locational
you penned the lower front plate? dead tank. despite that really only being for transmissions, and not ammo/fuel/crew.
it sucked, and never got fixed
if you say so. my thought about the armor is directional, and limitation of rpg shells, that solves in first rpg spam vs infantry and second - gives tanks more ttl. wanna extra effective weapon vs tanks - get control point and take ONE and now you have ONE chance. You could success. COULD.
anyway, having alternates things that could be more fun to use is really a problem with you? if you want to be a meta hugger RPG ain't going anywhere.
Assuming devs implement it properly. I can totally see it working just like every other sniper
