You would have to define mid-range. After 50m, SMG drop off pretty hard except for ump. Cqc for SMG is risk and reward. Someone can beam someone with an AR or snipe and be safe.
If anything, sure put armor on arms and legs. But Its not an SMG issue to get jumped.
I would say somewhere from 100-200m distance
UMP becomes airsoft bb after 70m. The rest are poor damage by 50m.
