honestly just scale the opacity and/or duration of the bullet trail along the length of its path, going from 0% to 100% over the span of 100 meters. sniper rifles are loud enough now that just seeing the trail for a brief moment should be enough information to figure out almost exactly where they are at close range without needing to actually turn and visually follow the trail

might just need to make it a tad shorter, though I do like it since it just takes me back to CE Lan games with the SRS.
