To me they feel very similar. Mostly because of the dashing. Ultrakill feels extremely eternal inspired.

That’s not what I mean. Both games have glory kills based on where you aim when you press the glory kill button but 2016 had glory kills that depended on where you were in the map. Also eternal is lacking many glory kills. Mostly midair ones, I find myself often smashing a revenants face into the nonexistent ground despite being quite a far ways up in the air.

It really is not. For one, their approach to combat is pretty different.

1. For starters, Ultrakill is much more fast paced than Eternal, has cracked movement and the only real limit your arsenal has are cooldowns and certain enemies being less vunerable to them. Meanwhile in Eternal, Doomguy is slower and you are required to manage your resources at pretty much all times. Not only that, a lot of enemies require an actual method to defeat properly.
2. I am aware of what you mean by contextual glory kills. But there are a lot more in Eternal depending on where you are looking compared to 2016. Sure there you cant kick a demon off a cliff now, but it isnt a dealbreaker.

Chainsaw in eternal is not a weapon, it is a tool for a specific purpose, so it makes sense that you cant rev or that it doesnt have some fancy shmancy animation or anything
There is a reason areas arent claustrophobic - Doomguy literally needs space to manouver around the enemy attacks somehow. You cant just give your character movement options only to put him half of the time in claustrophobic areas where he cant use them.
The ammo pickups being "glowy shit" complaint is pretty silly considering that 2016s pickups from the chainsaw was also "glowy shit", but in the most generic ammo color ive ever seen.

and i'm not complaining that eternal is a different game, i just have some issues with it that aren't because it is a different game. there is no reason for cacodemons to be pushovers that die in literally one hit in eternal, after the first level. the claustrophobic thing is more a design issue, how eternal will take an area that would make more sense to be smaller and blow it up, which looks ugly. if you want a big space, make it make sense in the world.

also i'm not sure if its just me but it seems like dropped ammo and health like from the chainsaw or flamethrower seems like it despawns in a way too short amount of time, where i miss most of it if it falls down somewhere that takes a second to fall to. in 2016 it stayed for a bit longer it feels.
