I was playing Minecraft testing out Modpacks and a friend wanted to play together so I rented a server. its been a few months and I made lots of building progress in the world but my friend has stopped playing so I wanted to load up my server world file in a single player version but when I do so it loads up at the point i made it into a server.

So I'm losing like MONTHS of progress for some reason and I've tried uninstalling the Modpack in CF and reinstalling so that all world data was gone and it was a fresh boot up, but even after downloading a back up of the current server files, when i copied over the files and launched the game to open up the world it plops me back where i was months ago still.

I'm at a bit of a loss because I've spent hours building in this file and don't want to lose them.

Are you making a fresh zip from the world folder?

The zip file that you uploaded a few months ago doesn't automatically get updated with changes.

#

It's like a snapshot in time.

yeah i downloaded a back up from the server and deleted everything off my local world files and reinstalled the modpack on CF so i assumed that all player data was gone too

#

then i uploaded the back file to my saves

zenith hearth
#

yes and i deleted all local data, because it was a single player world before. i did download the servers file that has my current player data and extracted that to my local files but even after that it still loaded back to the point i made the single player word into a server losing all server progress

Then that still sounds like downloading the old file that was uploaded and not the current world.

the last couple of files I've exported have been given to me from the support technician, who has insisted (and I've seen) that the file does indeed update on the servers file page. but even if it didn't wouldnt making a back up of the current world, as if im planning to restore my world later to that point, give me a file that would have the current world files/player data

#

its all so confusing:/

deft shard
#

Are you maybe grabbing the old download from the Downloads folder?

zenith hearth
#

I don't think so, I've been doing troubleshooting for the last two hrs so each one is timestamped later and later but I've also been delete each one after failed attempts as to keep things tidy. I figure there just something I'm missing from the interaction of CF and my native Minecraft files or lingering player data somewhere that i can't see

You're putting the entire world folder in the CF saves folder?

zenith hearth
#

I'm pretty sure, everything that i downloaded from the server thats in the file

deft shard
#

That... That may or may not be right.

#

Just the world folder goes in the saves folder.

#

If you're putting everything in there, that might be the issue, since the actual world data is in a folder in a folder.

zenith hearth
#

sorry i meant everything in the world file

#

all this stuff but condense in one file

deft shard
#

And support made the zip for you?

And it's the right world with buildings and everything, but from when you uploaded with none of the changes since?

And the world is still right when you connect to the server?

zenith hearth
#

yeah we've done a few different files from the server but yeah after putting it into my local files its just reverts back to the point of server creation.

#

i go back to the server and everything is fine there right where i left off

deft shard
#

And the folder you're compressing and downloading is the one with the same name as the Level Name setting?

zenith hearth
#

yeah and following the guide on how to export i change the file name after downloading and then put it into the save files.

#

one of the intresting things is that even after changing the name the wolrd list still retains the prior name somehow but shows the new name lower

#

it some how still has data on the prior save even after deleting the instance of the modpack im using and redownloading it from CF

yes

deft shard
#

What's inside the world folder when you unzip it?

zenith hearth
deft shard
#

And that is in a single folder inside of saves, not a folder-in-a-folder or directly in saves?

zenith hearth
#

yes
