This would definitely be something to shoot a ticket to our tech team on! They could restart the node that you're connecting with and/or ask for an MTR Report to check the network connection to see if it's anything within our power to assist with!

How to provide an MTR:
- Download the following MTR software: https://bisecthosting.com/clients/downloads/WinMTR.exe
- Where it says 'Host' type in your server's IP (without the port)
- Click the 'Start' button
- Wait for the very first number under the 'Sent' column to reach at least 500
- Click Stop
- Click the 'Copy Text to Clipboard' button and paste the results into a Pastebin (http://pastebin.com/) and provide us with the link.

This morning (time in france) i downloaded a backup at around 40mo/sec, but starting at 5/6pm in france till late at night it breaks and gives 100 to 300ko
Also just a quick question: what did you mean by downloading an update from the server? :) Users shouldn't need to download anything from the server files, If mod files are being updated it would be much faster to just replace those on the local files
Other admins, and i also use automodpack for minecraft which downloads my own RP from the server

the server has a 1Go connection
Currently my issue is that i try to download a backup from the server and i have 300ko/sec downloading the archive
I can figure out other ways to make my players download datas
if the pack is publishjed on curseforge or modrinth, updating it is easy and painless via the swap jar menu
ok, so you are downloading the backup whic is quite huge likely, likely it contains the world. are you downloading it as a zip?

Yeah even making a private collection on a mod launcher to share with your friends using a code to share updates with them would be 1000x faster than downloading the full backup of all the server files everything single time

one way to get top speed all the time is to use a host that you can ssh into, and download to there. i suspect you're grabbing the backup for extra safeguarding. BH I believe allows you to have 6 backups in reserve

it was indeed very difficult to make them understand my issue and get a link for my actua latest backup (it took 3 links on their side to finally understand that they where not giving me the latest backup of the server while i was raising the issue that it wasnt the good one (just have to open the log files...)

(for the story i asked them for a link to download the backup because i explained the dl issue and thought that if they pull the backup and give me another link to download it maybe it would be better, which was not)
I'm sure that as soon Santa starts his shift, he'll see this and get on to further investigating, he's gonna ask for that ticket number should could provide it if you like, not a link just the number.

in reality, there's a node issue going on.
not with the server but with internet in the data center around the rack.
Yeah but since the backup is 70go, the download preparation was really slow (took about 1h hour between when i click download backup, and when the dl actually starts)
so with mtr reports, the first 2 hops is you and your router, and the last 2 hops is the router for the blade and then the blade itself.
all other loss data inbetween doesn't matter.
If the REAL Santa take the case i guess i have nothing to worry about haha

so with an mtr report, if either of 2 hops on either end show loss, that shows where the issue is. your mtr report shows you and your isp are not at issue and puts the ball in BH's court, because it's happening on their end.
ie the last 2 hops.
so in the future, if you can remember, i often forget, and I'm a 59 year old nerd, do an mtr report to see if there an end point issue with internet.
I'm sure the ticke staff will be like "oh poop, my bad, i see what to look for now"
Kind of the same, they both have great powers. Anyway i sent the report to them and am waiting for an answer, thanks again for the quick and precise answer in despite of my angriness (which im sorry about, im losing my head since yesterday trying to fix an issue and downloading my backup)
they probably didn't evne pursue if you were insisitng on a valid external link to your most recent backup, so they are trying to figure that one out instead.

Ok apparently it's my fault
(it fixed nothing, my download is still fine for any other download but apparently its on my end....

that's so odd. tell them you want the next level of support. and they'll tell you that support works on a different schedule so the wait could be longer. just tell them you've waited this long. We need systems level. I can't believe support is acting like that. the mtr showed nothing wrong with your side. @strong basin

people on their side tells that download is fine, other people around me can download it, but on my end, can't and that's the only file i can't dl, this morning it was fine, there's no issue on my end i don't understand

Hi friends, instead of pinging a bunch of random staff guessing whether they're on or not, I'll ask for some clarification behind the scenes, one moment :)
can I ping you or message you when I think we need to pull a bh staff that watches the discord?
this is odd as heck that the staff is not acknowledging the issues around his node despite the mtr showing he's not at fault.
Even staff that watches the discord only does so when they have time, they also work tickets. Myself, other mods, or them are active enough to catch most of these cases where we can ask about through one of our channels without a bunch of pings

but most of the time i try to download everything separately
are you downloading via the web browser or using an ftp program like winscp or filezilla?
i tested both especially to show there's no issues

i use filezilla myself, being a linux user mainly because I can tell it to use 10 threads to get my zips.

Checking that MTR, it looks more likely the link your ISP is getting to our DC with has the issue ~ Rather than it being the server on our end, or your end. A VPN would get around that as it would force you onto a different route/link

Would make sense, yeah - the issue here isnt your end or ours, its the ISP <-> Datacenter
I'll mention it internally for our admins to holler at the DC and see whats what ~ But this is just good ol' routing being hit or miss. Many apologies for any confusion caused on that front; I'll ensure our leads give this a review so the staff in the ticket get some updated info on how to handle these 🙂
