I recently have purchased a server from bisect and tried to host a modpack called chroma technology 2 but my friend and I are unable to log in as it keeps showing the servers are down (which they clearly aren't as i changed to a different modpack and it worked fine) any idea's as to what i can do to get it to work?

The authentication servers are a Mojang thing, its normally an area or 2 now and then go down. you might just have to wait on this

As already mentioned the auth servers are hosted by mojang. They verify your account is legit. The error just means they couldnāt connect to verify your account for some reason
You can try closing your game, then logging out on the launcher and logging back in. And restart the server
