#Nonstop phonecalls.

I registered a domain alongside my server subscription and now I get 10+ phone calls a day from India trying to build a damn website for me or make a logo.

I've asked nicely, I've asked them to stop calling, I've yelled at a couple and made terroristic threats because I figured ONE of these would work.

How do I get them to stop calling?

I can't just block them if they keep spoofing random numbers. If this doesnt stop in the next couple days I will cancel my subscription and dispute the charges on my card.

I'll see what they can do, thanks.

Theyre affiliated enough for one transaction to give me a server AND nonstop spam calls, so hopefully something can be done about it.

I just mean they can't tell companies to stop calling you as they aren't the ones that instructed them to in the first place.

Just to clarify too- When you register a domain, your info is attached to it- Address, phone number, name. Its a legal requirement for owning a domain. This is true for anyone you purchase a domain through.

There should have been an option to get WHOIS Protection added when you purchased it. This puts the registrars info on it instead of yours.

If theres a registry of domains that theyre pulling from, then I concede that Bisect has nothing to do with the calls, but I didnt see any protections when registering the domain either.

^ without that protection, registering a domain with your own personal info is just open to the public.

#

so people like the ones spam calling you will immediately swoop that up to try and promote their services

Ive owned this domain before and only just renwed it with bisect because it was convenient, this is the first time i had this problem

Its an addon once you add things to the cart (i grabbed this off registering a new domain but i assume with an already existing domain it looks similar)

The previous registrar might have built it into the cost of it or ate the fee to support the protection.

The option to OPT into ID Protection was on the Domain config page during checkout.

Check in with the support staff, I'm not sure if this is something they can addon after the fact.

Huh.

I'm the type to read everything, but this doesnt even look familiar.

Well, thanks for explaining what happened. Either I can get it fixed... or I have a year long subscription to free theraputic screaming matches all day 🥲

I personally have an app that detects/block spam calls, that might be helpful! (and i generally don't pick up random numbers unless im expecting a phone call, or call them back if they leave a voicemail that sounds like something i actually need to call back for LOL)

My voicemail box is always full because of scammers, and appatently people hate my local courthouse enough that its flagged as spam now too, but I need to answer when they call lmao

Not worth the time and energy. I had a dot-US domain over 12 years ago. It was hell because those do NOT offer whois protection whatsoever.
