quick q, were there many ATMs in the festival area last year? I never had to use one since I had just about enough on the wristband and some extra Lek in cash so never actively searched for one

And the exchange rates are not brilliant, plus they have a flat charge too, often cited as high as 8 Euros! I would avoid them, take some cash and exchange at the Airport. Use your card to recharge the wristband as needed.

honestly the shuttle experience was more like "we start driving when it's worth it" which was fine imo, obviously hard to track but you also don't wanna have shuttles on the way for like 2 people, so better wait until it fills up

although on the way to the festival grounds in the evenings they were completely overfilled at times, was moreso on the way back that it took a while for them to start driving 😆

Hii so excited for my first explorations !! curious to know what are items you wish you packed but didn’t on your first explorations? I’m figuring out what I should pack and don’t wanna miss anything 🙂 anything from clothes, shoes, etc. sunscreen and a packable towel are on the top of my list!!

Have something warm for the night stuff just in case, personally tend to get cold quickly so better be safe than sorry, although ended up not needing it but you never know

I made the mistake of packing beach shoes that had a "cupped" sole. It basically scooped up rocks for you to step on inside your shoe at gijpe beach

FLAT soles are the secret for open-toed shoes at the beach

Bring slippers/sandals or take off your shoes before getting on the boat if you do Gjipe, i soaked my sneakers because they let us off the boat way too far back and still in the sea so I lost that fight trying to make it to the shore dry 🤣

As you jump in and out of the boats on Gjipe beach you will likely take off and land within the waters edge, so waterproof ones are a good option here

More T- shirts or similar, they get hot and sweaty quickly in the heat, even at night, you can rinse them in a sink and put them on the balcony and they will dry easily. And yes a hoodie is good for very early morning hours but I doubt you will really need it unless its relatively cool or you feel the lower temp

The visas are processed online by e-Albania, this is controlled by the Albanian State. It cannot really be sped up sadly, I have found this out myself when I applied to stay last year. Fortunately being a UK resident I can travel here without a visa for a short period (up to 30 days) beyond that I needed to start a residency application to stay longer.

Albania has really good internet tbh and its not expensive either. Not sure if Dhermi has 5G yet but it is certainly planned. Fixed lines are upto 1Gb up and down which costs about 30 Euros a month (Wifi6 router included). You will see the wifi codes available at bars and restaurants all over too. City centres have full fibre 10Gb download available too at 70Euros a month.

If you are in a remote beach then the coverage may not be super, but, you might pick up Corfu when roaming.

One of my eSIM’s that I have fully works in all EU countries, but not outside.
As we have quite good internet in my country, I have something to compare with 😅
It’s like I have a good patience in life, except slow computer’s and internet 🤣😅

If you are going to be really data hungry, ie over 40Gb, then you could use an esim from your own provider, and get a physical one at the airport or port. 1Albanina (internet provider) has an unlimited 1 month data for 3200 LEK ~32 Euros called One Tourist TeraPower. You can then add on for 5Euros 40 minutes of International calls if you wanted. And if you think you would need to make calls to Albanian numbers or send texts then the weekly Package is also 5 Euros.

So it could be a cheaper option perhaps?

Put the costs in perspective. What would you budget for a 'big' Club night out, or, a large festival back 'home' or nearby. Then look at Explorations, a Festival within a main Tourist area, even given these increases, I think it is still a great value event per day however you cost it.

Yeah an electric cab from Tirana is only 100 euros or so last year and they charged a lot more thru booking

This time I’m just gonna walk out of the airport and barter with cabbies

And then get his number for the return trip

In theory it should be cheaper this year with the new tunnel that cuts off a whole mountain pass from Tirana to dhermi

It’s only 3 hour drive this year instead of 4
