Does anybody know how the taxi transfer from Tirana work? The site has little detail on that option compared to the ferry or bus transfers. I booked a taxi since there are 3 of us. I've only been one year where I did Corfu and my experience with that was quite the shitshow. Sailings that day were delayed because of stormy weather which caused a chain of subsequent delays. All the while more and more people were arriving for their ferries, which caused a massive line and a ton of confusion. Some people just started getting onto ferries regardless if it was their scheduled one or not. All that plus needing to go through passport control between Greece and Albania.

Standard ferries are also PAINFULLY slow btw.

That year they didn't have a bus option from Tirana though. I heard the bus from Tirana is better, though the bus can still break down midway.

FWIW I'm doing the Tirana bus this year, and very much looking forward to it after my ferry experience.

Also for the ferries, even after all those delays and time wasted, you still have to take on a fairly long bus ride into Dhermi, which adds to the pain lol

made the choice by looking at flights tbh, tirana would have taken me anywhere between 4-11 hrs with a layover while corfu is a 3-hr direct flight from where i'm coming from. plus the fact we will arrive a day early and I get to see a new place, even if it's kind of only for a few hours and one night

I’m also flying from Eindhoven even though I live like 10min from Schiphol. How is there no convenient flight from such a big European hub 😅

Curfu route is fine, it'll probably be chaos because there's going to be a planes worth of people trying to get through 2 passport control people at the ferry terminal. 2022 was a nightmare and we were left queueing around the edge of the port building in the sun for hours, but they were giving out bottled water

2023 was better, was better organised but the bottleneck was still the 2 passport control booths

You can do that, but the transfers go to Himare further up the coast. Travel by bus from Tirana to Saranda was 17 euros, so we flew in that way. Far cheaper than Corfu route. I agree it is!

At least in 2022 every restaurant was pretty much the same menu. Pasta, pizza, seafood, salads from what I can remember.

They were quite surprised to find we wanted no meat, fish, cheese or dairy etc, but were able to come up with a Greek Salad without cheese, a mixed salad, pasta & tomato and a veg risotto @hardy skiff @sleek rover Also menu from last year too. 100LEK = 1 Euro (more or less)

Also really easy to find as it is literally just below the drop off point when you arrive

piratet19 was the wifi code last year, I doubt it has changed!

I would say that be wary of the grilled veg at some places as this is a standard accompaniment to most grilled meat dishes and is done on the same grill as the meat. Also, fries can suffer from the same issue, the ones on Gjipe had been in the same oil as the fish!

We also found some soya milk at a local market and took it back to the hotel (Hotel Orange Drymades) for them to keep in the fridge which we could use for breakfast. I think the newer ones may have this covered though. Also find the smoothie stall (it was next to the merch stand last year just above the Cove) these were really good too.

Luciano's was where we all met first night, but, the food while good was small and the service was not great plus the waiters all thought they were entitled to a tip. The big pizza place overlooking the cove was great however, good service, good sized pizza and had a veg option. I would shop around and see what you like the look of personally.

I'm vegan and went last year. There are options, but mostly vegetables - grilled or otherwise. Delicious but not great for energy! I stayed at a hotel with a kitchen and that saved me - I brought some of my own food and bought a few things at grocery stores there. French fries were a godsend! I'll be back this year.

Yes, nuts are okay, just no animal products. But I found what I needed in Dhermi was high-energy foods - carbohydrates and protein. The options for those are there, but pretty limited. I can't walk and dance for 12+ hours a day eating salads and grilled vegetables!

The small Garden Hotel is opposite, Best Western is on the corner, Vila Zeus and Hotel by NOSHI are close by about 500m walk. Stayed at all 4 I liked NOSHI best and the Garden Hotel. And you cannot hear the aircraft at all at any of them. All are fairly similar costs, check on Booking or similar sites for reviews etc.

For any first timers debating about a shuttle if it looks like you're relatively close to the festival site, keep in mind that the hills in dhermi are steep. A kilometre on straight ground vs a 40 degree angle at 7am in the morning are two different beasts 🤣

Also check where the pickup points are, your stay maybe outside the area, but only just beyond the nearest pickup point as you will need to walk that far anyway. Last year's VIP tables were a really poor decision. They were located so that views of Splendor /Empire from the bar balconies were blocked to anyone not buying a table. I often prefer to stand in those places than be down in the thick of it and plenty of other people feel the same way. Really hope they're not brought back
