Fresh Install?: Yes
Operating System: Windows 11 Pro

Summary: Nav consoles on multiple ships are blank, with only a steel-colored background. This includes purchased ships and custom-built ships.

Included Files: Console log when attempting to use nav console.

What I've tried:

  • Fresh install
  • Mod removal (using mod button in the files options in game to ensure I had the right file path)
  • Trying other ships
  • Building new ships
  • Multiple new saves

Note: The only personal modification I've made is changing the "RandomShipBrokerSpecialOffer" line's aCOs in loot.json to reference my custom ship, allowing me to purchase it after selling the starting ship.

ah did you make a custom ship in the ship editor? it might be missing nav mods if so

also old ships made in 0.14 or before wont have nav mods or a layout

I thin kyou can jsut spawn in the nav mods on your nav console in the ship editor by putting a lootspawner above the nav console and giving it this loot: ItmNavStationModsAll

Should only be neccessary for old ships brought forward i think

I got the same issue recently. I looted a console, installed it and blam - no parts. Some old ships need updates.
Cant remember from what ship I got console from sadly.

For looted consoles or ones purchased from the Scrap kiosk, this makes sense to me. The modules are fairly fragile. For ones purchased from a shop or in brand-new purchased ships, this is 100% a bug.

Yeah, so to be clear this is happening in NEW ships post-update. Like I mentioned above, I did a clean install, tried to use the nav console, failed, sold my ship and bought a custom one, couldn't use it either, so I bought yet another and it was the same problem.

I'm open to the possibility I'm doing something wrong here, I'm just not sure what it would logically be at this point.

I stopped playing after trying for so long. I'll come back in a year or so and maybe it will have resolved with a future update.
