I've seen that from time to time. It doesn't appear to hurt anything. I guess it's like a gas canister being slightly overpressured, but not by enough to make it go boom.
yeah as far as my physics go thats not how batteries work but I agree its not harmful
It's misreporting it's charge due to wear. As batteries wear down their capacity drops (you'll see this most clearly when restoring ship batteries, the current charge will 'drop' as the capacity increases. I believe the capacity drops, but the charge-ability doesn't. Just going to link previous report for ease of finding:
