Any mon you want to hunt needs to be within 50 meters of you. Sometimes you have to move to get within range, but a lot of mons are within 50 meters of wild zone warp points.

You only hear the sound within less than 50 meters of distance, don't know exactly what distance.

I'm clearly avoiding conflict to try and get that "perfect survivor" tag or whatever its called, and this one person kept chasing me around targeting me.

Genuinely kind of impossible.

The only way I could see Mega Chimecho getting any use would be having a busted ability. I was going to say "Maybe something about making sound-based status moves more effective," but Chimecho doesn't even learn many of those either

That's exactly the problem though. Chimecho is a special attacker and the only 2 special steel type moves that are worth ever using are Flash Cannon and Steel Beam

And even then, Flash Cannon is an 80 base power move and Steel Beam always erases half of your HP away.

Theoretically, they could give it Doom Desire, but that would just make it a worse Jirachi

I really think Mega Chimecho is just straight up doomed for failure. It should have gotten an evolution instead, but now that it has a mega, it can't get one unless they make a regional variant.

I think the only megas with base forms below 480 that have seen success are either ones that have an overpowered ability (like mawile) or min-max to get much higher than +100 in its relevant stats (beedrill)

could still be nice in games where items don't exist like GO for what it's worth but then again both psychic and steel are irrelevant there since Metagross and (soon) Mewtwo both own monopolies on their respective types
