If anything, PLA just shows that modern Dex entries are 100% not accurate, because we already have all this fucking info

We aren't actually learning new stuff about the Pokémon like Oak suggested

It's just a kid's diary toy that lets us record stuff if anything

Because it was. Gen IV incorporated a bunch of the unrealised ideas from previous generations (Shellos and Gastrodon, scrapped Gen II evolutions and Canalave being almost identical to a beta from Gen II), so it felt like the culmination of everything that came before. Meanwhile, Gen V switched from Japanese-based regions to a different country, had an entirely new batch of Pokémon, and very much felt like a clean slate. 😅

Honestly a lot of people see Sun and Moon comp as the most enjoyable for the sheer amount of different stuff present in it. I believe megas (granted possibly in need of a bit of fine-tuning) were so incredibly enjoyable even being poorly executed with pseudo-legendaries and stuff, so if they'd really taken the time and effort to do them right instead of scrapping them, megas could have been one of the most exciting long-running things about Pokémon

Look no further than how excited people get about regionals (me included)

It's stupid that Gamefreak would just dump such a good concept and essentially reset the gameplay to a much more mundane time

Especially when some of the Galarian evolutions don't really look like evolutions; Sirfetch'd is a white Farfetch'd with a longer leek and a shield, Mr Rime is Mr Mime with a hat and a second face on its stomach, and Perrserker is just Meowth with horns instead of ears. 😅

Mawile and Audino's Megas are more different than those evolutions, and ones like Sableye or Lopunny wouldn't feel out of place alongside them (perhaps with some slight edits). 🙂

I think they did mega's the way they did from a competitive standpoint, it added a layer of strategie (wich mega to choose, when to use it,...) and it didn't make the pokemon obsolete by making it a prevo. Doing it that way allowed them to make it that gens thing. I don't think they ever planned to make mega's permanent considering gen 7 didn't get any new mega's.

I think this might be true. Character customisation was initially going to be XY's gimmick (hence it not being in ORAS), but everyone was obviously furious about the fact that you can't introduce something like that and immediately say "so this will never happen again". Maybe they locked Megas out to give XY something else to call its own, even though that's stupid because they're in ORAS and Gen VII. 😅
