Sorry about the repost
I noticed the wings were wrong, as they're supposed to be attached all along the arms. But I think it all looks too muddy now that I've changed it, and I'm unsure how to fix it.
I'm also mindful that I only have an hour or so (I think) until the contest ends and I haven't yet submitted it OhGeez

Probably because it is only visible for one character. There are multiple characters you can choose from. Each Age selection is a different character spritechart.

So I know when making a custom sprite you can use a custom base if you give credit. But is it the same if you want to use another custom sprite as base? Or do you need permission to base a custom sprite on another that was done by someone else?

Like, for example, I wanna do a Combusken/Nincada sprite based off the Torchic/Nincada sprite, can I do it and give credit to the person who did that sprite or do I need permission or it just a big no-no in both case?

Hey @untold summit! Sprite packs come out at the beginning of each month! There is no exact date, sometimes it can take up to a week for a all the sprites to be sorted and propped for release. Please go harrass Kiwi if she takes longer than that. :)

The whole point of the smaller game version is that you don't need to manually update your sprites 👍
As long as you have an internet connection it will pull sprites from the most recent monthly sprite pack.
If someone makes a sprite you really want in your game ASAP and you don't want to wait until the end of the month, you can manually put it in the game, at least you can if you're using the larger offline version of the game

I never finished it entirely, it was a Kingler/Spiritomb. The claw had come off and replaced the keystone, and there was a little pool of blood below the arm it came off of. Nothing serious, and it made more sense for it to not have blood I guess, since it's a ghost.

Half-pixels are wrongly-sized pixels, usually created when working with sprites that are resized to a 3x scale.

Since all sprites used in IF are sized up from 96x96, every pixel is technically a block of 3x3 pixels. If you now work in 288x288 or any other size that isn't 96, it is possible to create pixels that are not 3x3 blocks. Having these in a sprite will make them look extremely janky and distorted. Those are half pixels. Avoid these at all costs.

If you resize the body part of a Pokémon to make it fit the base, even if working at 96x96, you will get double-sized pixels or larger. Those also count as half-pixels and should be avoided by polishing/redrawing the lines.

Resizing to a scale that isn't a multiple of the original image's size will also result in half-pixel, e.g., if you start with a 80x80 canvas and resize to 288x288. This can be avoided by making sure you're on a 96x96 canvas, or failing that, always resizing to a number that's exactly 3x your canvas size.

Rule 9: Sprite Feedback. Sprites must be posted in #1050404143807873157 and receive feedback in threads before going into sprite-gallery. Nobody is exempt from this rule, no matter how perfect you perceive your sprites to be. Design suggestions do not need to be acted on, this is more to catch low quality sprites or errors that the spriter may have missed.

As a design exercise, and because I've been hooked onto Pokemon Infinite Fusion, I made a fakemon/fusion for one of the auto generated sprites in the game. It didn't have a custom sprite, so I made a quick design + sprited it! Then I imported it into the game.

Can someone explain to me how the shrinking down of normally drawn images work?
Can I just create a file which is 288x288 pixels big, import the image and scale it down so that it fits?
Because I just tried that and it doesn't looks so heavy pixelated as I thought 🤔

What I think happened, is that you resized in a way that the image got blurred. You need options like nearest neighbour/no interpolation

resizing an image will always need retouching though, you can't just do it and suddenly have pixel art

It Is different when you take a 288x288 image that was drawn in 96X96 and upscaled because each pixel from the og drawing Will be Just upscaled to be 3x3

to resize into something more pixely, you can use a pixel art editor like piskel (just import and resize canvas content), but do keep in mind that a lot of the detail and lines will get lost and it'll need a lot of work to be presentable

To add them to your game, simply copy all the files into your game's CustomBattlers folder. The pack also contains alts and things such as joke sprites and regional variants, which you can also add to your game if you wish.

You can swap between alts of a given fusion in-game, using the Pokédex!
