I think Platinum is probably the better game, but there are some things it does worse than Diamond and Pearl. It is way easier because a lot of trainers got leveled down and the lack of some typings makes the elite 4 really challanging, which I really miss in Platinum.

Goldeen is bland, absolutely. I like Seaking's expression and think it makes it ironically funny. Lumineon is bland but aesthetically pleasing. Both are two-stage evolutions which means they can evolve on your journey. Basculin has no ironic funniness, isn't really aesthetically pleasing and can't evolve. But hey, it has two forms so I guess that makes it better. 😦
