Kinda off topic but my parents asked me about sprite contests and after I explained the judging system to them my dad said “the judges are probably in an inner faction and they’ll only give people they know or are acquainted with high scores and forget about the others, that’s how the world works” like that’s probably true for other situations but I heavily doubt that’s the case for a contest that’s mainly for good fun held for a relatively niche Pokemon fan game 😭

April fools contest 2025.

When there was a new message in #event-announcements I went in to check. With joy on my face I read about a new April Fools contest. You were allowed to break rules which was awesome. 3 entries maximum per person made me happy. Immediatly I got to work and made my first sprite, I spend around an hour crafting the perfect fusion for the contest. Gordo said he doesnt really expect anyone to make a backsprite so at that moment I knew what my second entry was going to be, but "what fusion deserved a backsprite?" was what I was wondering. Then it hit me, krookodile/slaking would be perfect, since all I had to do was give slaking a nice blouse with pineapples and swimming trunks. When it came to my third entry there were 5 minutes left to submit so I submitted my magikarp/slaking since you could submit a sprite made before the contest announcement. The drive got closed and now all we had to do was patiently wait, Gordo let us know that due to stuff in their personal life the polls might be delayed. So we waited, seconds turned into minutes, minutes into hours, hours into days, days into weeks, weeks into months. It has been almost a year since that contest, which makes us wonder: Were we the fools of April all along?
