Seeing into the top of the umbrella changes the perspective on it (unless getting blown inside out also completely broke the alignment on the handle, too)
If the attachment point didn't break/become misaligned, then to see the umbrella at that angle would require the hand to be no further forward than their shoulder. Meaning it would be positioned out to their side instead of in front of them

You shouldn't change anything about the body pose for this - the decision is purely about the umbrella top

I submitted two sprites: one which I spent hours of grueling work on, getting every detail right, shifting elements pixel by pixel to avoid squareness and meticulously shading the entire thing… and one which I made as mergemay filler in 30 mins.
And they score two points away from each other. I honestly don’t know whether I should laugh or cry 😭😭😭

One time I submitted 3 sprites to a contest, one lazy splice, one that is one of my favorite sprites and is my pfp to this day, and one is, ok i guess I didn't really like it

the last one beat the swoobat by quite a few points

Vaporeon gills actually just convergent evolution. Horizontal tail proves it's actually still a mammal

I will admit horizontal tail versus vertical is a rule I have to tell if something is a mammal or fish from a quick glance, however one trait that mammals never have is gills. There's also something to be said about mermaids who are definitely intended to have fish halves but the majority of mermaid depictions have the fish tail orientated like a whale tail because people can naturally bend and move their body in a similar swim motion to a dolphin (up and down) but really can't side to side like a fish, so it just looks more natural that way.
