The first things I check are color count, broken outlines and then shading, then if the fusion is easy to understand, after that it's more unique feedback for each, 25% of the time Antialiasing is used wrong or should be implemented

Maybe I could compile all of the criticism I've given (also for me so I don't forget the same stupid things every time )

pats, always worth trying to do it but its why I rarely rotate things, sometimes I'll just grab parts and shift them about to get slight changes to angles but a drastic angle change is going to need work

you could also see if other generations sprites have the angle you want

If its just generaly coming up with an idea I'd say look at what's been done for each Pokemon before. Check out https://if.daena.me/ and search Jirachi or Aron. Its a database with most sprites released to the game.

Minimum? There’s no minimum. You should always work in 96x96 but then scale up to 288x288 for the final product. So each pixel is a square of 9 pixels.

Sprite collabs can be fun! I've done them with friends for various projects and it usually goes something like I'll do the base and pass it to a friend for detailing or vice versa
