The idea was a Steel/Poison regional called Meltoxic, based off of hazardous meltals, such as Liquid Mercury & Cadmium. The main triangle shape came from the idea of being reminiscent to a hazard symbol.

I had made a controversial decision to lean more into the physics of the head mon rather than the body mon, and i chose to ignore thorns' feedback that it didnt look like the body mon enough

yeah I was not clear on that, I thought the contests were judging on one specific side (feature pokemon head or body), not that people had free reign either way

most of the finalists in roserade were clearly roserade head, and I figured that was how it was

since the colour scheme is what conveys the feature pokemon most, and that requires the head role

Judged contests seem unlikely for a while. They barely figured the logistics of the Roserade contest. That got so popular, it'd take forever for a handful of judges to rate a ton of sprites.

and the bot takes a while to count em

so when you ping for voting, the first 10-15 minutes you can see the voting ratio

and at that level, you have a good general consensus, all the ones that were winning at those times were the final winners, and so on

I remember I made this, though I think it was for fun more than anything. Now, there doesn't appear to be a way to animate sprites in game, now or going forward.

It used to be you had to make the gif at the right speed, then break the gif into a single png with everything spaced correctly. And that voltorb/solosis one I just posted was massive.
