• mystic, ||vaporeon/mismagius||: my insanely powerful sp.atker with a some good spdef beef. honestly MVP for 90% of this run
• angelshark, ||shapredo/rehisram||: honorary legendary. neat sprite, did its job. plus mixed attackers are always fun
• rickety, ||lanturn/mew||: vince's son makes an appearance. i found thunderbolt laying around, tyvm randomizer
• gambit, ||kingler/garchomp||: been wanting to use this for a while due to the terrific sprite. another late addition right before aurora, but it pulled its weight by being a good replacement to my marshtomp/bastiodon
• surfer, ||azumarill/lycanroc||: huge power, hard rock, STAB rock slide. holy shit i loved this thing. GENUINELY suggest using it, and also just look at that sprite it's adorable

alright now that I'm home, starting off the last four runs with mono-dark. As with usual, Debug mode was mainly used to set up the fusions for the randomization and for easing grinding.

The run suffered pretty heavily in the endgame, Silph Giovanni alone taking out 3/6 of my main mons. The bottom 3 all survived pretty well (Ariados is the shiny of the duo there) and the two non-shinies have been with me for pretty much the whole run. Dusknoir/Cacturne was especially clutch thanks to coming fully evolved (cacnea isn't dark typed) with early leech seed, then became a phyiscal wall in the endgame with spiky shield. Hydreigon took as long as you'd expect to evolve but intimidate + poison/dark did fine until then. The top 3 are all E4 ringers, but Sableye/Klinklang gave me a lot more to do in the E4 than my other options, thick club allowed marowak/honchkrow to hit hard, and... well, I just liked that kecleon lol

Ariados/Tyranitar felt fun between sucker punch, payback, swords dance, and later lunge but I'd imagine it'd take a LONG time to get there in a normal run.

• bubble, ||reuniclus/deino||: did literally fucking nothing in the e4 but fire off ONE psychic
• fuzz, ||ampharos/deino||: good for a deino. 122 sp atk magnet stab discharge, yada yada.
• sleeper, ||dialga/deino||: its a damn ||dialga|| it's gonna be good. this was my best deino with an adamant orb powering up flash cannon and dragon pulse

Run 2 of my last four, fighting! This run was VERY bloody, mostly because I had no dedicated walls for the longest time, so things were just dying left and right, including a near wipe to Koga's Gengar/Scolipede (Gengar is so hard to deal with if it gets levitate omg) but we pulled through.

Would not recommend primeape/whimsicott simply because they don't get play rough. Did... okay work otherwise, they survived which says more about some of the other physical whimsicotts I've had.
Hitmontop/Xatu performed much better though even though I had to make due with rolling kick's 85% accuracy (still better than risking triple kick's 3x chance of a miss) Pretty good overall, especially when I got bulk up.
Hawlucha/Mismagius was a fun one even if I had to use Hidden Power clause to give him STAB. He sadly fell when lance whipped out a GARCHOMP/DEOXYS that nobody on my team had any hope of outspeeding and OHKO'ed with dragon rush.
Lucario/Meganium was a placeholder that I just couldn't shake off in terms of being both a special attacker and a grass type with its nifty resistances. Did okay work I guess.
Jirachi/Poliwrath and Golurk/Gallade were my two E4 ringers but they did good work. Jirachi/Poliwrath in particular was the only reason my team didn't wipe to the aforementioned garoxys thanks to a steel type, wish, and high defenses (and garchomp's only ground move being dig)
Golurk/Gallade was more funny than useful with no guard hypnosis + dynamicpunch but he still did acceptable work when needed.

Just a quick "for fun" self-challenge after the fighting run was done. Decided to see if there was a moveset that could solo the whole E4 with sub + spore and coil + play rough turned out to be the key. I actually had to swap spore over to lovely kiss when I realized that lorelei's lead was locked into a grass type (as was the champion's) but coil thankfully made it just a matter of a reset or two since coil made its accuracy eventually become 100% anyway. oddly enough, bruno was the easiest of the 5 since his lead was a yanmega/gallade that just spammed feint.

Mono-electric time! Jolteon got to revenge the loss she had in the last attempt.

Not much to say here. Lugia/Stunfisk is 560 BST, BARELY within my limit. They did well as a wall throughout the run. Rotom/Sharpedo was as glass as you'd expect, tanked resisted hits okay but got shredded by even neutral hits. Jolt is as funny as always with volt absorb + electrify. I like lileep/zekrom's design and it did alright work as an endgame curser. Mawile was literally just intimidate and lategame slow passes and altaria/electrivire was the main sweeper of the crew in the endgame.

I've said it before, debug is entirley just for rare candies and to get the mons of the types at the start for randomization, no skipping stuff. I could swap back to non-debug if I wanted to by just running NG+ though and not much would change, something that I'm probably going to be doing in some runs once I go to 6.4. My rule with the candies is that I need to beat every single trainer available at a given point in the game before I can RC up to the next level limit.

(the one exception being that smeargle/riolu above, which was coming off a run that had gotten to the E4's doorstep normally)

these runs are just so close together because I had them all sitting on the E4's doorstep for a while because I wasn't allowed to clear runs normally in 2024 until I finished something else.

Final of the four monotypes to post. This time was psychic!

The gardevior/magmortar used to be an alakazam/magmortar until bruno happened, then it turned into Take your Kid to Work day with togepi/gardevior

Reuniclus/ambipom was an E4 ringer and togepi/gardevior was funny and... oddly useful at points? as for the other three though, they were all great.

Wobbuffet/Meloetta was a treasure, giving wobbuffet actual STAB while wobb gave massive HP in turn. Very much a good rec, both sides worked well together.
Vaporeon/Espeon is as good as you'd expect since the normal bad movepool issue eeveelutions have isn't present when there's two of em.
And Oricorio/Bisharp was another unexpected find, but a rare physical attacker in a type that, outside of gallade (who isn't available until after giovanni 2) and bruxish, really struggles for those.

For the second to last run of my monotype series, this was Mono-Mono, a run where I could only use monotype mons AND only moves of their type. This made the E4... difficult, to say the least with my set-up options severley limited.

Zapdos/Raichu was the starter and they did nice work throughout, but lost a damage range in the champion fight and died for it.
The shiny Sunflora/Tangela, despite being an eviolite mon, was honestly the only reason this run even survived the E4 after a truly awful team that lance gave me (zekrom/whimsicott AND a kyurem/meloetta-A, negating both of my set-up sweepers), very bulky and grass's good selection of status moves means that he didn't really function any different from a normal run. Snorunt/Glaceon as cute and got some surprise faints here and there, but was super frail as you'd probably expect. Golurk/Marowak was that placeholder mon that just sticks around because they were too useful to let go, but they did have decent options between bonemerang, earthquake, and mud slap. Xatu/Alakazam and Weavile/Darkrai were the two set-up sweepers that died to lance, the latter of which was also an E4 ringer. Not much to say about them. good when they pop but lance had hard counters to both that monomono just couldn't deal with. (at least not with direct damage, anyway...)

It was very nice to play the game after a while. I enjoyed the hats much more than I expected. My team this time around felt a little higher power than I usually lean, and I certainly didn't find the game as hard as my first (and only other) Classic run. Of course, this is likely explained by experience.

I don't know about classic/standard/ whatever it's called, but on remix mode you get a Pineco from a hotel quest in Pewter, and Sableye can be caught as a static encounter in the cave north of Crimson city at night, or I think you can get it in the prism room in rock tunnel? It was actually my MVP btw, prankster will-o-wisp and dealing out big damage with payback and gyro ball.

Checked the wiki, and it's available 'somewhere' in both mt. moon and rock tunnel, although it just gives a map ID instead of saying which room.

Furret/Raikou was a great starter and did nice stuff for most of the run, sadly they got crit KO'ed by payback when I was setting up on agatha.
Nidoking/Seaking is just like... I wanted to use a nido and I generally don't like them so I guess?
Dunsparce/Azumarill made me not feel bad about using a huge power mon for once since azumarill's stats weren't too changed overall by 'sparce. Coil was nice though for picking up agatha's sweep where Furrkou left off though.
Bibarel/Scizor was fun, I liked bidoof/scyther the most of the line but sadly bibarel/scyther wasn't sprited. at least this is a close runner up? Good technician abuser, not much else there.
Moltres/Jynx was my main endgame sweeper, mostly hadn't used jynx because they kept being used as perish song sacs against Zapmolcuno.
Ursaring/Spiritomb was the E4 ringer and I don't think they were ever used once lol

My azumarantis and carcario were probably my two biggest mvps during the run. Carbink was my starter.

MVP run complete. Every member of this team was a fusion I determined to be an MVP from a previous run. This was a fun one, and way different for me, since I had actually used all of them at one point.

The team (order is based on old style HoF):
Monster the blistress: From run 25, my chat faves run. Super defensive, won me a bunch of fights, just like last time.
Fragment the lucamortar: From run 48, fire monotype. Strong, though a little frail.
Tog the infergon: Also from run 48 (couldn't decide which was better). Strong and fast, plus immune to ground.
Liquor the umbvoir: From run 42, fancy fashion. She was strong, with great coverage I didn't otherwise have.
Victory the jimuku: From run 30, iconic fusions. Very tanky, while also being decently strong.
Slowmo the slowapex: From run 36, Wormspawn single artist. Another tanky mon, plus baneful bunker is cool.

• thunder, ||honchkrow/electrivire||: i got this bad boy through debug as it was my only pre-planned mon. i also got the final evo early du to celadon selling mist stones lmfao. pretty good mon, very good sprite
• tyrant, ||ampharos/empoleon||: holy shit. this thing bodied EVERYTHING it touched. it could probably solo this game tbh, definitely my ace. this thing SOLOED the champ
• steampower, ||klinklang/galvantula||: good pokemon with an amazing sprite. parabolic charge + magnet is yum
• supercell, ||golisopod/luxray||: used to by luxray/lycanroc and was switched out for golisopod. honestly probably could have chosen better but hey great sprite and liquidation is a good move. backup ground-type move haver too (i also gave it leech life + big root)
• bombshell, ||raich/weezing||: i love this sprite so much and the combo is so good. pretty even stats across the board, poison coverage, etc.
• jewel storm, ||diancie/jolteon||: my obligatory rare mon. i love this sprite and i love how it performed. it 3-shot big bird with diamond storm + thunderbolt and came in clutch during the e4 fights

my second completed run! Full randomized run where I wasn't allowed to fuse/unfuse (with the exception of eggs, which had to immediately be fused with the next egg I got), and I was only allowed to catch the first pokemon on each route and static encounters. I had a lot of fun, half of my party got replaced with the mons I got from the pinkan sidequest, what a fun addition to the game!

Finished my first Classic playthrough!

• Thyme the Noctowl/Venusaur, Flying/Poison. Like, u'know... "Thyme" because it's a plant + "Time" because it's a clock One of my gf's old sprites, I had to make it my starter fusion. He was a fun Black Sludge + Leech Seed + Fly self-healer.
• Krapivka the Lurantis/Raichu, Grass/Electric. I planned to keep it an early game fusion only but it grew up on me and was very useful, especially when catching mons thanks to Nuzzle.
• Hyacinthia the Oricorio/Lopunny, Ghost/Normal. I really wanted to use Oricorio at least once in my life.
• Strawberry the Granbull/Marowak, Fairy/Ground. He was strong and really... Intimidating if you know what I mean.
• Chelly the Articuno/Torkoal, Ice/Fire. I had Torkoal since gym 3 and only managed to fuse it in the late game, but it's fun to use and I'll def play with her more in the postgame.

Doing a no-Legends Monotype Run and removing anything that hits 100. There have been some really rocky parts but the rest has been super easy, I spent a long time checking stats and looking for cool fusions 🙂

Trying to keep all the fusions over 500 BSP is tough while also keeping the Dark Type and getting the coverage I need without having too many 4x weaknesses. I'm doing the rematches in order and Lt Surge (Remix is Fighting type) is a tough customer.

For my return to IF with all the new mons, I decided to do a completely Randomized Nuzlock... I failed the first attempt at Mt. Moon and had to start over, but at least that's pretty early. This is my 7th completed playthrough.

I noticed that Ice Heals had randomized into Master Balls, so I grabbed the Ice Expert outfit ASAP to have a refilling supply of them.

Normally when I post these, I list the team I beat E4 with and how they treated me during the run, but this one I was losing mon left, right, and center... So all but the right-most is pretty much a fresh addition.

Had fun though, and I really enjoyed the Team Rocket questline.

Parasect/Sandslash : This guy saved me from a lot of situation with swords dance + X-Scissor (That's a good sprite I like it)
Volcarona/Butterfree : He destroyed all of the Elite with Quiver Dance + heat wave or bug buzz (This sprite is amazing)
Kingdra/Cresselia : Not the best one but he has a lot of special defense and with that he was my defense monster (love this sprite too)
Blastoise/Electivire : This guy was my starter and he stayed alive all of that game. This guy is a BEAST he destroy all of the early game (This sprite is sooo cool)
Sunflora/Flygon : Just a MONSTER, he destroys everyone with dragon dance + earthquake or dragon rush (This sprite is sooo cute)
Gengar/Porygon-Z : That's my favorite for this game. He was too fast for everyone and killed everyone with Nasty Plot + Shadow ball or Tri attack. (This sprite is awesome)

This was a really solid team as long as we weren’t up against any ice or grass types. Everyone on the team was either tanky or decently hard hitting, though a lot of the team was slower than I’d have liked. Easiest bird fight I’ve ever had though (Thanks Pit!)
