And yes you can do that. That's how I've been doing my runs. I have a completed save that I use to set-up the team I wanna use (only get the pokemon and fuse them, no fucking around with the stats, natures or abilities) and then start a NG+ and change to that team in Oak's lab and use only them, no catching or switching out the party.

and than I found out I can just catch the other starters

aslo I was shure it probaly has a cool custum sprite so

my issue is usually the abilities of the starters, Torrent Overgrow and Blaze are niche abilities, so I like to fuse them with pokemon with cooler abilities like Flame Body, Shell Armor, Wonderguard, etc

unless you catch them with Ability balls
