I just really love the animation in the shorts, and I know Journeys is generally doing better with animation but like
I would rather have a series which cannot be pumped out for decades than a series which just constantly goes up and down in quality, which is constantly geared towards children who are watching for the first time
And there are so many cool concepts in the Pokémon universe which can't be explored by the anime as is unless it's just a boring one-off
When's the last time Pokémon rangers were properly a thing?
Hell, even a mystery dungeon anime could be pretty cool (though it wouldn't be my first choice)
Or, as unoriginal as the concept has gotten, Pokémon from the villain's perspective. Of course they'd never be brave enough to have someone who was the bad guy all the way through, but even just a vigilante would be a cool concept.
You could even set it up as a traditional "party of heroes" anime where each member of the team represents a class of trainer we've come to know and love from the games

Thought of how to fix Ride Pokemon. Step 1: Bring back HMs (but they can be deleted like any other move.) Step 2: If a Pokemon can learn that HM (It doesn’t have to actually learn it), and you unlocked the ability to use it out of battle, you can register it as a ride pokemon, whether it’s in your PC or party. (One registered per HM) Step 3: It basically works exactly like Sun/Moon ride pokemon at this point, except they’re pokemon you caught.

You get to catch NPC Pokémon and swap between playing them and your main Pokémon
So you can play as like even bosses and stuff like Regigigas without them having to be added as playable characters
But the issue there is that probably means any playable NPC won't become an actual character 🙃
