And I just pulled up the encounter table

And realised that the encounters in USUM are FUCKED

If you're trying to follow Nuzlocke rules to a tee, you literally have to fight Teacher Emily with only your starter

As a friendly reminder this is the trainer who has the SE starter vs yours

Without an additional clause, beating the game is literally impossible on a Nuzlocke

Because you get your starter on Route 1

And you can only get Pokemon from Route 1 at that point in the game, with Trainer School counting as Route 1

It's kinda fucked up

I think most people don't include starters as encounters

And consider Route 1 and Trainer's School seperate

And evidently for a very good reason

I need an opinion on something: I’m currently working on an essay about how much special treatment generation 1 has gotten as opposed to other gens. When tracking new forms for Pokémon that have members of their evolutionary lines across multiple generations, I give the credit to the generation of the exact Pokémon that received the attention. So for example, I count Mega Scizor as special attention for Gen 2, despite the fact that Scizor’s evolutionary line started in Gen 1. Which brings me to Porygon Z: I am currently counting Porygon Z as special treatment for Gen 1, but technically the Pokémon that evolves into Porygon Z is Porygon2, which is a Gen 2 Pokémon. My logic for counting it toward Gen 1’s totals is that Porygon can eventually become Porygon Z, but by that same logic, I can also count Mega Scizor towards Gen 1 since it can eventually become Mega Scizor. So here’s my question: should I count Porygon Z as special treatment for Gen 1, since that is where the line originated and Porygon will eventually become Porygon Z, or should I count it as special treatment for Gen 2 since Porygon Z technically evolves from a Gen 2 Pokémon?
