tribes give you a bonus effect if you have 5/6 mons in the same tribe, one bonus for instance is Scourge which grants you a small recovery any time your pokemon faints an enemy

there are like 25ish tribes, all giving different boosts that lean into playstyles

another random example, one of my runs was mono Scavenger tribe, which boosts berry and gems used

was fun to use stuff like Tropius double berry tank, Persian with double Normal Gem fake out and Garbador Sitrus Recycle spam
