Like bro usually I'd say something like it's tied with Bug for the worst type but I don't even think Bug is as bad as this anymore

(Talking purely about the type, and not the Pokemon)

This is the early game type made to be on weak mons compared to one of the most well respected types in universe

How many good Psychic dual types are there, like 3 or 4?

And even then, thinking about it, one of the ones I was thinking of was Glowking's Poison/Psychic, but that only removes a Psychic weakness and doubles up on Fighting resist

While becoming weak to 2 of the most common offensive types in the metagame and gaining a neutrality to another

So is it really the type being good, or Glowking being good?

And even if the type is good, how much of it even is Psychic?

I think the main reason for this feeling of uselessness is due to the lack of very good resistances

Something like Bug may have a crippling weakness on the same level as Dark, in the form of Rock, as well as 2 other common weaknesses

But it has an excellent resist, a good resist and a decent resist

As opposed to Psychic having 1 good resist and one meh resist

Doesn't help that Psychic's 3 weaknesses are all also debatably as bad as Bug's Rock weakness

With how much Knock Off and U-Turn are spammed

And how strong of a type Ghost is offensively

Speaking of Ghost, if you wanted a type that sat on Fighting but was weak to Dark and Ghost, you'd pick that

Since it has great neutral coverage, good SE coverage, not many attacks can stop it, it isn't weak to Bug (it resists Bug actually) and handles Poison about as well due to the resist

And that's just the basics

Mentioning Psychic's weaknesses and SE targets, as well as a general quick summary, that's it

There's a lot more than just that that makes Ghost better

I see people say that Fairy is just better Psychic, but they're not very similar

Psychic VS Ghost is a better comparison

There's also the fact that Normal is not a very relevant type, with that being Ghost's main weakness and a good chunk of its bad matchups on paper as Normal is a common type

Its resistances aren't half asked either, including offensive behemoth types like Ice, Fairy and Rock, spam types like Bug and Rock, and other good offensive types like Flying and Dragon. Also has some not as relevant resistances, though you could argue they're not as relevant BECAUSE of the Steel type
