We haven’t played a new region since Gen 5 and the introduction of Pokestar Studios.
The villains plots are getting bigger and more elaborate with each gen, almost like a new movie that has to up the stakes. The gimmicks are there for one game and then gone because they’re noticing new stuff brings the audiences in.
PLA is a period drama. ORAS and BDSP are “based on a. True story”.
Gen 6 we had an end of the world plot, sold decent.
ORAS had positive reception attributed to the alternate universe plot line (delta ep was a selling point of the games), so they reused the concept for Gen 7.
Gen 7 sold really well, so they made a director’s cut of it for USUM. It was deemed unoriginal, and fans complained about the story changes (people did complain about Lusamine’s plot changing)
So they kept the eldritch stuff for gen 8, but pivoted to a more barebones plot. Adding a simple sword and king stuff to change it up. Sold well, so they decided to make a tv spinoff (DLCs).
Meanwhile to drum up new interest, they worked on a period drama(note the save data bonus person in SV doesn’t recognize the name Hisui, either changed name in Paldea or never brought over) and do another “true story” movie too while they were at it.
The time travel plot was very positively accepted, so they doubled down for the next big budget film, hence SV.

I don't want anymore fully evolved pure water type Pokémon. I don't mind if a Pokémon starts out as pure water and then gains a secondary type later, but it should not still be pure water by the time it reaches its final form. There are 3 main reasons for this:
- Water is the most abundant type in all of Pokémon.
- Water has already been paired with every other type at least once.
- We've had at least 1 fully evolved pure water type in every single generation.
With so many water type Pokémon, there's simply no reason to use a pure water type, and we don't need anymore.

I just try to make teams with normal Pokemon...usually monotype teams, because I love thinking of ways to both highlight the strengths of certain types and cover any potential weak points.
