I mean, like I said, it does have better stats, so it is an upgrade until they'd evolve. But in the end it's just whether that's worth the trade off. I don't think Larvitar levels much faster, but it would be some, since lower evolutions always have lower exp requirements to level at the same level unless I'm mistaken.

Mine. For context: Aside from the first two, these are just my favorite pokemon. The first two are two particular pokemon that hold a significant place in my heart, and generally speaking I only give nicknames to pokemon who are special like that.

The first one is my first shiny pokemon, who I caught in Ruby version, tried to nickname "Pink Crobat" but was too dumb as a kid to realize the t got cut off by the character limit, and so "PINK CROBA" has been her name ever since. I've transfered her to every main game I've played, so she's been with me across all these years.

The second one is my Alpha Bidoof from Legends. She got to level 100 over the course of the game, and is the first pokemon I've bothered to hit that point with in quite a few years. I don't know what it is about that game, but she built up a particular rappor with me, and now any time I catch and use a bidoof in any game, I nickname it "Doofie Jr." or "Doofie I(", "Doofie III", etc.

As for the others, I just paricularly like Araquanid both gameplay and design wise, Giratina is my favorite legendary, I've raised quite a few Dunsparse over the years, (and it's not evolved because I have no interest in Scarlet/Violet), and Seviper has just always been a favorite of mine.

mew has a billion fans because mew has cool lore, several movies, anime episodes, and in-game dialogue or even events dealing with it

by the time we reached marshadow, we were 7 generations into the franchise and they were used to making mythicals every gen, so they had to fill the quota for gen 7 too

saying marshadow is underrated is like saying zygarde is underrated

underrated isn't the right word to use here
i think people like them as much as they naturally can given the content we received for them

it's more like there's nothing super interesting about them compared to every other mythical/legendary

their biggest draw from people who like them is that theyre kinda forgotten
zygarde fans tend to just be insecure that Pokemon Z didn't get made for example, so they double down and act like Zygarde is cool enough for them without the game.

i think marshadow is an example of a mythical that just doesn't have a whole ton going for it, it's pretty unmemorable compared to other mythicals. even magearna is way more interesting imo.

yes everyone should like what they like, but we can acknowledge that certain pokemon have less content made for and around them, and that goes beyond personal feelings. there's no need to be a centrist contrarian and claim that all pokemon are made equally; that just isn't the case.
but of course if you like these monsters and their designs there's nothing wrong with that. they can be cool purely based on your feelings, but that shouldn't stop us from discussing them and comparing them critically, and it's kind of toxic positivity to discourage people from doing so.

Luxray is my favorite pokemon, I'm even wearing a Luxray hoodie rn. But I can agree that it's not always the greatest pokemon to use. There are definitely better options. Stat and move pool wise it's mid. Design wise, I love it, especially the shiny for it.

to clarify a bit: vanilla vega is both japanese and pretty difficult while minus and viva both tone the difficulty down a fair bit. Minus focuses more on vanilla vega's 150 dex while Viva las Vega is more of a full-dex version. (so about 386) both minus and viva are english and have a mix of fakemons and vanilla gen 1-5 mons (some of which have fakemon evos) Both versions are good so feel free to pick which one to try out of the two. Viva has more of the new mons in the maingame though so that might be a better pick in your case.

The generally accepted way to do a nuzlocke in legends is to treat every location that has a name on the map as being an 'area', and you can only catch the first pokemon you see in that area.

It's rather similar to nuzlocke rules regarding SwSh's Wild Area

late-ish but for swish's wild area we generally count each sub-area in it as its own encounter pool since there's a lot of them.

you can do it with counting the entire wild area as one "route" but that takes about 15-20 encounters away from you

not sure how that works in legends arceus since each sub-area in WA has its own title and weather condition
