I forget how quickly Scraggy evolves. In the late teens, 16-18, or friendship? Scrafty looks like a Lv30-40 evolution, 25 at the earliest. But still has room to be added to, if they ever gave it a final stage. Definitely would be really cool.
I see it as a counterpart to Bisharp, but not quite rivals, unless there is lore or are dex entries for that. Bisharp evolved which nobody ever really expected

the two switch games are decent but both have rough/jank points (wild area and variable levels) so it might be worth giving a level guide on those two

XY is swingy in that how hard that one is depends on how many COMMON trainers you fight, since a lot of them are more dangerous than most of the mandatory boss fights.

OrAs lacks that point but its endgame is vicious and the earlygame variety is mid

B2W2 has the opposite, brutal opening, smooth sailing until endgame

gen 1 has exploitable AI but can be tricky if you dunno how it works. Gen 2/HG/SS are also rough early and losing mons in the midgame requires brutal grinding to catch them up

gen 3 is basically ORAS with a nicer endgame in exchanged for less variety in mons, and gen 4 has a brutal endgame

tldr: Sword/Shield is probably the nicest as long as you educate your friend on carrying poke dolls at all times in the wild area and make sure to account for dangerous fights (nessa, kabu, allister, eternamax)

Ruby/Sapphire is in second if your friend doesn't mind not having the PSS or a dex size above 200

No it shouldn't reset anything. The only method in that game that can reset is if you're using the chain fishing shiny hunting method and get another pokemon or you fail to hook something. If you are shiny hunting the starter from Birch that will always be fine and dexnav shiny hunting as well cuz it basically works like Sword and Shield's pokedex method if you know what that is.

I have the shiny charm in that game so I've hunted a lot in that game.

IF itself is a great choice if you stick to normal + vanilla, slightly more rude than FRLG but not overly so
