generally worse battle mechanics, catching feels godawful, the 'crafting' system has the worst traits of both crafting and typical shopping systems, use of the music in the main town feels weirdly backwards where the music picks up in intensity indoors rather than outdoors, lore makes your party of monsters feel absolutely soulless, bootleg system is tedious and not interesting, and the game is super-stingy with fusions early on if you do anything other than stick religiously with your first partner.

main story wise at least
its getting a bit difficult, levels are in the 90s for my opponents, but my overall strategy seems to be working
mamoswine with focus sash, gets outsped but lives and manages to stealth rock and dies next turn
send in froslass who is fast enough to spikes first, and if I'm feeling like she can't take a hit, although she usually can, I give her a focus sash too so that she can spikes twice
after that, it's usually sending in avalugg/baxcalibur to take out their first pokemon because usually they have one or two that can stall out an extra turn of snow so Cetitan loses slush rush on their last pokemon.

then sending in alola ninetails for snow warning + aurora veil. She usually dies from one hit. After that, Cetitan as my last pokemon comes in with the Slush Rush + Belly Drum sweep. Aurora Veil + Snow is usually enough to make Cetitan tanky, especially if I terastalize into Ground, which is a decent check to most of the AI's attacks that go for Cetitan, like Fighting or Fire. Come out of belly drum with 35 HP and 7 turns of going first with +6 attack
at that point, the level difference of 20-30 doesn't really matter anymore, things will die. Some of the tougher trainers have 1-2 pokemon that Earthquake or Ice Spinner can't deal with, and it's usually something bull like a Cloyster or something. I've learned from my mistakes tho and taught Cetitan Superpower, which is enough to take these troublesome answers out

It's not catching if you don't take control of them. You don't use them, you become them. The music only gains lyrics, not A heightened beat, and the lyrics are slow and calming, not intense. And the, "Soul," of those monsters is your own soul, with your body being manipulated by what Morgante' Gestalt says are, "Talismans," (The Cassettes and Portable Players.). Sticking with your partner is ultimately your decision and is not necessarily the main intention of adding partners.

One more thing to add... You clearly didn't finish the game, because you can enable, in A new game, for every Monster to be A Bootleg, the element they become being randomized. This adds replayability, as well as an OPTION. If you don't want to grind for bootlegs, don't. It's your choice whether to sacrifice the first Monster in your party for increased chances of finding A bootleg of it (Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention the candle you get from the mysterious merchant that boosts Bootleg odds via A sacrifice of the Monster you're trying to get A Bootleg of.). This isn't even mentioning the Black Shuck, A shadowy copy of your Avatar that mostly runs away, but, rarely, you can battle them to get A strange Cassette Tape that has A 100% chance of Recording, but also makes the Recorded Monster be A Astral Bootleg. Badabing badaboom, easy Magikrab (You get Magikrab by having normal Plastic Crab, but Bootlegged into an Astral.)

The new Pokemon poll made me realize how much I enjoy Maractus, which made me realize I never got round to catching one in Blaze Black 2 Redux. So I went and did that.
I don't think they got as buffed as they should have, they just got slightly better defensive stats and were switched from Sp. ATK to ATK. For some reason they granted access to Scald, even though they no longer have the Sp. ATK to use it.
