it's kokichi ouma (danganronpa) using song magic (ar tonelico), with his underlings (jester [dicey dungeons], wilson p higgsbury [don't starve], and a blacephalon), and some annoying god (okina matara [touhou]) that has decided to be his patron whether he wants her to or not (he doesn't)

I know that has probably taken hours and it's really beautiful as is but here are a couple of details I think could improve it if you want to use them

1. Make the trees slowly sway
2. Maybe have one of the lights in the house go out at some point, ending with them all dim?
3. The moon seems a little bit dull atm, maybe have something going on there?

These are just what i think could make it a bit more alive, you don't have to do this

Yes and no, since I'm working from grayscale to start it's more a matter if figuring out layer modes and other tools rather than the color placement or textures.
But I'll definitely snag some refs of her for when i start detailing the lava rocks, because the way the light bounces off them in Moana is really similar to what I wanna go for lol

I believe that's the point, since they based it off their favourite TCG card of Vibrava.

Sprites need to have the appropriate proportions which are the same as the actual mon. They could have just scaled down the reference when making this.

A) that's if they are being made to be put in the game, and B) There's plenty of sprites in the game that play with this rule, such a weedle, caterpie, nidoking, to name a few.

there are quite a few bases that were made way to big from tgc, while they are in the game nearly always they are considered alts because of their size and fusions made from them also get alted, while this is fine for a sprite for personal use since they said they want to apply for spriter in the future this is something that should be made be kept in mid for future bases and sprites

size is something that unfortunately a lot of people don't consider while making bases and then other spriters use them and are disappointed when their fusions gets alted because "the base exists so I thought it was fine" so some people are quite fast to point it out to prevent this if possible

it's something that's been in my brain since I was 12 (I am now 31), and I've tried several times to write it. Usually life or my own anxiety got in the way, but this iteration I've been working on and off since 2022 has been doing really well.

It's about a teen girl (Rida), who is perfectly content living in her largely isolated mountain village. She fully expects to take over the family duty of grave tending (VERY important to her village culture), and is very happy with her lot in life.

But then her brother returns home after a trip gone wrong, and he is severely ill with some sort of magical malady. Desperate to save her brother, Rida will leave the only home she has ever known to find the man who hurt him and, if she can, force him to heal her brother.

She'll end up uncovering a much darker plot than just the harm done to her brother, and finds herself in a struggle to not one, but two different worlds.

I have been wondering about the size of them tbh. Everything is on a grid with each tile being 16 by 16 pixels, so I'd have to bump up each tree to a 64x64 canvas if I were going to make them bigger.

Yeah, I'm very much trying to learn on the job because I'm primarily a programmer, not an artist, but I've been questioning my palette. I'm trying to compare with a range of early 2000s handheld games since that's the style I'm going for with my game, so I'll take another look and try to revise my colour selection. I think you're right about the saturation. One thing that was bothering me was I kinda felt like it had a kind of plastic toy feel to it, and I think over-saturated colours could be the cause of that.

it depends if you have biomes in your game, some can be quite saturated and others can look dull and gloomy, it's all to suit a vibe

Made my Vtubing OC Hestia as a pokemon trainer, gonna be working on the overworld spritesheets next :3 recolored the goggles that were in the folders and modified them a bit, then used the office worker female hair and heavily modified the adventurer_f clothes since it was a good base guide for my usual outfit!
