I'm working on a a proof of concept of a type of 1 bit pixel art, it's not for IF, and i thought i'd share the method incase anyone else wants to try (it's early WIP). But this gradient which i tweaked to have the maximum possible colour contrast and brightness is used as a backdrop, and a black layer is placed on a layer in front, from which layer pixels are erased to create a vibrant image (hence it's 1 bit on the front layer, every pixel is either transparent or black). Here is my early progress on the piece titled 'waterfall' and the backdrop in 288x288 incase anyone wants to try it out

Actually, since you're working on mobile, a trick might help with this
you can work on 288x288 canvas, the final size, but when you get to upload, use another app, like Pixel Studio, then resize the image to 96x96 and upload it as 3x, then you can send it good

youd need to use like a 3x3 pixel brush on a 288 canvas tho lest you have half pixel hell

If you're wondering how to make a Pokemon-esque sprite in terms of pixel scale, you make the sprite itself in 96x96.

Then whenever you use it for a video game, you use an upscaled 288x288 pixel scale.

DO NOT SPRITE IN 288x288. It WILL leave half-pixels and make the sprite in its entirety look very off.

how big/thick/small/thin are those fingers supposed to be
