I understand that with the most recent major update, the player sprite is constructed differently than how it used to be. (Presumably with more steps to account for different customization options?)
Given this, is it still feasible to switch out the player sprite to a custom sprite by swapping out image files? (Even if it might take more total swaps now.)

At the moment, you can only customize existing characters from your bedroom or 2F Hotel Wardrobes.

Delete your game folder (this doesn't delete your save) and Download the game from here: Link

Extract it into a new folder and open Game.exe from it. This will make sure you have fresh game data and also the correct files.

If it continues to crash, your computer is the issue.

the item that was on the mon should have gone in your bag

so double check that to be safe, it likely got put in on the bottom

we know of a bug where items do vanish but that only applies if you transfer a mon in your party to the box when you catch a new mon and replace it

Laptops have configurable settings when plugged in and not plugged in. This channel only deals with game related help, but you should look into “power plans” and what they are configured to when you are charging and not charging

After downloading the game from the app launcher is there anything else I need to download? Should I download the sprite pack beforehand? I think it said it might reduce performance or something. But I'm worried if I don't download it before hand it says it has to download each sprite as you encounter it, so is there a long load time or something everytime you encounter a new sprite?

How to Reset your Sprite Pull:

1. Open your menu in game and select Options.
2. Go to the option named Download Spritesand turn it OFF.
3. Leave the menu by pressing Enter on Confirm at the bottom or pressing B (if you don't, this won't work).
4. Open options again and turn Download Sprites back ON.
5. Save your game and close it.
6. Reopen the game and your sprites should appear.

Old data in your Game folder is crashing or causing issues with your game. To fix:

Lightweight Installer:

1. Open your Game Folder
2. Delete your Data folder (This will not delete your saved data)
3. Double click INSTALL_OR_UPDATE.bat

App Installer:

1. Open the App -> Installation Menu -> Update Game (this will delete the Data folder and bring it back for you)

Afterwards, reopen the game.
