I'm not sure if this is intentional or just the way the coding works, but if you rematch Sailor Phillip on the bottom floor of the SS Anne several times, his polichop will evolve like all other trainer pokemon do, but then will randomly swap from one evolution to the other between other fights. I was rematching him repeatedly for fun cuz i like seeing all the different fully evo-ed pokemon, and then this happened. it's swapped back and forth like four times so far

I confirmed that this is intended. The original trainer is Poliwhirl/Machop. Depending how many times you rematch the trainer, the pokemon of the trainer will evolve.

Since Poliwhirl has an evolution branch between Politoad and Poliwrath, the code can select any of the two as a rematch.

If you reverse the fusion, Haunter + Gyardos has custom sprites

Any new game update, you need to rerandomize the settings you have enabled.

If you have only pokemon randomized, you need to Reshuffle Wild Pokemon

This is done in the Pokemon Center -> Update Man (guy in black suit) -> Click Advanced Settings -> You will see the Reshuffle options

This will fix the issue going forward, but sprites already messed up you might have to fix yourself from the Pokedex.

Do you need to install sprite packs? No. By default the game will install sprites and all new monthly sprites on its own. This is done as you encounter Pokemon.

Each save file represents the save slot you saved into. Example: If you saved into Slot A, your save is named File A.rxdata

Oh actually it wasn't cindy, I just battled the next grunt and her name was Cindy, so I don't know if it was a call to her, but there was no punctuation in the previous grunt's end dialogue so I can't be sure
