I was having an issue where a pokemon was a ? and it was taking an eternity to load pokemon when trainers switched. So I downloaded the sprites and I thought it would fix it, and the it recommended me checking the preload box

It was taking so long to even start the game that it even said that it wasn't responding

if you run game and have a long startup, then your pc having issues loading ... in that case i recommend to restart the pc

Preloaded is only for computers that perform poorly or if you want to play 100% offline. Otherwise, open Game.exe and the game will open without crashing.
Preloaded doesn't work out of the box. You need to set it up using either of the two guides below:

This means auto gen sprites were installed, but custom sprites failed. If you provide the errorlog to us, we can see why it failed

But essentially you need to use the installation menu and click install custom sprites to finish installing the sprites you are missing

If you want to use a controller, close the game, plug in your controller to your PC, and then open the Game.

Be aware, pressing F1 to remap controllers will not work. You need to use a 3rd party app like Steam or JoyToKey to remap your controller to keyboard presses. Ex: A button to Accept/Confirm = C Keyboard Key

The guide tells you to read step 7. Step 7 shows what your save file looks like and where it is.

To update redownload the game. Move your save file to the new folder. Just repeat what you did to install it the first time.

Yeah that is the full game and sprites that 100% work. I suggest looking at your graphics card because that would be the only thing affecting tile rendering from the errors you got

head back to a pokemon center, save the game, close the game, delete the folder that has all your game files in it [this will not touch saves], and get a fresh install

once the game is reinstalled, load your save back up, go upstairs in the center, and talk to the man against the far right wall, have him fix the game, and then reshuffle wild mons one more time

something is fucky, I know there was some issues with the rival a couple of patches ago, but i forget exactly when.
But I think we've never seen this exact error before, so i suspect something is wrong with the files.

if that is the case then likely your internet connection isn't strong/stable/fast enough to handle the dynamic game application

at this point I'd recommend downloading the preloaded sprites, so that you don't have to worry about that issue

It is really difficult to corrupt your save unless you were trying to do stuff to edit your save file

OR auto save corrupted it. If you are in the process of saving and turn off the game or computer, it will corrupt.

I suspect something didnt go right in moving the files after unzipping.

Yo, im on pc, havent been running into any big problems until now
My current issue is this:
I am trying to battle the rival/champion, the final fight, but anytime his nidogeot uses double team my game crashes. This does not happen with any other move or pokemon in his team, I have not been experiencing crashes up until this point.

No to both. If you are having performance issues, you should look to setup the preloaded game. It will have a long start up time, but in return you get better in game performance.

I'm very happy with my in-game performance.

It is just the starting of the game itself.
I assume the best way to start the game is to press game.exe and then don't do anything until the music and sprites show up, right?
It sometimes crashes when I want to proceed to the "main-menu" (i assume its 001_StartGame.rb row 22 "self.set_up_system")
Is there any user-game-friendly-behavior recommended?

If needed ill try to debug it later when I'm back at my PC. In case some more data is needed.

Yeah Open Game.exe and wait until the Intro Video. Press Enter and it takes you to the screen where 2 Pokemon are Fusing. Press Enter again to go to the Main Menu.

If your computer is slow, you will get black screen between these actions though. So up to 2-3 black screens of loading.

We would need a screenshot of the error to accurately help you. We dont have them memorized by file and line number 😅 If the game is crashing WITHOUT an error on your screen, that means your computer crashed the game. Not that the game crashed cause of the code.

Trying to edit code to enable cheats will NOT work. Magic boots are only available from in game rewards by catching the 470 Base Pokemon.

Reinstall your game by deleting the Data folder (this won't delete your save) and run INSTALL_OR_UPDATE.bat.

If you want to use a controller, close the game, plug in your controller to your PC, and then open the Game.

Be aware, pressing F1 to remap controllers will not work. You need to use a 3rd party app like Steam or JoyToKey to remap your controller to keyboard presses. Ex: A button to Accept/Confirm = C Keyboard Key

Just got this fighting Giovani in the tower in the city with the Psychic gym leader. Am playing randomized. It was when one of the opponet's pokemon used the move Belch. It seemed to loop until the move missed then the fight continues as normal. It did not cause a game closing crash, just this pop up until the move missed.
