Hey @grizzled bolt! Are you having trouble starting the game? If you are launching v5, and your screen is stuck on black at startup, don't worry, it's normal. Leave the game running for a few minutes and it will work eventually.

Do not click on the window during this, otherwise you'll get the error below and the game will close.

Hey @sly coral! Are you having trouble starting the game? If you are launching v5, and your screen is stuck on black at startup, don't worry, it's normal. Leave the game running for a few minutes and it will work eventually.

Do not click on the window during this, otherwise you'll get the error below and the game will close.

After importing sprites you opened Game.exe and selected the options to replace sprites from in game options?

If you did it correctly after the title screen you get an in game prompt of replacing sprites.

If it doesn’t then you imported the sprites to the wrong folder

After replacing sprites from in game options, then you need to open the game from game-preloaded and not game since preloaded has the optimized settings to play the game from local sprites and not internet. Just make sure also download sprites from in game settings is turned off too

Finally fixed my issue with a reinstall, but today was playing on pc and encountered this error. A few npcs have this happen when the battle would start, but some not. Tried re-randomizing and it didn't do anything, but turning randomizer off temporarily fixes them. If I re-randomize they're bugged again.

Is this normal? I randomized my pokemon but it always uses the DNA icon in the pokenav. I didn't enable fused pokemon and none of them are when I run into shaking grass. I tried it on a fresh install as well but it stays like this. When I turn randomized pokemon off it does use the normal icons for the pokemon that normally spawn there. I'm using the preloaded version if that matters

That is the problem. There is a bug where in random + modern mode, you can’t have randomized trainers

Its doing the same for me as well, and ive tried checking windows defender, and running as administrator as well. Also hearing a sort of error sound on hitting install but no clue beyond that. Attempted to use the latest version of the installer in #downloads.

It isn’t a fix. the launcher is bugged. If it works it works, but if it doesn't there are no workarounds for the issues right now

i believe that i might have encounter a bug although am not sure. i have just now caught the very last pokemon i needed to complete the base pokedex and i went to the game dev in celadon but he still says i need to catch every single of the 465 base pokemon. I've counted all the pokemon over 7 times now from up to down and in reverse and i have them all but despite that i get no responce from the npc

It may be a good idea to update the documentation and language around the alternate launcher to reflect the fact that it is now Game-preload.exe.
Maybe I am just slow, but I spent far too long going "What alternate launcher? I don't see a file by that name." I only realized when I saw the pinned comment saying "How to Install Sprites for Game-preloaded (Alt Launcher)."
I have even seen reddit threads with people going: "I don't see an alternate launcher, so I went back to 5.1 where there was an alternate launcher and installed patches."

I believe it loads all of the files it needs before starting the game. (hence the name "preloaded") That is how it improves performance, by keeping all the files in memory. So there is a long boot-up time as it loads all of the files. I didn't write it though, so I don't know for sure that is what is going on.

You could try resetting your sprite pull:

1. Turn off Download Sprites option in setting inside the game.
2. Leave the menu (if you don't, this won't work).
3. Go back to Settings.
4. Turn option back on.
